Hi All,
We'll see what we can work out. I'm going out of town for a few days this week.
BTW, I went back to Bennett this last weekend!!! Two weekends in a row. First time ever.
Caught some fish and loved every minute of it. Stream is a little high but looks pretty much back to normal.
I fished Zone 1, at the island, a lot, and caught fish off and on all day. Changed flies a lot. Caught 5 in row on a John Deere (my first time to use). Caught several on tricolor glowball, several on a brown soft hackle and red brassie. The crowds are down a little it seems to me. I start ed about midway on the island at the whistle and had a 75 yard stretch with just me (sort of how I think heaven must look ). I really like that area. Sat afternoon I drifted everything I had in the fast water below the bridge. I caught 1-3 inch trout. Yep, 3 inches. I was just about ready to tie on the whole fly box and let 'em pick but I decided to leave the area. I had done so well the Sat before. Oh well. Back up to just above the gauge house in the evening and caught 5 or 6 on a soft hackle just under the surface on the swing. They were sipping midges, I suppose. All in All I had a great time and some pretty good fishing.
On Sunday I vowed to sleep in but woke up at 5 and ready to go. I tried to go back to sleep but could not so I headed to the Stream. I was the first one in the parking lot up by the island!!!.. had to kill an hour. I managed to mess with my tackle for a hour. I had a whole hour so I redid my leader, changed flies several times because I could not make up my mind what to start with, and then proceeded to tangle everything up in the dim morning light and almost missed the whistle!! darn, I had an hour to kill ! The stream looked beautiful as the sun was coming up. We are really lucky to have a place like Bennett. My family has seen a lot in the last 4 months. My Mom and Dad are both in different nursing homes and I realize you better enjoy what time you have left!!!! My Mom and Dad fished at Bennett when I was a kid and introduced me to the sport. This was back when you could camp next to the stream. Anyway, enough babbling.
PS. Unit 20 at Vogels Motel has an air conditioner that sounds like a Mac truck starting up every time it cycles on, in case you are thinking of staying there....bring hearing protection.
This is my first John Deere fish in the pic.
