  1. Phil, very , very, cool.
  2. Who !! What a pig !! Hope you were able to release it for me to catch.
  3. Your theory has merit, the stretch factor. Will a short piece of 6x break before a long piece? That would be easy enought to test. Tie up a few and give it a tug. Mark T.
  4. It may be 15 ft from the top of the earthen dam but, in Phil's video it looks like water was sloshing over the top of the flood gates?? Let's hope the crest is for real. Mark
  5. My wife and I, along with twenty members of the Ozark Fly Fishers, stayed at Lilly’s Landing this past weekend. I want to thank Phil and Marsha and their staff for treating us to a perfect outing. Phil and Marsha are the best host and hostess that you could ever have. The accommodations were perfect, Brian Shaffer gave a very informative talk to our group Friday evening and on Saturday the Lillys came back from Texas, after visiting their new grandbaby, to make sure that everything went well with a catered lunch. Phil even gave one of our members a few pointers on his presentation. I don’t know how Phil found time to arrange for perfect weather, water generation and fishing but somehow he did. It just could not have been any better. Thank you, Mark Thalhammer Ozark Fly Fishers
  6. Congratulations Phil! And thanks for taking care of the details for our outing before you left. I know you were pressed for time and appreciate that you made sure everything was handled. Mark T. Ozark Fly Fishers
  7. Thanks, that is what I needed. MThammer
  8. I am not finding it in the "general forum". I did a search and nada. If someone knows what topic it is under please let me know. I did find a discussion on tout beads. Now, this method is similar but seems better since you use flies instead of beads. Has any one tried it? What are your thoughts? Fish mortality is always a big concern and if this reduces mortality it might be something worth considering. One thing I find interesting is that when you use this method your fly size is no longer dependent on the size of your hook. Interesting. MThammer
  9. Has anyone tried the Moffitt system?? It sounds like fishing with beads, like they do in Alaska, but instead of using beads you use flies. It looks like it has a lot of advantages. If you are not familiar with this technique and want to see a video on it go to.... http://www.moffitta ngling.com/ control/system The only thing that probably needs to be different is a little thread on the circle hook to make it legal. I wonder what you would use for the underbody on the fly, maybe a thick quill might work? If anyone has tried this technique on Taney, let me know what you think. Thanks, MThammer
  10. What about wood or cork? They are natural, and some have a scent. I think the regulation should be that the only thing that is illegal is something that would trigger a strike from a blind fish. We should tie a fly out of coffee beans, that doesn't look like anything that fish would be interested in and see if the fish will be attracted just becaue of the coffee bean. Just my opion. MThammer
  11. I have never had a problem with insects....possibly because the water is so cold. Mark
  12. Keep in mind that Taney is not a comfortable wet wade.......it is VERY cold. Mark
  13. Opps never mind. Should have checked all of the other topics before I opened my big mouth.
  14. Hi to all. I would like to get in some night fishing the next time I am down. Does anyone in town carry the glow in the dark light sticks AND the indicators that they fit? Thanks, Mark
  15. Yup. Looks great. But as others have commented the background is too dark which makes the text hard to read. Simple fix. Other than that A+. mthammer
