  1. thanks Pat. I'll look on the site but I believe it is the yellow body with brown hackle one.
  2. Ok, I'm having a senior moment...What is FC Crackleback? I'm going to have to try the deep crackleback stripping. Sounds like you guys did well. I hope to get down next friday or monday. I'm hot to try out my new Sage Vantage 5 WT!!!
  3. Got my leaders yesterday when I got home. Very nice looking for sure! I put one on my new 5 wt. Sharkskin line so I'll git it a try. While I was out of town last week I stopped by Bass Pro in Cincinnati and picked up a Sage Vantage 5 wt and some WF Sharkskin. So far some testing in the backyard pond only. The Vantage is sweet and very light for a 5 weight. Weighs only 4 grams more than my Loomis 4 wt. The Sharkskin is some shooting Stuff!! I would guess it easily shoots out 10 more feet than my Rio line. Maybe more. So far I'm very impressed with the Vantage. Very nice caster. I hope to get to Bennett in the next couple of weeks try try the new rod and leaders. Thanks Troy and Emma!
  4. JAH, I'll be interested to see what you think.--RCGUY
  5. Thanks Rich, Are the feathercraft ones mono? They don't say.
  6. PC, I got an email form Troy this morning. He is fishing Bennett now. NoLuck got me turned on to furled leaders and now I'm hooked. Troy is suggesting a thread based leader in his email. I might just send send Emma a check for a couple. Jerry
  7. Anyone tried these at Bennett? What color would you get?? I like Furled leaders I got at Weavers just OK. They do not have the ring at the end and makes it a little difficult to replace the tippet. See link below. http://www.thesimontons.com/Fishinggear.html
  8. Hi All, We'll see what we can work out. I'm going out of town for a few days this week. BTW, I went back to Bennett this last weekend!!! Two weekends in a row. First time ever. Caught some fish and loved every minute of it. Stream is a little high but looks pretty much back to normal. I fished Zone 1, at the island, a lot, and caught fish off and on all day. Changed flies a lot. Caught 5 in row on a John Deere (my first time to use). Caught several on tricolor glowball, several on a brown soft hackle and red brassie. The crowds are down a little it seems to me. I start ed about midway on the island at the whistle and had a 75 yard stretch with just me (sort of how I think heaven must look ). I really like that area. Sat afternoon I drifted everything I had in the fast water below the bridge. I caught 1-3 inch trout. Yep, 3 inches. I was just about ready to tie on the whole fly box and let 'em pick but I decided to leave the area. I had done so well the Sat before. Oh well. Back up to just above the gauge house in the evening and caught 5 or 6 on a soft hackle just under the surface on the swing. They were sipping midges, I suppose. All in All I had a great time and some pretty good fishing. On Sunday I vowed to sleep in but woke up at 5 and ready to go. I tried to go back to sleep but could not so I headed to the Stream. I was the first one in the parking lot up by the island!!!.. had to kill an hour. I managed to mess with my tackle for a hour. I had a whole hour so I redid my leader, changed flies several times because I could not make up my mind what to start with, and then proceeded to tangle everything up in the dim morning light and almost missed the whistle!! darn, I had an hour to kill ! The stream looked beautiful as the sun was coming up. We are really lucky to have a place like Bennett. My family has seen a lot in the last 4 months. My Mom and Dad are both in different nursing homes and I realize you better enjoy what time you have left!!!! My Mom and Dad fished at Bennett when I was a kid and introduced me to the sport. This was back when you could camp next to the stream. Anyway, enough babbling. PS. Unit 20 at Vogels Motel has an air conditioner that sounds like a Mac truck starting up every time it cycles on, in case you are thinking of staying there....bring hearing protection. This is my first John Deere fish in the pic.
  9. Sounds like you had a ball! I did OK myself that weekend.
  10. Ok lets think about August on a get together on a saturday. I'll post something later.
  11. Rich, Think we ought to try to have a get together this summer? Secound or 3rd week in July?
  12. Back to work today. Sat was slow for me. Caught a 5 or 6 in the morning on a dark red midge up by the island. Caught a few in the fast water in the afternoon. Sunday was good. Caught 20 or so on a Zebra Midge sz 18 in the fast water below from 12 til noon and then headed home. By sunday the stream was looking pretty good. No Luck, I meet your friend Van up by the spring on sat night. He said he taught you everything you know
  13. I'm here at Bennet at Sand Springs motel. Tough fishing today, I thought. Caught a very few on various stuff. Pink GB's, Hares ear nymph, Pink thread jig. Yesterday I caught 15 on the Pink thread jig fishing just above the whistle bridge. On was particularly nice. The stream is still a little high and a little murky. We'll see what tomorrow brings!
  14. Thanks Rich! I have a room for Sat night at Sand Springs. I'll be down friday and sat in my little silver egg car (3 door yaris) Stop and say hi if any of you are down there.
  15. Thanks Pat!!!
  16. What color San Juans seem to be best?
  17. Sounds good! I'll do the "no rain" dance.
  18. Anyone going this weekend? I'm thinking of Sat. I don't think I've ever been on a Memorial Day weekend. Looks like there is a 60% chance of Thunderstorms the next few days. If they don't get too much rain it might be pretty fishable.
  19. Ok what is a .028 ccks?.. I 'm hoping to head down sometime this weekend. First time this year!!!!! I gotta get out of town!
  20. Sure is fun to check in once in awhile from work to see the fishing... makes me want to head down Cricket, You're a hoot dude! I've not been around for awhile but I'm gonna head down to Bennett some day soon.
  21. I liked the vid, especially the part about the worms and corn...I like cheese myself.
  22. How are the water conditions? I lost my link to the Gauge House. If I ever find it can you tell me what normal flow is? I'm kinda dense I'm just waiting for a good day to run down there for some catching.
  23. Looks like a good list to me. I'm actually looking forward to the Bennett Cand R fishing. I haven't been down for months. I hope to get down the 15th and 16th...or some time around there.
  24. Thanks for the report! What size hoppers?
