  1. Alex - Yes that was me. We didn't do very very well in the morning back when we were both fishing in the same area. Most of our fish came out around the bend a little later in the day, but we did get a couple nice ones right at the end of the day when we stopped back in there. My parents used to own Antlers Resort so I usually gravitate to the whole Jakes Creek area of the lake, especially when I don't have much prefishing time.
  2. We fished in Jakes on both Saturday and Sunday for the big bass tournament. Saturday we caught about a dozen fish with six keepers on chunk rock banks with wobble heads. All the fish were in about 10' of water. We had a 3.5lber and one just under 4 that got us a little of our money back at least. Our biggest 5 would have been between 15-16 lbs, but we really had to work for them. Sunday was horrible and we could hardly manage a bite. After the wind kicked up we packed up the boat and headed back to Iowa. Neither of us would have wanted to run down to long creek in my little Z7 anyway. I was a little disappointed in the way the weekend turned out. I don't get to fish Table Rock much anymore and have always loved coming down March - May. I had all my normal Table Rock gear packed - grubs, shakeys, swim baits, etc. and between the water clarity and wind a lot of what I brought was useless.
  3. I would probably be one of the guys you consider a "lurker" as well. My parents live down there and Table Rock is my favorite lake to fish so I like to keep up with what is going on down on the lake even though I live in Des Moines. I don't post much since I only get down there a few times a year and probably won't get to head down that way again until May.
  4. Came down for the weekend with group of guys from Iowa that have been posting on this site. My parents have a resort on Indian Point that we all stayed at together for the weekend. We were planning on fishing the AIA yesterday, but ended up not doing it for a couple of reasons. From what I had been hearing from my Dad it sounded like people were catching big bags up the rivers which is an area of the lake I am not familiar with. Also, our buddy (Cyclone Bass) had been having trouble with his steering and with all the wind didn't want to get out in main lake. We figured we'd stick around and fish with them on Sunday morning. Anyway, we ended up having a pretty good weekend fishing wise. On Saturday EP Iowa Bass and I caught about 10 - 12 fish with 3 pretty good keepers that would have weighed between 9.5 - 10 lbs together. Sunday was much better. We fished for half the day and ended up with about 20 fish. I'm guessing if we had done the tournament we would been in the 16 lb range for a five fish limit. Not sure if this would have done any good yesterday but we were happy with it. All of our fish came from the back end of coves that had small creeks running into them and we caught all of our fish on some form of salt and pepper grub. The majority of the bass we caught were largemouths and kentuckies. Also caught a few nice whites and one nice smallmouth that was over 3 lbs. If the bass were active on the surface I would let the grub sink 4 - 8 ft before starting my retrieve. If nothing was going on the surface I'd let it get down 15 - 20 ft before starting the retrieve. We had no luck on stickbaits or jigs. The water temps we were seeing were between 46 - 48 degrees for the weekend. Hopefully we'll be able to get down again this spring after things start warming up.
  5. I would like to thank everyone who put on the tournament. Everyone was very friendly and there were some great prizes given away. My friend and I had been planning on coming down to Tablerock from Iowa this past weekend to visit my parents and do some fishing when I saw the post about the tournament. It sounded like a good cause so we decided to fish it. It seemed like it was kind of a tough weekend for fishing for most people, us included, compared to other experiences I have had with Tablerock in the fall. We did end up finding a few fish early in the morning on swim baits in the bushes and then later in the day in deeper water on Carolina Rigs on secondary points. We ended up the first spot outside of the money, but were just doing the tournament for fun and to help donate. I really enjoyed the entire day and hopefully can get down to Tablerock to fish some more events.
