  1. Man that was great time last night at the Jimmy Buffet show in St. Louis. The show was held outdoors at the Riverport Amphitheater. It rained until 3 PM, then the sun came out and we were blessed with a star filled night and 60+ degree weather. Those Land Sharks know how to throw a party. The only s*cky part is the traffic. This are very few access roads into that place. Later, FFM
  2. Phil, I will throw my hat in on this one too, for the Busch Conservation Area. FFM
  3. Thanks Leonard!! I don't know if I will be able to hit the water today. I'm feeling a bit......... under the weather. I was at the Jimmy Buffet concert last night in St. Louis. I partied with 20,000 of my closest friends. Man we had a great time....... I think. Was anybody else there last night? Later (I need a nap already), FFM
  4. I'm with HFDH on this one. Not much in the line for Kid activities in the Montauk area. Tan Vat is a great place to cool off in the summer. As for the campground area, there might be some other kids arounds for them to play with. Other wise walking the trails is about it. As for you Leonard, don't forget to bring your "special coffee". Hopeful the water will be in good enough shape so you can fish outside the park too. Later, FFM

SIO3, I guessing you want to be riding in the pace car, running a video camera during this trip so you can watch all the action first hand? Heck call up NASCAR, they might setup a NASCAR Hot Pass free preview to cover this event? SIUS, I sure hope it works for you. As for ratchet straps, make sure you are using quality ones. The Buffalo brand has been known to slip a few times. Later, FFM
  6. I just repaired my noe booties the other week as well on my Cablea' breathables. I did exactly what John said, I hung the wader up ans slowly poured water in them until I found the leak. tehm marked the spot. I then turned the waders inside out, and allowed them to dry. I used Aquaseal on the inside of hte waders. My leak was on the back side of the heal and since I had the wader inside out, I cupped the heal inward so when I applied the aquaseal it would form in its natural shape. I allowed it to setup for about 12 hours. I then hung the waders back up and did the water test again. So far so good. I have not added any aquaseal to the exterior yet, I might do so as an extra line of protection. Later, FFM
  7. I got woke me up this morning as well, the pictures frames were shaking for a about 30 seconds. At first I thought it was a tornado, but there was nothing going on outside. The epicenter was by the small town of New Salem, IL close to the Indiana border. Here I thought a vibrating bed was just installed. Be safe out there. FFM
  8. Leonard, I'm curious about something in your photo. Why is there an indicator (aka cork) to the left of your body, but your fishing rod is to the right of your body and the fish is in the middle? I can see the lure in the fishes mouth and the line goes to your right. So why is the indicator there? later, FFM K Ahne
  9. hfdhoosier, I was at the Kirkwood, MO Sam's club located at I-44 and Big Bend (at least 10 in each size were on the shelf). You might want to call the Fairview Heights store to see if they have them in stock. FFM
  10. I just got back from my weekly lunch hour run to Sam's club (in the St. Louis area) and saw they have a seasonal shipment of Chota Breathable Stocking Foot Waders (Sizes: M, L & XL) for a very reasonable price of $65.00. This is a good price for a quality name brand breathable wader. I could not find a model number or name on the box. I did take a pair out and slipped them over my clothes, the fit was good. Unfortunately, I was unable to field test them even though there is plenty of water out in the parking lot. Later, FFM
  11. I saw this article about a Japanese man that built a canoe with disposable Chop Sticks. I thought this forum would be a great place to share it with all of you. Enjoy Here is the link Chop Stick Canoe Later, FFM
  12. twoset, I hate to bust your bubble but double or tandem fly rigs are legal in Missouri trout parks. There have been a few discussions on this forum related to that topic. Here is one them: Tandem Fly Rig - Trout Parks Later, FFM
  13. Thom, I saw the info on this show the other week as well. Here is the Web site link TU OnTheRise On this site you can send in places where you think TU should do a show from. I sent in two locations, but have not been sent back a reply yet. It should be enjoyable to watch. later, FFM
  14. tax, I found this info of John Hogue on the White River and he was fishing out of Newland's Lodge back in Oct 2007. Is this the fish you are talking about? Here is a link to the site: http://fish.newlands.com/Newlands_Photo_gallery.htm --- What a Fish!!! John Hogue, from Sand Springs OK, with a huge German brown trout weighing 29 pounds. John was on a trip with Air Assurance from Tulsa. His guide was Bob Klink. This whopper equals the largest fish ever taken out of Newlands - another 29 pounder in 1982 by Bobby Brown of Cullman AL. Oct'07 --- later, FFM
  15. huz001, Welcome aboard. We don't get too many posting from that Huzzah area so we will now be expecting them. later, FFM K Ahne
  16. Al, That bow is a little pig. Hey... what is that silver looking ball in front of the bow's mouth? Is that a bead on your fly? Later, FFM
  17. 10pt, Great info. Flooding has its good and bad points when it relates to fishing small streams. Good that it can create different fish habitat. Bad that it can create different fish habitat (because now you have to figure out where all the new holes are and how to fish them). Let's all get out and enjoy our newly remodeled stream! later, FFM
  18. smallmouth man, I know this reply does not pretain to bass fishing, but the info below shoes how the new host of Trout Unlimited's show "On the Rise" got to where he is at today. It is a great story, is just like everyone else has talked about above, you have to be in the industry to get anywhere. The full article can be found at: On the Rise - preview later FFM ----- Frank Smethurst is the host of Trout Unlimited's "On the Rise," a television program that will air this spring on the Outdoor Channel. Raised outside of Atlanta Georgia, he went on frequent family trips on the Eastern seaboard that contributed to his early fascination with the outdoors. Frank began fly fishing at the age of 6 under the mentorship of a neighbor, Ron Curry, who was an early pioneer of salt water fly fishing in the Florida Keys. By age 12, Frank was working at the Fish Hawk in Atlanta, and learning still more about the sport from the shop's owner, Gary Merriman. Frank supplemented his wages by tying custom flies for everything from trout to tarpon, and worked steadily at the Fish Hawk until he was 18. Frank attended the University of Georgia, and after fishing extensively in the greater Athens, Georgia area, graduated from the Henry W Grady Journalism School with a degree in radio, television and film production. As Frank finished his education, he simultaneously began his career as a fishing guide in Telluride, Colorado. He moved there permanently in 1989. As Frank developed his guiding career, he began to blend his passion for fly fishing with his studies, and has appeared in numerous television and film productions over the years. he placed third in the 2003 Fly Fishing Masters and won the 2004 Fly Fishing Masters along with his friend and teammate, Giff Maytham. He also produced and appeared in the acclaimed film, Running Down The Man with his friends Ben Knight and Travis Rummel of Felt Soul Media. In Trout Unlimited’s "On The Rise," Frank continually travels the American countryside with his Toyota Tundra and custom Airstream trailer, striving to blend the stunning visuals and great settings which fly fishing for trout continually offers. Along the way, he highlights TU’s important efforts towards preservation of coldwater resources, and learns more about the big picture of TU’s very real contribution toward the sport and the resource that he loves and cannot live without.
  19. It sure helps if you look in the mailbox once in awhile... you might find a surprize or two. So with that all said... I GOT MY FLIES... and they all look great. I think a few of them might even fool a bluegill or two this weekend. Now I'm waiting for the time to fish. Maybe Sunday? Thanks to everyone in the swap. FFM
  20. Tim, BTW: Congrats on the adoption! Since Rhode Island is so small, I would look at fishing the other states around that area like Connecticut. back in '97 I fished the Housatonic River on different days. The Housatonic River has a fantastic Trout Management Area that begins in West Cornwall near Route 112 and Route 7, and runs downstream to Route 7 and Route 4. This is back in the days when I just started fly fishing. So I was only able to catch 10 or so fish. But like always, I had a blast doing it. Later and have fun! FFM
  21. Welcome Mongo!! Can't wait to hear the stream report after your April trip. BTW: Does "Mongo" have any reference to the movie "Blazing Saddles"?
  22. Phil, Yes, mile marker 142 is west of Rolla. Lebanon is mile marker 130 so I hope that helps out. later, FFM
  23. Some nice looking chocolate milk.... I have seen the stream high before, but not with that much brown color. Weaver's also indicated there were 3 people fishing. I wonder if they were "schuffling" to catch fish. later, FFM
  24. Nice brownie. I think you need a bigger net dude!! later, FFM
  25. I think I will have to tie me up a few of those for my next fall trip to New York. Thanks for sharing. FFM
