  1. "BPS (Bass Pro Shop) having a boat test facility on Taney" is a disappointing thought. But so is that Vegas-style eyesore they've turned the Branson Lakefront into. I love fishing Taney. And depending on the circumstances, I fish it all different ways. Boat - wade- flyfishing - artificials - bait. Sometime I catch-n-release...sometimes I keep some to eat. So I truly understand all angles being expressed in this post. My vote is for anything that improves the fishing resource. If that's outlawing tournaments - I'm for it. If it's improved minimum flow - I'm for it. If it's broader length slots - I'm for it. If it's anti-business but good for the fishing - I'm for that too.
  2. Sometimes, though, you don't know what to do. On plane, very little wake. Off plane...a lot of waves. How 'bout this one... You're idling up past Fall Creek... waders are out as far as they can go... boats are anchored right in the channel. Where in the heck am I to head my boat????? Guess I'll have to get me a "Branson Duck" and go right up on the bank.
  3. That said.... I don't think tournaments help the fishermen OR the resource. Just my opinion...maybe I'm alone in it.
  4. How 'bout we outlaw tournaments? That way everyone won't be in such a hurry. I don't dislike tournaments for what they do to the fish... but what they do to the fishermen. In case you haven't noticed... the more tournaments that are organized on Taney; the worse the problem gets.
  5. Working on your sewer? Awwwwww......... you resort owners have all the fun.
  6. With Table Rock starting to turn and the cold weather expected to last, I imagine we could see some shad soon. Make sure you're ready when/if it happens.... it's an awesome time to be on the water.
  7. New Mariah Carey' CD......$ 14. Damage to Boat ..............$ 8,000. Showing your friends the picture where you ran your boat 60 feet up on dry land.......Priceless!
  8. Depends how I'm planning to fish. I love a soft 4-wgt for soft hackles, and a 5 is a good compromise for most situations. But years ago, I picked up a 6-wgt. with a full wells grip. It feels the best in my hand so I usually "prefer" it. Find one you like the feel of and the looks of and start there. Then add another...and another...and...
  9. Maybe you're right. I looked it up in the Wildlife Code. Chapter 6 3 CSR 10-6.405 (3) (A) "Any species taken into actual possession, unless released unharmed immediately after being caught, shall continue to be included in the daily limit of the taker for the day when taken except as authorized in subsection (3) (E) of this rule." Can't find where it says you must quit. But I sure woulda bet the farm on it. Fished Taney a l-o-n-g time, learn something new every day. Phil...my apologies for doubting you.
  10. So, are we counting on a technicality here? You obviously had your limit of TROUT and kept fishing for TROUT. I "guess" we could say we were chasing something else but come on... I think we're splitting hairs here. I wouldn't risk it. I think it's bad advice.
  11. 'Scuse me for bringing this up but once you put that 4th one in the livewell, weren't you limited out? As I understand it, you shoulda quit fishing. Maybe it was a freudian slip or were you then fishing for those Taney walleyes?
  12. This has prompted another thought... While driving across Table Rock Dam I wondered: If they use the new flood gates at Table Rock, what gets washed away? The hatchery? Seems like it'd wash away alot of those buildings & such. Love to see an aerial photo. Does anybody know the scenario?????
  13. Most of the times, I just don't think people know any better. They're so used to seeing bass flopped into the water on tv that they think it's that way with all fish. Dont get me wrong, I've had fish go belly up on me before too. But I've also had them do that and I've kept working with them and they finally swam outta my hands. I've also fished with guys who just needed to see the right way to do it. P-A-T-I-E-N-C-E ! Remember - If YOU do it right, those who fish with you will too.
  14. I like the pictures on the forum better than the latest ones on the general website. Beautiful trout lying on the dry gravel or being squeezed with a rag 'bout halfway make me sick. I hope they at least ate them cause they probably didnt make it.
  15. Last trip down (2 weeks ago) I found an area that had maybe 20 of them cruising. I'm fishing this next weekend and I plan to try and hook one with my fly rod. Some of them were massive. I just hope i don't spook them.
