  1. The water is starting to drop and clear up...a little. Still a great day on the water with Matt, but then, we always have an awesome time anytime we get together. Today Matt helped his 'ole man out by teasing them up for me and letting me pick 'em off! Thank you son. Dad
  2. They are down for routine maint. You ever check pout posts by Kevin Turner? aka KT?
  3. Thanks Rick for posting that, I was hoping you would. You da man! I'll bet some folks will regard your posts in a different manner now.
  4. Hey, ask us to brag and I'll jump in with both feet. I've got others but those two were the most memorable. I know of one particular individual( who is very modest) who posts on this site that could outshine all! You know who you are...PLEASE, post that pic and story.
  5. Here is what it looks like. http://freestateflyfishers.org/?page_id=680
  6. The best male Brown was 17lb, 30"long X 21.5 girth. The best female Brown 13.5 lb was 27" long X 20" girth. Had a male on one day that looked like a railroad tie in the water as he took me to the opposite bank with 2 units running. Well over 20 lbs. I only had a poor quality cell phone cam with me for the male. Both were released in good shape after the pics. the female the male
  7. You need Leonard! Hey Leonard, ya listening bud?
  8. I think you mean the bathrooms in the campground, no not those. I'm talking springside, at the last riffle above the bridge.
  9. I would like to thank Laker67 for his responce and insight. I found his replies informative, not grouchy.
  10. Yes they are pricey...but the example you point out is going to be very pricey anywhere.
  11. FFM, I used my 9' 5wt first, then switched to a shorter 6wt. They were deep and hugging the banks for the most part. Sometimes in high water I will throw a fly rig from a spinning rod. I can get as long of a drag free drift as I want, most anywhere.
  12. The park got blown out from last weeks high water event. Lots of down wood, but the trails are clear. A worker at the park told me they had waist high water in the bathrooms located stream side. Took and hour to get the skunk off my back, no sight fishing at all. The rainbows were decent size for this park. I caught quite a few stocker sized Browns! All I can figure is they must have been stocked in the river, and came up during high water.
  13. My parents and I are from that area. All my kin folk as well. The Pacific Northwest is where my love of the outdoors and fishing all started. And no, I don’t think those guys fish from those boats much. What they are doing is so much on the edge. Think of what could happen if the motor quits, even for a second or two. Check out some of the 8 ft hydraulic drops. Drop the nose into a hydraulic and take on water and its big trouble. Let alone the back end getting caught in the down flow over the ledge and filling the back end in as well. I noticed the one shot where they were coming down; they were doing so with more than idle throttle. Oh ya...I have a jet boat But I don't run water quite like that

  15. Hey JJ, Great minds think alike!
  16. Thanks for the report. That last Bass made it all worthwhile.
  17. Don't know your price range. Charlie Reading in Lebanon, Mo near Bennett Springs.
  18. Wow, Wonder if I can adapt it to my Camel Back hydration system Just tape the bite valve to the side of my face...or maybe an I.V. ?
  19. We will look forward to your report. Good Luck.
  20. Congrats on your new nick FC.
  21. Good vibes back at you as well. I live in an area that is a little bit of Missouri snake ville. I have some Hognose snakes back here as well, Copperheads too. I love watching the antics of the Hognose snakes. They put on such as show, flaring their necks, bluff strikes, rattling their tails in the leafs. And if that does not work...they roll over and play dead! You can pick them up and lay them over your arm, and they will still play 'possum. But if you roll them right side up, they flip back over playing dead again!
  22. Zander, BTW I checked out your website. Very nice. Love your artwork. You have quite a resume'. I've never heard of or seen a fish hook painting. Can you elaborate?
  23. A Coral Snake? Cool. Easily mistaken for the Scarlet King Snake (good snake) Here are a few facts on the Coral Snake; This iconic snake, with its bulbous head and red, yellow, and black bands, is famous as much for its potent venom as for the many rhymes—"Red and yellow, kill a fellow; red and black, friend of Jack"—penned to distinguish it from similarly patterned, nonvenomous copycats, such as the scarlet king snake. Coral snakes are extremely reclusive and generally bite humans only when handled or stepped on. They must literally chew on their victim to inject their venom fully, so most bites to humans don't result in death. In fact, no deaths from coral snake bites have been reported in the U.S. since an antivenin was released in 1967.
  24. Thanks. Part of my reason for this post is to help folks understand, and possibly change their thinking and approach to Missouri snakes. I know that some will be firm in their approach to snakes. But if even one individual changes their thinking or behavior toward snakes, I’ll feel like I’ve contributed something worthwhile. The old location of the Blue Bird House (empty) shows how much snake can fit in that little box. [attac hment=6433:Black_Snake_004.JPG]
  25. What I can't deal with; After reading Phil's recent post on Alaska. The fishing and scenery is awesome. But I prefer to remain at the top of the food chain. Bears and sharks. No way. I've dealt with police dogs that wanted to eat me, but I had a suit on that was made for getting bit. I don't think a suit's been made that can handle Brown Bears or Great White Sharks. No way,
