  1. I tried to develop a kayak to simulate the hull of the Old Town Vapor 12XT Angler from bass pro.
  2. Thanks guys...been self employed for several yrs...cabinets etc... Got into boats in 06.... Wile wating on epoxy to glass the inside of the boat..... Cleats for the side deck panels (taped inplace to se what they look like..The side decks will only be 4 1/2'' wide.. Notched out to hold fishing rods tucked up under the side decks..

  7. Sanded.. Got the outside epoxied... Fliped over to do the inside...it is a wide boat..
  8. Monday I took the yak out to Prairie Lee and fished up the creek channels around from the launch ramp. Caught some blue gill and crappie then hooked into one on the 6'lb. ultralight rod and broke my line...Afew min. later I caught an 18'' flathead cat...All on a 1/16 oz jig with a little orange trout worm...That was fun... Then today I hit Odessa lake and caught a 20'' Channel Cat on a Berkley Gulp 4'' minnow.
  9. Thanks guys mabe this one can hit Shoal Creek in Oct. if it is still on...
  10. The last side panel is on and I shortened it making the depth at midship 8.5''... This hull is symmetrical and has 2 1/2'' of rocker.
  11. 16X36 Brazos River Dory designed by Gerald Kenedy ( http://www.theoldmansboats.com/p/boat-plans-for-sale.html) This boat has a lot of lumber in it compared to my last build the TV15-29... It has only 5 forms but all but 2 of the panels can be striped right on the forms.. The strips are 1'' wide and the first riser panel was to difficult to get them to lay right so I did what Ron does and laid them out on a flat surface and mark them out like a regular S&G plywood boat. The next panel down was striped and glued right on the forms, as with the rest of the panels (alleviating the need to layout on a flat surface) using the adjacent panel as a marking guide to cut the panel to shape.... The panels were sanded to 3/16 thick... Not a hole lot of wire ties are necessary.... Epoxied the seams and won't add the last side panel until I can take the clamps off..I will be able to glue it on with wood glue...
  12. It looks pretty big I wonder how many acres it was and how long it took to drain?
  13. It is together next step to fill all the seams...
  14. I tought I would try a superlight build...3/4'' foam board frome HD. I am resurrecting my first build from last year...http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=24442 It will be nearly 2' longer and much lighter than the 65+lbs.... The construction is better now that I have had more practice building kayaks... The forms laid out with oak strips tacked on to check out the lines of each chine.... Used the oak strips to mark cardboard for templates... Had some scrap foam to try out the flexability...
  15. Yep that plastic is heavy...That is why I built this 15' 33 lb.der http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=29804
  16. Wow this is one stable boat I set the seat in at 8'' of the floor and works great can almost stand up in it... Now I can take my 6 yr. old grandson in this one... To try it out I went to Odessa lake 4 miles up the road.....
  17. Well another one is about to hit the water....cedar strips from more free lumber..4 beams 11 and 1/2 foot long..
  18. Hay it is just a mirror image of the digression of our society today...It will have to bottom out..which it is hastily spiraling down to...before any change can take place...
  19. I was their at the Bennit state park las week Wed.-Fri. I took a friend of ours teen son who wanted to do some trout fishing, I didn't have waders and didn't last too long wading in that cold water. I hadn't been to park in some 20 yrs. I discovered they had a launch at the end of the park so I put in my kayak and paddled up stream. Well I noticed on the other side of the river the water was getting murky and I heard heavy equipment up ahead and along side another spring that feeds into the Niangua they were adding gravel to ,what seemed to be an eroding bank... Well I paddled up this section 3 different days and they added top soil to the top of the bank to finish it off...I don't know if this is the section you are talking about or not...
  20. A few weeks ago at Lone Jack Lake...I need to take some pics. of the teenager I take fishing standing in the 12 footer I made...I sit on the back deck of it for a better position...The other is a 16 footer I made...
  21. Griswald Ford on down is some nice fishing...Last year I caught some real nice brownies in the first deep hole from that bridge... Bridges of the Little Niangua http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=24232
  22. Here are a few more detailed pics. of the motor conversion when I first put it on my canoe... http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=24091 As far as lifting the motor in the kayak I pulled the release lever rope then pushed both foot pedals forward... The splice in the wiring was done with a trailer type plug... This guy has some good photos... http://wavewalk.com/blog/2009/09/17/john-zoltners-motorized-w500-fishing-kayak-new-york/
  23. They are not in the KC. area...but went to Springfield Sunday and down by Wheatland they are thick... Went cat fishing on the Little Niangua Monday ...I noticed the cicadas were only being taken by the perch....
