  1. My son & I got down to the springs mid morning and fished till about 2 pm.Fishing was good for average fish,I am not seeing the amount of lunkers that were in the water for last years C&R.There are a few big ones but I really had to look hard for them, and they typically are in hard to fish areas. What worked for us? Egg patterns, and small scuds. Bruce
  2. I would trust the Lilley forcast for weather or fishing completely. The times that I have stayed or stopped by lilley's Phil was kind enough to pull current weather up on the internet,AND call by cell phone the guides that he knows that are on the water and get the up to the minute report from the guides themselves!Even what they are biting on. Ya can't do much better than that. Bruce Omans
  3. Hey Dave,Don't forget to include SCUDS to your Taney flybox.Be sure to have them in tan, brown, olive, and grey...sizes 22-12.Use fluorocarbon tippet to improve your chances when fishing under the surface. Bruce
  4. And I have to respond to this one.I have been biting my lip since the start of this topic. Mr Hunts reply put me over the edge. During early Oct I was fishing during the afternoon with 2 units running.I was wading waist deep in the flat area just below outlet 3.Sharing the water with two other gentlemen,we were all spaced a fair distance apart. The fish were midging like crazy in that slower back water area.Mr Hunt ran two fly fishermen by boat up to the area between rebar and shute 2.On the drift Mr Hunt deliberatly manuvered the boat so close to the two other waders that they could not even cast. They could have easily smacked Mr Hunt with their 9 ft fly rods, and I'm sure they were considering doing just that. Then Mr Hunt procceded down to cut in front of me,again the boat was so close I could have touched it with my flyrod. The boat was directly between me and the fish I was targeting. There was no apologies from the boat, they didn't even acnowledge my presence.Just Mr Hunt telling his other two in the boat"those fish are midging like crazy" I wonder how the two Mr Hunt was guiding felt having been placed in that situation, being that rude to other flyfishermen. I was blown away by this behaivior, ruining an otherwise beautiful fall afternoon. Bruce Omans High Ridge Mo.
  5. Here is his reply: Hi Bruce, Thanks for your email and interest in my underwater fish pictures. I appreciate you asking about my day at Taneycomo. I didn't do too well under the fish ladder. The current was very strong, and it was difficult to even stay in place. Most of the larger fish were right in the plunge pool below the ladder and I wasn't able to hold my position long enough to get good pictures. Later in the day, I spent some time in Lake Taneycomo and was able to get a few pictures. That river is filled with fish. Underwater, I could see hundreds of them everywhere I looked. It was truly amazing. Once they sounded the horn, and released more water through the dam, again, the current became unbelievably strong and hard to work in. We left and went over to Table Rock and I got some pictures of a nice flathead catfish. I'm sending along a few of the pix for you to see. Thanks again for your interest. The Branson area is wonderful, and the fish are terrific. I will be back next fall to try again. There is potential to get some truly beautiful shots there. I just wasn't able to do that on this trip. Eric Engbretson Engbretson Underwater Photo
  6. Phil,I did talk to him.He was there with his dad who has a place on Table Rock.He was wondering if it would be ok to get in the water.I reffered him to the hatchery folks,he said they told him go for it. I haven't seen the fish ladder pics on his site yet,I'm thinking about emailing about Taney pics.
  7. When I was at Taney last I saw a dude snorkeling in the pool below the new fish ladder with some fancy under water cameras.Check out his web site for some underwater photography. Some pics are local,Tablerock&Taney, many are not. www.underwaterfishphotos.com
  8. Did you try brown head/ginger???
  9. It's the best there is an old timer I met years ago(I've been fishing the park since 1964)called himself Bosco. His bait is basically dough bait. Those who knew him either loved or hated him.
  10. BOSCO BAIT! without a doubt
  11. Thanks
