  1. A River Pro 186 Low Pro. We will be launching at the State park, and fishing in that area this next week when we're not on Tanneycomo.
  2. The grandkids brought home two limits. The Bossco Bait and Bossco method did the trick! We didn't have to resort to all seven formulas though. High water and cloudy conditions were no problem for Mira & Cole...they figured them out! Look out fish, here comes Cole! Dads net sure is big!!!
  3. Yes it will be a day to remember forever. A new generation is introduced to the wonders of FISHING! and the beautiful waters they live in. We started at the hatchery, look at all the fish! Then on to the stream. And the discoveries along the way... A little sugar is good luck! A stream side lesson What... I'm busy! Our days catch
  4. And now a proud Grandpa posts Matt's son Cole! Not bad for a 2 yr old!!! We in our family break 'em in early! With more to follow!
  5. My son Matt, and his wife Tisha brought grandkids Mira(4 yrs), and Cole(2 yrs) to their first trout fishing trip. Awesome day!!! Little warm, VERY breezy, water high and cloudy. But the grandkids didn't care. Here's Cole with his first trout!!! What a lil MAN! Think he's proud? More to follow!
  6. Hey, Thanks for the tip! I've got some clousers I've used for smallies. best regards
  7. I will be down there next week. What flies do I need for Whites? Never caught them on the fly rod. That would be cool.
  8. Glen Beck on Fox has been doing a spot on this subject. FUNNY!!!
  9. That bottom pic, I'll bet ya didn't need the Flip-Focals on your hat to tie the hooks on your line!
  10. Nice. Good looking Smallies there. What was the bite on?
  11. My son Matt and his little sister Angie at Bennett Springs State park. The second pic shows the two of them on the spillway behind Angie in the first pic.
  12. Wow! Thanks for sharing those pics.
  13. We are looking forward to a week long stay at your resort coming up shorty. This time we are treating ourselves to a lake front unit. Really looking forward to it.
  14. Matt and I made a Bansai run to Taney today. Left the house with the boat in tow about 5:00 am, in the water at the MDC ramp below the Dam about 9:30. Off the water at 5pm. Back home boat tucked away by 10pm.We got lucky with the weather, clouds and sun all day. Fishing was great all day, (the catching was good as well). We stayed up in the Trophy area all day with 3 units running pretty strong. I stayed with the fly rods all day using dropper rigs, with egg/scud or san juan worm/ice scuds all day. Matt went for more variety using the fly rod, and spinning rods throwing sculpin jigs, and jerk baits. Catching fish on all, a few Browns and the rest some nicely colored rainbows. No silver bullets today. Matt got the best of his 'ole man today catching wise. I was rewarded with some "quality time" with my best fishing buddy, which is more than enough for me! It was great reliving fishing trips of the past during the drive. And looking forward to trips in our future. Here's a couple Matt caught and released today. MaMa Fishy & PaPa Fishy as a sub-note ...to me, ANY day at Tanneycomo is a great fishing day! sure some days the "catching" isn't as good as others, or the fish are a little harder to figure out. That's part of the sport of it all. If it was too easy that would take some of the thrill of discovery out of it. We can learn something new any day, from anything, or anyone, if we are open to it. Tanneycomo will always have a special place in my heart, as it has since my dearly departed Dad took me there in the mid '60s. Thanks Dad
  15. Laker67' You know, I think that is some pretty darn wise advise. My fav all round do all Taney rod is a 5wt, and you are spot on about fishing lighter tippets with a 5wt. I was just thinking of a fairy wand to chase chinass trout with, 8x- 9x. But ya know, and I imagine you have the same preference...I would rather catch a few specific fish, than catch a bunch of chinass trout. It isn't the quanity, it's the quality. Maybe I will look for a 6wt replacement to the one I gave my son. Best Regards,
  16. Think I will have to treat myself to one of those Sharkskins for my next rod.
  17. Thanks for all the posts!
  18. I will note that my boat guy told me to add nothing to my new Merc optimax 200 2 stroke. And use regular 87 octane fuel.
  19. Very interesting, thats what I like about this board a wide diverse array of knowledge and input. What do you know about what I mentioned about various octane ratings and ethanol?
  20. My understanding is that unless you go to a marina or a special gas station out in the stix, ethanol is in all fuel blends. Shell, BP, Phillips66 in all three octanes. Some experts say running higher octane in an engine with lower compression ratings designed for low octane ratings is not a good thing. Newer marine engines are designed to tolerate 10% ethanol. I ALWAYS add Sta-Bil year round EVERY fill up. Ethanol absorbs water into the fuel.
  21. Hey John, Thanks for your feedback. Wow, that wasn't what I was expecting to hear but I value your opinion. I am looking for what I need to hear, not what I want to hear. Having said that... I own a St Croix Legend Elite 9ft 5 wt, and a TFO Professional 9ft 5wt. I will have to say IMO, the TFO is much less accurate, I have to work noticeably harder to get the same results, and has too much mid-flex for my taste. And that is with using the same reel/line on both. But I'm NOT knocking what you said, thanks again. I will test the TFO, probably a Winston, Sage, and any other rod in my budget. My price range is $500 bucks max. At $440 the St Croix falls into my price range, they have actually come down in price. I paid $500+ for the 5wt in '06. Thanks, Bman
  22. This is where I get my river level and flow rate info. http://water.usgs.gov/waterwatch/?m=real&r=mo http://waterdata.usgs.gov/usa/nwis/uv?site_no=07019000
  23. Laker67, Thanks for your insight on my question! Best Regards
  24. Burlap, sounds like one of the local "secret" Bennett flys like "Bootstrap" , or the Army worm. Matt, sounds good, but then Taney's only an hour further...
