  1. Sounds like a good time! I should go but got family things to do. Somebody take pics of the new additions to the stream.
  2. Good deal, I'm stuck at home for the time being.
  3. Great video Brian!!!!! I gotta get down there this year!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Welcome! There is tons of great info here and great group of guys. I am from Shawnee myself and fish Bennett mostly and some warm water around KC. Jerry
  5. I'm still waiting....Somebody take some pictures!
  6. Thanks for the report. I need me some fish like that.
  7. That's what I was thinking....guess I'll go chamois shopping. Sounds like something fun to tie this winter. I'm thinking about an !/4 inches long and a bead in the middle or lead.
  8. Thanks Murdoc! I have some white bunny skin that I have tied worms with but have not tried them. Guess I need to try them. I've heard of cutting up soft gloves also.
  9. Please don't make us hurt you.
  10. Good report thanks. Killer Worm?????
  11. I always had fun about 20 years ago fishing a couple of urban lakes in Kansas..Wyandotte County and Shawnee Mission. My 30 yr old son still remembers when I took him at 6 years old and we really got into them. Nice size, good fighting Rainbows. I was pleased a Bow was his first fish. It might just be me but a trout is still my favorite fish to catch. I haven't fished the urban lakes for years but lots of people really enjoy it. It is a great way to get out of the house during the winter.
  12. There are certainly better places to fish in a natural setting. I fished the Niangua a couple of times this summer and enjoyed the solitude but I still like fishing the park. I hate shoulder to shoulder but I usually avoid that by going during the week and trying to avoid the really crowded holes...like the hatchery outlet hole. I really hope they just don't stick blue pipes out of the ground.
  13. Has anyone found any documentation on exactly what all the improvements are? It would be interesting to know more of what is planned. I been looking but can't find anything.
  14. Sorry, I still have no idea where this is. Zone 2?
  15. There is a nice 4 lber or so up in zone 1 hanging out in front in the handicap ramp. I'm sure there is more!
  16. Just for the heck of it I took some pics of myself fishing in zone 3. Trying out my new little 14 mp camera. I set the camera on the bank and then ran out in the stream!! Felt like an idiot but no one was around. I imagine the Trout had a good laugh!
  17. JDC, I'm a slow learner. Actually I have nice pheasant tail nymphs in my box but have not done well on them...probably because I don't tie one on much! I need to try them more. I've been hooked on midges the last couple of years. I need to use a PT and Midge dropper...OMG the deadly duo!
  18. I'll try the Pheasant tail next time. I was going to try a PT and a scud dropper but didn't. Next time. Jerry
  19. FFF, I new I should have stayed by you by the island for the afternoon fishing pickup! Next Time! Let me know when you're heading down next time. Jerry
  20. Well I was down Sunday and met FlyFishnFool and Paola Cat up by the island. I had no idea anyone else was going so it was a pleasant suprise. Fishing was slow for me but I did manage a few on assorted color sz 18 midges. The wind made casting a challenge at times but the weather was warm for this time of year and it was great to get out. I fished zone 3 a little in the afternoon a caught 2 trout and 3 chubs on a peach egg. Tried an Olive wooleybugger but got nada.
  21. I must be nuts but I download Podcasts on fly fishing (there are many) and listen to them while driving 3 hours to Bennet. I'm pumped by the time I get there.
  22. Thanks for the reports. Dead drifting the bedspread?
  23. Lamson Konic and Guru here. Great reels so far!
  24. FFF, that's just mean!...but the folks at work tell me the same thing....oh wait..WORK is a 4 letter word to you retired guys
