  1. You certainly better plan on it. It won't be non-stop but it'll feel like it.
  2. Michael, I'm definately IN on this one as well. Your seminars are alot of BANG for no bucks! Thanks for all you do to make all of us better anglers. loo10
  3. Ha-haaaaaaaa This made me laugh out loud.
  4. Hit Taney late Sunday eve after church with friend Steve Wagner from Jefferson City. Actually he's from Bland but who ever admits that??? Sunday eve was tough with one decent fish, a 19" rainbow pictured above. It was caught on a rapala just before dark. On Monday (a govt worker holiday), we arrived to wind & water!!! While we preferred to fly fish, it would have been a little much to manage the wind, water, and my boat. So we threw cleo's, spoons, and rapalas. Caught just enough to keep it interesting until about 3 pm. Then it got hot!!! Anything with silver or white took fish. They are definately locked onto shad right now. Fun trip. Oh, by the way.... Steve caught a largemouth bass above Phil's. Imagine that with all the water that's been running!
  5. Who is the manufacturer of these small circle hooks?
  6. Upsetting the masses....Oooooo what fun. I eat trout....sometimes. I catch and release....most times. I keep brown trout...1 fish, 1 time 20+ years ago. I lost a friend....cause I talked to him about his "shuffling problem". I fish from my boat rather than wade...50/50 split. I flyfish exclusively....no, I sometimes sin and spin. I will share with you how to tie any fly in my box & I do not like fishing tournaments. You may not agree with what I've said. I may not agree with you. But I will defend your right to enjoy our sport within the laws as they are written. So....if you want to eat a few of those trout your tax dollars helped pay for??? Bon Appetite!
  7. I have a large motor but barely ease it through when there are waders. I do not throw a wake at all and try to be as considerate as possible. I do not support a hp limit. The size of our motor isn't the problem. It is what's between our ears that is the problem.
  8. Michael, I will be cruising the Caribbean or I definately would be there. This is a topic near & dear to my heart. Good luck...hope the turnout is even bigger than your last seminar; which had your store busting at the seams! Word to the masses....you need to attend Backcountry Outfitters seminars if at all possible. Lots of helpful info. loo10
  9. 1/100 oz jig heads??
  10. Thanks Phil for the pictures. Have you heard, is the Cooper Creek ramp cleared off?
  11. Was it Gink? No wait...I meant Xink. Er....uh...no, I remember...Stink! Rub your fly with Stink. Especially if it's pink....I think. Wink.
  12. While the freezing rain pelts the window of my office…. and my tenants moan about why I haven’t spread ice melt yet…. And the Governor issues a statewide Hazardous Travel policy… I am reminded that LAST NIGHT at 6 oclcock I was catching trout in 74 degree weather. Ain’t Missouri a kick in the head???????
  13. Trout. No walleyes last night.
  14. I release all browns. But creek chubs?? Mmmmmmmmmm..... now them's tasty!
  15. I was out last night. But I fished down at Powersite. Beautiful night. Several decent fish. Didnt take a fly rod as I wasn't sure how far I'd need to cast. Used Rogues mostly. Had fun till the Siberian Express hit at 7pm or so. Found out I'm not too bad trailering my boat in a 100 mph crosswind. Leonard, what kind of lite indicators do you use? loo10
  16. griffin....huh?
  17. It has been my experience that using flourocarbon tippet will put more fish on the end of your line. I use it almost exclusively unless I am fishing on top. Flourocarbon sinks so when I'm fishing humpies or other dries; I will use a mono tippet as it floats better. I am sure there are others on this forum who will disagree. That is always the case. I prefer Scott rods...others Sage, St. Croix, Temple Fork, etc. It's all in what you believe in. For me....I believe the cost of flouro is worth it.
  18. Let's not get our panties in a bind here. I don't care either. Never have. But we've had those on this forum who did... or acted like they were above such a thing while doing it themselves. My point was that businesses ARE getting promoted so let's be done with debating it. Personally, I appreciate the knowledge of who does what and if it's helping the masses catch more fish...great! And if someones making a few sawbucks in the process...good for them!
  19. I believe this post ought to put to bed once-and-for-all whether or not it's ok to promote one's business on the forum.
  20. Hmmmmmmm Michael...let's see... Yesterday, I yelled at the tv while watching the Rams get pounded and then today, I got up early and came to work. You, on the other hand, caught massive trout for two days running. I don't know...maybe you won.
  21. 'Tis dangerous to mock the Giant Taneycomo Squid.
  22. Fished last Monday, Opening Day - Catch-N-Release season. Started with #12 tan cracklebacks, finished with my last #12 Crackleback as the front blew thru. Myself and a buddy probably caught over 100 fish between us. Wjat a magnificant morning!

    new forum

Interesting topic. Well, I guess I've been guilty of all of it. I've been the comic relief. And I've had my butt jumped on because I offended someone, although accidentally. I've posted reports - good and bad. I've posted big fish pictures. I've given my 2 cents when nobody really gave a darn. I've hung out at my local fly shop and visited about what's been posted the previous evening. I've met some cool guys thru this post... Met a few pompous windbags too. Truth is...I like the forum. I like the variety. I like the give-and-take of the members who actually realize IT'S FISHING! I wouldn't change anything. Good fishing all. Life is short so smile, laugh, and fish all you can.
  24. I enjoyed your post very much. It made me feel like I was there with you. Most of what you shared, I've experienced. Good reading....it made me laugh. Thanks. By the way there are no crocs or gators in Taney. The giant killer squid got all of them.
  25. Earliest known Leech pattern was tied by Ug; a well known Neanderthal fly-fisher. I think there's a picture of it on a cave wall in Wyoming somewhere. It was dubbed with the stained scrotum hair of a male Triceratops. Ug was the first tyer to say, "Don't lick your fingers." There, that should settle the great Leech Debate!!
