With clouds, it didn't really matter. Once the sun popped out, pink was good.

Didn't try the mad cow, but it looks like it might work!

For the crappie it's bandit 300's a long ways back in 18-25fow... the walleye came on some other baits that'll run 22' deep.

A buddy and I had a good time trolling for crappie yesterday morning. Found a couple 14" slabs mixed in there also!

Great report and I love the boat setup! I haven't focused on walleye much yet this year, but have had decent luck with the crappie up until about a week ago. They started dispersing from my late spring areas and transitioning to a different pattern. I'm going to have to dig out my logbook before I head back over.

I went over on Saturday morning and trolled for a while, the fishing was tough! Brought home 5 keeper crappie and turned back a dozen shorts. They had moved out from the area I found them the week before. Found them in another area, but not many were hungry!

I'm going to be there in the morning. Going to troll mid lake for crappie, then bounce some of my favorite points for walleye. Any certain depth you're finding the walleye in?
-
I caught 17 keeper crappie, and as many shorts, last weekend also trolling bandits and flicker shads in 20-25fow. I had to get the baits down 18' deep to even get bit though. Are the crappie still running that deep?

I started using the navionics boat app on my iPhone and love it, the best $10 investment I've made in a while. That $10 gets you all topos in the U.S. It shows topo to 1', plus roadbeds, bridges, culverts and other structures. The best part is you can download individual lake maps directly to your phone so you don't need cell service to access them.

Buddy was asking me about this tonight, reminded me of an old fishing show featuring Jim Rogers. For the sake of nostalgia, it belongs on here also. Check it out!

I catch walleye the best in May on the Flats in 12-16 FOW beating a crankbait on the bottom. Usually sunrise and sunset are the best times. The red fire tiger crankbait that I mentioned earlier works very well for this. I always wondered if sunfish are spawning on those flats at that time!
-
I agree that the chart and purple tiger are good on Stockton, but I have a hard time getting away from my bandit 300's. My favorite "all time" crankbait on Stockton was the bomber deep Flat-A in Red Fire Tiger, which they discontinued 5 years ago. That lure out fished them all!

Sounds like an ideal rig for 1 or 2 people in the rocky ozark streams. Id like to get into a smaller boat w/jet someday for running way up the James. -

Thanks Phil, it's spent a few nights at your dock when we've stayed in the cabins. I think it will suit someone else's needs better than mine these days. It's just time to get back in a deep v lake boat. Most of my trout fishing these days is spent in my waders, not out in the boat. This thing is setup great to troll for those big browns though! -

Few more pics for anyone looking for a shallow water rig. Surely there's someone out there looking for a boat for Taneycomo. -

It is a good cat rig, but lately I've used it mostly trolling for walleye and crappie. I originally got it for a skinny water boat for taneycomo, runs almost as shallow as a jet. With the jack plate cranked up it has about 2 inches of skeg sticking down below the hull. I spend most of my time on bigger water now and am going back to a deep V. Gonna miss this rig though, it's like a boat version of a 4x4. -

Bandit 300 has been the hot lure for me. I fished a local crappie tourney a week and a half back and won it on bandit 300's. It was for largest 15 fish, we ended with 9.8lbs and big fish of 14oz. We didn't have any huge slabs that day, but of the 15 we weighed in, we had an 11.5" average per fish. We only had 2 keepers in the well 2hrs before weigh in. Then we got into them and boated 20 keepers in an hour and a half. There were people in that tourney that caught more keepers than us, but big baits usually catch bigger fish. The hot colors were grenada shad, taco salad on that sunny day. Other good colors are solid pink, solid black, or black/pink. I've been trolling cranks exclusively the last month, with the exception of this last monday when the winds were to strong to make it to my main lake areas. I've been trolling in the mile long bridge area. Some days I find them in 20-35fow in big spawning coves, other days they are on mainlake points with small coves from 14-30fow. These are free ranging fish, so sometimes you have to try some different areas before you get into them. But once you a couple good schools, just keep turning around and running over them and you'll get some exitement. We had 6 rods out, and about every pass over the school you would have 3 fish on at once. I troll cranks alot on stockton, so shoot me a message if you'd like, and I'll try to point you in the right direction. However, I'm no expert in this area, I just got into this method a few years back.
