  1. I heard they ticked off the wrong people in the corp and the Dept. of Interior. Their initial proposal was for 18 slips and they tried to change it up to 40. Not only no roof, only BP owned boats may use the slips. No courtesy dock there for shoping. Also heard that MO water patrol make an informal request that BP not test boats upstream of the Landing.
  2. Went to the landing on opening day. Very unique place to spend time. Nice to sit at a restaurant and look out over Taneycomo. I can't wait for them to open up the board walk and bass pro.
  3. I'm taking a fishing trip to LOTO the week of May 22 and staying near the Grand Glaze Bridge and State Park area. Could you give us some pointers on bass paterns and what lures/areas we should concentrate on? Also a crappie report would be appreciated. Thanks for any information....I'll be sure to post a fishing report when I return.
  4. Your exactly right. The water patrol wants to replace their high $$$ cigarette boats on LOTO. Don't punish all fisherman/pleasure boaters for the problems on 1 lake in MO.
  5. These are proposed increased boat fees for Missouri: $25 for vessels under 16 feet in length. Currently $10. $55 for vessels at least 16 feet but less than 26 feet. Currently $20. $100 for vessels at least 26 feet but less than 40 feet. Currently $30. $150 for vessels at least 40 feet and over. Currently $40. http://www.lakesunleader.com/articles/2006/05/02/news/01.txt http://www.bransondailynews.com/story.php?storyID=1002
  6. We're also having trouble finding a lot of crappie, but the bass are hitting great.
  7. Thanks for the info Bill, and I get your point. I know in another corp lake the docks were purchased by private individuals and maintained by the Corp. Thought it might be the same here. I just know it was the same deal last year. I was out there when someone pushed them back in the water last May and I thanked him (Don't remember what dept. he was from). Still not sure why they block off 3/4 of the ramp and pull the docks out every winter. Sure makes it a lot easier to load/unload passengers. I guess once I get used to the convienience, it's hard to do without.
  8. What's the deal with the courtesy docks not being in the water at the state park boat ramp? Air temps are warm, water is warm, fish are biting, people are boating, why aren't things geared up for summer? Is the corp responsible for moving those docks? Heck, lakes don't freeze and the ramps are used year around, so ramps should remain open and docks in the water. BTW, crappie were scattered tonight, but the bass were close to shore and hitting on rubber aligators in long creek. We were fishing chunck rock shoreline in about 12 ft of water.
  9. Who has the cheapest boat gas on the lake? Also, who has the best looking babe to pump the gas?
  10. If you are talking about table rock, I would agree that they are mostly between $10,000 and $20,000. The closer to Branson, the more expensive the slip. A guy around compton ridge north of the dam built a large dock and was selling them at $20,000 per slip...Before the storm destroyed it. I have seen them as high as $30,000. Off of hwy 86 around ridgedale and blue eye, used ones go for $10,000. Not sure on prices around Kimberling. Nice thing is you can probably sell it for the same amount or more.
  11. I hope they don't give him the record. Pretty easy to snag a large female bass off her bed in those So. California lakes. If they caught it once before, he can catch it again legally and in a sporting way.
  12. I pulled this article from http://www.hometowndailynews.com . Has anyone heard about the type or size of boats that Premiere is planning on putting on Taneycomo? Branson Landing Soft Opening Update By Greg Brock March 16, 2006 One Branson alderman was vocal this week about his fear that people will think Branson Landing is failing when the soft opening is held May 26th and there's empty storefronts sitting there. Alderman Dick Gass wanted to know what was going on... with only about 50 stores set to be open on that day. Branson Landing is to have 450-thousand square feet of retail space.... Rick Huffman of HCW... And HCW has pretty much decided that Premiere Yachts of Chicago will operate one of the Landing's two marinas... Bass Pro has the first one... but the Coast Guard is concerned about the size of boats Premiere Yachts will operate based on the size of the wake created by their boats and how that could affect the shoreline.
  13. If I'm by myself, I usually sit in the middle seat and have the canoe pointed forward. I have also turned it around and have sat backwards in it. The molded seats are the same both directions. Doesn't matter which way you are facing in this boat. Took me a while to learn and practice the J stroke, but now I can track it pretty straight by myself. Most cabela's and bass pros have a test lake. They'd probaby let you try out some canoes.
  14. I actually never found much for used canoes. I found the best price at Scheels all sports. Similar to a Cabela or bass pro. http://www.pelican-intl.com/canoes.html Not sure where you live, but you can search for dealers. Just call ahead to see if they cary canoes. Not the fanciest canoe, but stable enough to do a lot of casting and horsing in fish.
  15. I moved down from IA about a year ago. Would really like to get into some summer time catfish. Any pointers on where to go or what to use around Branson? In IA I'm used to fishing with Liver and shad guts in lakes on shallow flats next to old river channels from shore. My bro and I tried Table Rock a few times with little success. While visiting LOTO (lake of the ozarks) We've used shiners off the docks about a foot under the water. Would the same work here?
  16. Another alternative to 4 stroke motor is the Evenrude E-tech. They are a 2 stroke, but will meet the new stringent EPA regulations. Supposedly about as quiet as a 4 stroke, less moving parts, lighter, and hardly need any maintenance. They have more torgue and are faster than other motors. I've read quite a bit on them, but haven't talked to many owners. They are fairly new and are concerns of quality. Anybody use one on Taneycomo?
  17. I bought a canoe a couple years ago. Things I wanted were: 1. A boat that I could fish out of comfortably in a stream or lake. 2. Something I could use myself or with a partner. 3. Something I could load or unload myself. I was prepared to spend some money to get something I liked. Did a lot of research on them. Not many used canoes. I looked at a lot of canoes and found a Pelican canoe that had 3 seats, fishing rod holders, and cup holders. Better options than the other canoes and the price was low. I have used a pelican 2 man bass boat for about 10 years with no problems. Same basic material as the canoe. It is stable. I am able to paddle myself with the J stroke while sitting in the middle seat. I've fished for catfish, trout, and bass. I've taken it down some large rivers and lake taneycomo and it takes the boat wakes well. Took it on a 3 hr fishing trip with 3 people just last weekend. It's a 15 ft Pelican Colorado. Weighs 70 lbs. I bought a couple foam pads to cary it on a car roof and a SUV. Does what I want it to do.
