  1. Michael, When this thing starts to gain footing, I'd like to be involved. I don't care if you participate... You just can't win! loo10
  2. As outspoken as I have been about tournaments, I would participate in a C&R tourney under certain conditions. The FlyMasters format is especially intriguing. I like fly fishing from my boat so for my 2 cents.... I'd prefer a boat or wade tourney.
  3. Although a C&R tournement might have some merit.... PLEASE do not encourage any more tournaments on Taney. It's just a matter of time before the new Bass Pro at Branson Landing starts having them every weekend as it is.
  4. No change. A new law of this type could not be enforced. Too much grey area. Sorry.
  5. I don't want to see them outlaw boats either. But JET SKI'S are a whole different matter! Those can go anytime!
  6. Did well on cracklebacks the 2nd & 3rd. About a size 12 or 14. Light tan. Pinched a #8 split shot on at the knot & stripped it back... similar to a beadhead. And fish DID appear bigger than at Bennett. Good luck.
  7. Let me jump in here..... Daytime: Scott S3 9' 5 weight, 3-pc. Punches into a wind and turns over woolly buggers & flies with indicators. Or stimulators & hoppers in the summer. Nighttime: Scott STS 9' 8 weight, 3 pc. Throws bigger woolly buggers and sculpin patterns. Someday I'm going to hook that fish of a lifetime ( 15# +) and I'll be able to handle him with this rod. But I also own a little Scott SVS 6', 3 wgt. I love this little rod. Wish I could find another one or 2 of them to get for my sons. Anyone own one of these they'd like to unload? Let me know. AS YOU CAN SEE, I'M A SCOTT MAN!
  8. Amen...amen...amen.
  9. Fished Maramec for the 1st time on Thurs & Fri (3/2-3/3). Met a friend. Maramec is a different animal. 'Bout anything goes. You're standing alongside one person using jigs, another guy flinging cheese worms, and another guy using powerbait. There's fishermen wading all the way across the stream and up the opposite side casting right at you; their lures landing within feet of you. But amazingly, we didn't get hung up together too much. Overall, people are friendly. Although there are a few jerks scattered in. I was using a flyrod and doing well on cracklebacks when a guy yelled at us and said, "Hey, this ain't Bennett Springs!!!" O.K. I had to give him that one. The main holes seemed to hold alot of fish with few in between. All-in-all...a fun few days.
  10. Tippet 7, I quit smoking my ci-gars years ago but if you're ever upwind of me, please light one up. I love the smell of 'em. So.... "Loo10 gladly relinquishes some of his air space to the fine gentleman named Tippet7 who stands upwind toking on a fine Partagas." (Now...if you pass other wind...deals OFF! loo10
  11. Hoov- Im from Springfield too. I hate to go at night by myself..especially if I take my boat. Ever want a partner...yell. loo10
  12. A Taneycomo virgin huh? I remember my first time. Anyway...... Be glad you're bringing your boat. Taney's a tailwater and if you have a boat, you won't be left high-n-dry if they start running the generators. Although with decent weather in April...that's doubtful. Stock up on cleo spoons, rapalas, and taneycomo drift rigs. You'll do fine. Good luck.
  13. "The Times They Are A-Changin..." Taney has changed just like everything else. 30 years ago I was a train robber at Silver Dollar City, Branson was a sleepy lil' town, and Taneycomo wasn't crowded at all. My Dad and I caught lots of big fish. 'Course, there was no fly shops in the area, & no fishing reports on the internet either. I tend to prefer fishing out of my boat these days. Less crowded and I can be as mobile as I want. You can catch fish from one end of this lake to the other. You see...I ain't afraid of a good fight. Never have been. And when a guy wants to walk right thru the area I'm fishing; well......I'd like to carefully lay down my rod and whip his a**! But those days are gone 'cause these days & times, you never know when someone will stab or shoot you. So I've adjusted my tactics and pick less crowded areas. That's why, although I prefer to flyfish... you just might see me anchored down lake, kicking back, sipping a a cold Leinenkugel waiting on a stupid one to eat my inflated nightcrawler. Yep, I like to eat 'em occasionally too. I love fishing Taney and I refuse to let some peckerwood ruin it! On the other hand..... we kill a couple of 'em...maybe the message would get out.
  14. "Shaffer Boy"..... that has GOT to be the best nickname ever!!!!!!
  15. I bet it's on the south side of the lake between Fall Creek and Short creek. I had a guy tell me i could launch there years ago so i did. I was careful to park my vehicle & trailer out of the way and when I came off the water.... well, I guess this guy was looking & waiting for me. He went all apey on me. I haven't been back since. It wasn't that great a spot to launch anyway. And it sure wasn't worth his guff. Couple years later, me and a buddy of mine drifted past that same spot and saw a couple of gals sunbathing along the bank. It looked like they were topless. Only one way to know for sure... so I pulled out my binoculars. Yep. Topless. They were getting all excited and waving us on but all the luck.... they were only generating one or two so we drifted r-e-a-l-s-l-o-w. Ha-hahahahahaaaaaa I didnt see that ol' fart out there raising a stink that day. So I think he might have "Selective Grumpin'".
  16. Michael, You carry any of that "Ice Off"???
  17. Michael, Good to see you on the board. All the best with your new little one on the way. God's blessings, loo10

    pothole

Thanks. I've always enjoyed myself so much on upper-Taney that I fail to venture out & try new areas.
  19. Dano, I justy saw this and it is now the background on my computer. Thanks & God bless. loo10

    pothole

I'll give you a call or drop by Monday. Not sure how my days gonna play out.
  21. Thanks. it's been several years and I'm not sure I cut off all the red meat. Anyway...the taste didn't float my boat compared to other fish I ate. Maybe I'll just C & R.

    pothole

I've never fished pothole. I'm off work tomorrow and thought I'd go check it out. I don't really care what I catch. Just want to learn a little about it & catch a few fish. Recommendations?
  23. White Bass is a fish I've never really pursued. I've heard they are a BLAST to catch. My question... are they good to eat?? I caught a bunch of wipers (hybrids) several years ago & I wasn't impressed. Maybe I didn't clean or prepare them properly.
  24. Maybe we should ALL launch there. If he needs something to do, we should accomodate him. (Just kidding)
  25. Trout cam is loaded with fish today. wow!
