Yep happens every year some are just worst than others. It has been this way ever since I can remeber I started fishing Taneycomo when I was 10 years old. Just something you have to deal with when it comes to tailwaters. I can bet you though there are plenty of waters to fish when they are running water at Taney. Just to name a few the State Parks,Crane Creek,Capps Creek, James river,Flat creek, Beaver Creek, So basically what I am saying dont let Taney get you down when they are running water 24/7, there are plenty of other species to catch on a fly rod or spining rod. Good Luck Tight Lines Fish On<:::::::::::::::::::::< Michael

Micheal Kyle replied to Micheal Kyle's topic in White River
I think I will leave it be since that fish in my avatar is an IGFA Line Class World Record Thanks though I need to get back down night just have had no time. I assure you all though it was 100% luck because we were going for Whites and a buddy called and said it sucked so instead of going left to Tecumseh we went right down to the White. Glad we did -

Hello Fellow Fishermen, Kristina and I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for the past 5 years. We bought an ailing fly shop and with the help and knowledge of many friends and family we turned the shop into what a fly shop is supposed to be, one that will help you live your dreams. It has been our dream to be out west where the ground touches the sky where the snow flies in July and where the water can be just as golden to a fly fisherman as the end zone is to an NFL player. I can remember the first time I went to Montana and fell in love with the water. We were at the Simmental Jr. Nationals in Bozeman. Everyone that was there had their golf clubs, but my dad and I had our rods. We fished one day and I told him then that I would live out here someday. I guess that dream is about ready to come true. Kristina and I have had many conversations about this and we have decided if we don’t take action now we might never do it. I’m sure you can read into this…yes we are moving, to the Bozeman, Montana area. You might be wondering what we will do with the shop. It is officially For Sale. We’re pushing forward, still ordering merchandise and still meeting our sales goals and will continue to do so as long as we own the shop. We are anticipating the shop might take a few days or months (or more) to sell. We will have normal business hours and sales up to that point. We will in no circumstance have a going out of business sale, as we have worked too hard to accomplish this dream to just throw it away in order to move onto our next adventure. We would like to thank each and every one of you for your continued support. It has been great getting to know and build relationships with everyone. We all have some great stories that will live on, plus I am sure there are a few stories out there that will haunt me in Montana. Thank you for putting your fly fishing dreams with us and letting us help you live your dream no matter how big or small it was. Tight lines and again thank you, Michael & Kristina Kyle

I would think that a guide that allows his clients to drink alcoholic beverages would have have a huge liability case on his hands. Accidents happen believe me I know this all to well. I had a bad boating accident while on a trip to Alaska glad I was not drinking when that happen, the turn out might have been way different. Just my 2 cents worth. Now I do guide on the Local tail waters and have been quite successful but we do have bad days just like every one else does, one day catch over a 100 fish the next day only catching 20 fish. I hear it so often go with them they catch a lot of fish if thats all you want then do that. What I try to do when I hire a guide is find one that will teach me something and that I can take and use back here at home. I had a trip out west about 6 years ago for 4 days he started rigging his rods up just like we fish here at home so we started a conversation about that, he said I was told to put you 2 on a bunch of fish, I laughed and said what does that teach us. Lets do something different so we can learn something that I can take back home and possibly use. So we did I now use this on trips and it has been very successful. I guess what I am saying find someone that is good at what they do be it warm water or cold water and that you can possibly learn from don't worry about how many fish you boat because that will come with time. The two guides that were mentioned here on this thread will do just that they are good. If you want to do a drift boat trip on the tail water there are two shops that do that mine and River Run. In May June the White in Arkansas will be red hot if you are going to be down for a few days you could fish it for one day it is the absolute best trout fishery in this area. So just a few thoughts good luck. Michael

I love fishing streamers during the day on sinking lines even if the water is off you can do this I use a type 3 uniform sink plus from S/A for my 5wt. Flies that will work are the 56er, Black Brown Olive Wooly bugger, Thin Mint, Mohair Leeches in Olive Black, Brown all in a size 10 or 12 AS far as nymph's under an indicator I would use Fl, Pink Sanjuan Worms, any Zebra midges black, brown, olive red or pheasant Tails. The Caddis are starting to pop real good in a couple of weeks it will be even better so you should take a few of those size 12-16. I would also take some soft hackles with me as well.Orange Green and red will work. Night fishing is good I would only do it where you very familiar with. Strip big Streamers and you will catch something maybe only one fish but it will be worth it.if you want to catch a lot of fish down size it for flies any of the above streamers will work colors are Red, Purple, Black my three favorites. As far as big flies Circus Peanut, Bottoms Up, T/a Rainbow, Big rabbit leeches Good luck If you want to see some of these stop by the shop. Michael

I gave her the night off, since it was a school night. She will be back behind the oars come Friday night -
We have had several trips down to the White and it has been fishing awesome. We have had several days where we have boated over 100 fish. We are fishing Streamers on type 3 sinking lines yes even in this low water. Flies that we are using are the 56er, Thin Mint and various sculpins. While on these day trips we have been seeing some great Browns so I did what everyone says that I'm crazy for doing I floated it at night and it payed off. Fishing a type 3 sinking line and the Circus Peanut. One thing with this fly is that you will eliminate the smaller fish. But if you will go out and fish these big streamers it will pay huge dividends. Here is a fish that I caught last night I have no more energy to type any more about it I have been up since yesterday at 6:30am. I Know Terry I have a rough life I will expand on it latter. here is the pic
