  1. Darn I came across this post and Virgil Ward ,I thought that name rings a bell, a very old bell. Like when Harold Endsley used to eat at a stake or barbecue place in Martin city...long ago...memories....
  2. As far as fishing the lake behind bass pro they have catch and release signs up I noticed during the kayak padeling class they had last year.....
  3. Well I-70 is shut down from K.C. to St.L. I hear they have 21'' in Warnsberg with up to 10' drifts. I'll just go shovel a path to the shop tomorrow to work on the kayak
  4. I am selling my 14 footer ($400) the build pics. are here... http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=24442 I need to make room for another kayak I'm building
  5. Even if you don't use the fiberglass cloth the epoxy is the toughest finish you can use. And a lot of guys will mix graphite powder into the epoxy resin and coat the bottom to make it slide over rocks etc. better....
  6. I take it you are not going to epoxy the wood...
  7. I haven't made any progress (no deck on it yet) but the temp. was up here in K.C. yesterday mid 50's so I got antsey and went to Prairie Lee Lake to try it out...I think it will be fine... man the water was cold and ice was on the feeder creeks. The bottom dropped out finally today..40+ mph. wind gusts... won't be till next year now..
  8. Troutguy please post pics. of the build...
  9. That first link has some beautiful boats...
  10. The multi chine hull. Look at the hull at the center of the beam I would think this would be pretty stable when leaning to one side verses the sharp chine of a 3 panel jon-hull. Just square off the ends...Make a cardboard mock up first...
  11. Just take one of these hull designs and square off the ends. http://www.jemwatercraft.com/proddetail.php?prod=TouringPirogueTV15-32
  12. Lee how much does that boat weigh....
  13. yea... another wood boat builder...Here are plans for a 15'X44'' wide dingy that takes 4 sheets of ply. http://www.jemwatercraft.com/proddetail.php?prod=DKDingy15 Like the multi chine hulls.
  14. The deck is laid on and the template for the spray skirt laid on top.
  15. A cardboard mock-up of the deck.
  16. I have seen both ways at the same time, you definitely need to start at the sheer line for sure.
  17. I was thinking mostly of just a paddle-scenic trip. Be nice to get a few kayakers to make a trip to the Mo. river.
  18. Any one know of good places to access the little blue?
  19. wating on epoxy resin..
  20. Time to sand, any volunteers?
  21. Well this has been one of the most learning experiences of my 30 years of wood working. I can appreciate all the hard work that goes into designing strip type hulls and all the tweaking and getting the bugs worked out of a design before the forms are perfect. And the sequence of laying the strips down when it gets tighter toward the bow. I have worked myself into a corner "so-to-speak" and using a steam iron to bend and twist has been necessary. Now it is really tight. Oh well it will have it's own personality and it's just a fishing boat anyway...
  22. Great care must be taken when laying the first strip. I used the level to check the measurement between the strip and the level, making both sides the same. I find a 1/16'' off can be seen when siting down the strip causing a dip.
  23. The stiff back, in which the forms will be screwed to.
