  1. If it is Brown it is Down Great job way to keep putting you clients on nice Browns. I will be back down on Monday with trip #4 on Monday
  2. Bill I was not not going to get personal but you did so here it is. I have a lot respect for a lot of people. Phil is one of them and I can not belive he allowed your first post on here it would be like him or I bad mouthing one of customers in public. You probably do not even know the first conversation that we had it was right after we bought the shop you called to informed I had better not be guiding with out a license out of a motor boat, in fact you had done your research and found I had no Capt. License. Did you bother to do you home work and see who I was working with NO You jumped right to the ASSUMPTION I was guiding illegal. There has only been one person on here that I have problems with we worked it out and now get along great. Any time you want to bring your game against mine bring it BUT YOU HAVE TO LEAVE YOU CORN AND MARSHMELLOS AT HOME. I would like to know when the last time I got a Sage for free; I buy them just like everyone else does. Now you sound like some one that is very close to me that actually thought the manufactures gave me the stuff to sale. When it sales I have to pay. NOT THE CASE As far as trips go I had right at 100 trips this year not bad considering that is my 4th job first is a Father to my girls second is a husband to my wife 3rd is a FLY SHOP owner 4th is a guide. Why don’t you step up to plate and try and carry $250,000 dollars of merchandise in your B&B. I am not for sure where to start but any time you wish to look at my resume I will be happy to share it with you. Not only does it pertain hunting trips all over the U.S.A that I have guided but it also has guided trips fishing Trips that I have hosted all over the U.S.A. I will guarantee that I have never acted this way or have I ever publicly humiliated any of my customers. My knowledge base does not end with one water it goes all over fresh to salt water Bill I run a great shop and have a great service and I will be DAMMED if I let some bait chucker get me down. JEALOUSLY BREEDS HUMILITY BRING IT ON BILL ANY TIME ANY WATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Sweet small mouth
  4. I had a client break a Sage TCX $795.00 he never said anything I said oh well it has a warranty on it cost me $50.00 more for that trip. Thats the risk you take. As for the dog crap in the boat I get crap, mud rocks what ever in my boat by clients all the time. That's why we have car washes. When I had my Ranger it still happen that's why they put good quality carpet in the boats that will take a beating and still clean up. If you do not like for your equipment to get used and abused then get out of the business or do not provide any and make your clients provide it all. The point is the ridiculing of clients on a public forum.
  5. Well I have thought about this for about 24 hours I know I will catch hell for what I am getting ready to say. I really feel this unprofessional on the part of the guide. It is a paying person and they should count as much as any one else no matter how they pay, it should not matter how bad they are or disrespectful they are. . I have been told on here that I am exploiter and not a steward of the industry I realized a long time ago that I can not make everyone happy but I do put 110% in trying to. I can assure you I might talk to my buddy about a client or a customer in the store but to put it on a public forum takes it to far. From one guide to another or one fisherman to another have a little respect for your fellow man. Sorry for putting this here Phil I know you would rather me send a PM but this really needs to be said so other people know my feelings. Michael
  6. Just as humans they have distinguishing marks, I watched the video last night at home on a small monitor. I could see the the white mouth just watched it once got here to the shop and watched it again the fish does have a white mouth and I could see the peck fins they are large as well. Just as Brian said it is a pig I bet it is an old fish. I would have to agree with Brian on the stand point of the eggs, as you all know we had about 1200 head of Angus cows be for we bought the fly shop. We had a very extensive E.T. Program(embryo transfer) and we tried not to flush very many old cows because about 80% of them gave us bad eggs. Not sure if is the same for fish I would assume it is. So all they did was eat and get fat just as this fish is doing. What a fish is it a boat, a submarine,is it a torpedo no it is Taneycomo Brown Just think if Taneycomo were managed for Browns what it would create increase the length limit on them just as the White has done. This brown is an example of what it could be.
  7. I saw this fish last week, it was sitting out on the flat in front of outlet 3. They had 2 units on and there were sevearl 20-22 inch fish sitting there. Then a fish with big pec fins and a white mouth moved up. I esitimate the fish to be around 24-25 pounds. All fish look bigger in the water due to the angle of refraction of light through the water. I have seen a lot of big fish and I also have the current state record Brown Trout on my wall it was 38.5 inches long and had a girth of 23 inches and it weighed 27.10 . I wonder if the MDC could measure this fish and let's us know I think it would be interesting to know what it weighed and measured. It is a great fish either way
  8. It was $700.00 A guy from Webb City was the winning bid.
  9. CHUCK &DUCK time oh boy I cant wait.
  10. Me too. I am on my way
  11. WOW The corp runs full board getting lake down when there has been little to no rain. We get 6 inches of rain and they shut it down lake level is 919.2. I really do not understand. Oh well lets take advantage of it and go fishing. I wonder if they had something break down or if something happened down stream to make them have to shut it down?
  12. yea I had a buddy e-mail me this Monday Funny stuff should have had some Mace maybe the guide should spray some in the air to test the wind direction and spray his buddy
  13. Yep he is the best we all can learn from him. I wish I was old enough that when he was teaching at Penn State I would have had him for a teacher. I did not go there but I would have just so that I could pick his brain. I have all of his books and DVDs they are awesome and very educational on how to fish for big fish at night. Speaking of Bill Butts has anyone heard or seen him lately I don't think I have seen seen him since White Bass last year.
  14. Oh boy some more bands
  15. Yep thats where I bought them
  16. I do not think we are comparing apples to apples. I think that DNA and performance enhancing substance are 2 entirely different things. There is a huge controversy right now about a woman in Track and field I believe she is from Jamaica she possesses the DNA of a Man but has the Parts of a woman. They are trying to decide if she should be allowed to still compete in the division that she does. she takes no performance enhancing drugs she is just playing the cards that God has given her. The reason that I bring this up like this is because these are genetically DNA different fish made from a lab after that they are thrown out into the society of a fishes life and if they survive then they get big. It is not like they are coming back once a week for some drink or a shot. I am a member of the IGFA and they have no rules about Triploid. It has to be caught in a legal manor on legal tackle and I believe that these 2 gentlemen did that. So BRAVO for them. I know if I had access to these fish I would be out there everyday trying to break records. I say put them in there and lets us start Exploiting the resource.
  17. With the lake rising and the constant flow of water, Matt and I decided to go down any way and try some new flies. I have a new articulated streamer called the TE very easy to tie I will post the instructions latter today in the tying section. It is a very effective pattern in high water should be just as effective in low water. Here is a pic and one more Ok now for the report fishing was difficult with 4 units on but we did manage to wade down the north bank toward the Rocking chair hole and caught a few on the TE all Bows no Browns. With 4 units on and the water level at 708 we were fishing a type 5 full sink lines they were the uniform sink plus lines. I think between the 2 of us we probably had around 25 fish but whose counting Gave it up at 1:30am (No fish on consecutive cast) In fact the last few times I have been down during the day seeing lots of Bows and not to many browns right now. I would think that with high water a few big boys would wonder up for some fun. There a lot of great Bows up and it is evident with the 30incher caught yesterday. See you down there tonight. Tight Lines Michael
  18. Is it waterproof
  19. You should have said something there was only 2 of us in the boat you could have joined us. I have been taking it out and hitting deeper holes at night. I had not fished the point in a long time so I rowed up there to start the night. Sounds like you had a great night It was Mr. Nelson I installed a radio in my boat about 6 months ago. Next project is a wade up bar
  20. Hum We can call it the yummysculfry
  21. Got out last night after the MU football game which was a little to close for me but it is a W. Put the boat in around 10pm rowed up to the point and started back down ended up down by fall creek, the fishing was hot. Up at the point we were fishing blood red mohair leeches and the ace of spades. As we started to drfit down we were dead drifting the BFE egg and had quite a few takes on it. Not sure how many fish but it was constant fish to the boat. Looks like it is shapping up to be a great fall fish numbers are way up in the trophy area with lots of 18-20 inch fish in the trophy area. One thing that I have noticed this year starting in the ealy summer months is that the sculpin population has just exploded, they are every where you can just about step on one with every step. If you have never seen one just start moving a few rocks and you will.Looks like to me the fish are happy and content with their diet of sculpins, this might just be the year for big sculpins at night to yeild a big fish. Good luck and tight lines. Michael
  22. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their kind words and their support for the shop. Fishhand I, for one, run a clean shop that is very knowledgeable about the local area and several destinations. I am sure there are people out there that do not like me or like our shop. I learned a long time ago that retail is a very brutal sport it used to bother me a lot when someone was not happy. Now I just let it slide of my back all I can do is put 110% into trying to make people happy sometimes they are sometimes they are not. I know that I tried though. I would like to know what you think of every other contest put on out there by any other shop or organization. Let it be hunting or fishing and any type of fishing. The reason I opened it up to any type of fishing is because not everyone fly fishers for the big guys, plus I know a lot of mothers and fathers that do not have the funds or the patients to fly fish with kids. What a wonderful thing if a Child caught the big fish for the year. What a memory for life. Let’s say a big buck contest put on by a local hunting shop. B.A.S.S., FLW, Heartland, they have a fishing contest every weekend. M.T.F.A. trout Derby at Bennett Spring State park. Lilley's master trout tournament Lots of mom and pop shops sponsor all the above events and those are just the tip of the ice berg. I for one hope that this brings more people to the area and that all shops will benefit from this. I am the one that has spent the money to get the prizes. Unfortunately, you say that we are exploiting our resource if you really want to get down to the nitty gritty about this every mom and pop to the big box store and even the guides are exploiting the resources because without the resource there would be no reason for to be in business. I wish you all luck in this contest have a great time catching fish. Michael
  23. Yes anywhere on Taney Any rod any bait, lure or fly The pic has to be to me either by email or by hand. michael@backcountryoutfitters.org It is honesty if you lie then you are only lying to yourself Like it says anybody any where it does not matter if you are with a guide as long as you catch it, there again it is honesty 1 pic will be fine first pic to me wins.
  24. yea I think it was around 42-43 lbs I remember when I used to work with MDC and we shocked a Brown up from the Fall creek area and with the measurements it came out to be right at 42lbs. that was about 9 years ago.
