We would like to take this time and thank each and everyone of you for letting my wife and I do what we love to do. My wife and I walked into a hornets nest 4 years ago and with your help we have been able to grow enough that we had to find a new bigger location. We hope that everyone will be able to get up here and take a look at the new store and see some of the new merchandise that we have been putting in the store. We will be haveing a re-grand opening on Febuary 16, 9am to 4pm there will be a huge sale with up to 70%off of select mercahndise. The event will also host some of the manufactures reps from Sage, Winston, Lamson, Rio, Fish Pond Tibor, Simms and Cloud Vail which is a new Goretex product that we are putting in this spring. We would also like to say that the 2008 Naknek River trip is full we are now taking reservations for 2009. If you would like to see what you might catch on the trip stop by and take a look at my wifes fish that we just got back from Great Fish Reproduction Studio up in Bolivar. So yes not only did I have to see it up there I now have to see it everyday here, the fish that kick my but in Alsaka. I think evryone knows how proud of her I was just wait untill next year. The new shop is located at 2863 South Campbell Springfield,Mo. 65807 the phone number stayed the same 417-889-6548. We hope that everyone will be able to make it out. Michael and Kristina Kyle

There are times when the power to catch fish some where other than your back yard will take over and you find you and your wife and a couple of buddies in a 60 hour time period travle all most 2000 miles. That is exactly what happen this weekend. The AFFTA show was being held in Denver I needed to talk shop with some of the leading manufactures in the fly fishing industry before our big move. So on Friday afternoon and I mean Friday afternoon we decided to go the show, I had to promise that we would fish and so on Sunday we found our way up to Rock Mountain National Park. If you have never been to a fly fishing show it is awesome and this one is open to the public. All the Presidents and owners of companies are there and they will take the time to talk to you. For tiers Bob Clouser and Lefty Kreh plus many more. Just about the whole US fly fishing team was there and very actively talking and tying. The one thing that I love about shows if you want to spend one day just casting evry rod that you can think of you might just get it done. I'm not sure how many Scott rods that Randy and I cast but it was a bunch and then the same was for Sage. It is a great show and I think that it will get bigger than the FFR show in September. OK on to the the fishing report We went on up to Estes Park on Saturday and fished the big Thompson below Olympus Dam you had about one mile of open water with a little bit of ice, then from there down it was very frozen. Duane had never been to Colorado so after a little tour of the town of Estes Park and seeing the Elk and watching me be stupid with one of the many pet elk in the town and wishing we knew where we could duck hunt, if there was one duck there must have been 5000 ducks in town. I just pretty sure that there were more ducks than people.. So we finally made it to the water to wet a line. The fishing was awesome I had three fish on Randy had 5 fish on and Duane was the big winner he had 17 fish on. Yep I would call it an old fashioned butt kick-en but to me I do not count the succes of the day by how many fish you catch just as long as you have a good time trying to catch fish. For flies we were using a primrose and pearl midge with red head Barbie underneath. Spot the fish and fish to them. I think that the biggest fish was about a 16 inch Brown that Duane caught. We did not arrive back into Springfield until 5am Monday. It was pretty funny we go from cold and snow one day to tornado's the next day. I hope that everyone made it through the big storms. Remember we are moving this week to our new location 2863 South Campbell Right next door to Fin&feather. Here are a few pics of the trip Michael

I guess that is why my dog has been in a bad mood lately. MU plays at the cotton bowl at 10:30 so I will bring a small tv and something to eat, maybe some hopps and barley

Micheal Kyle replied to flyfshn's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
I have not done that much research on it I am going on what they told me. I do know this if I have read this right if you let it dry it dies. So maybe if the the river dries up which is not good for the fish or us fisherman the didymo will be gone. -
Most Comfortable Wading Boots

Maples gym is that Jim and Cathys son if so that just proves how I am.

I cant wait the benefits to this are huge like Phil and Dano have said the bugs will explode and thus give the fish more to eat. The O2 level will keep at a constant and just make fishing awesome, maybe like it used to be in the 70's and early 80's. I hope this will actually happen and it sounds like it is going to. I can see in my future shooting lines and some big fish attached at the end.

Most Comfortable Wading Boots

I was unaware of the runway down at Taney. I thought our main reason was to catch fish not put on a fashion show, Sally. Have a Merry Christmas Michael -

I always recommend to people buying wading boots 1-2 sizes bigger. With Chotas I recommend for most people one size larger. Michael -

Most Comfortable Wading Boots
Micheal Kyle replied to flyfshn's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Yes Chota's are the best boot that I have ever worn. They have The largest toe box on the market and plus the Stl plus are the lightest boot that I have seen on the market with studs. I love the Quick Lace System. Another thing that I love about Chotas are that they are made from a water proof leather when they are wet and or dry they go on just as easy. Since chota redesigned the sole they have had Zero Yes I said Zero problems with seperation of the sole and the heels coming off after a while of wearing. Plus after a long conversation with the factory they also informed me that the sole does not trap bacteria and fungus that cause water born diseases that cause problems on the river system, one in particular is Didyomo I think that is how you spell it. Plus you can not beat the price . Michael -
Fly Fishing Reels ?
Micheal Kyle replied to King Fish's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
I would agree with you on all of the reels that you have selected to choose from. I like the the Lamson Lite speed the best. The drag is awesome plus for it's size it is going to balance a 8' 6" rod the best when it is loaded with backing and line. Both reels are the same weight, I am comparing the #2 reel from Ross and Lamson. The Galvin is a heavier reel. For the drag they both have what they call a a conical drag system in them. They are both priced the same so it pretty much sounds like we are comparing apples to apples and I still will prefer the Lamson over any other reel because of it's look and appeal on the rod. I have to agree lets move on. I think that Mr Hunt does a fine job on the water, he treats people like he wants to be treated himself. He is also not only a fisherman but also an educator out on the water and hats off to him for doing a great job. I would also like to add that I think that this forum is highly educational and I realize I own a shop but that does not mean that I know everything. I too have learned quite a few things on this forum . So at this point in time I would like to thank everyone that contributes to this forum. We are the reason that this forum is one of the best all around forums out there. I truly believe that the reason for this is it just does not limit what we are able to talk about if you use power bait, hard baits, or you just fly fish you are welcome to post on this site, and sometimes we can even vent. Lets keep it that way. Michael

Micheal Kyle replied to Micheal Kyle's topic in Fishing Events
Yes it should be a good time I hope that you all can make it, Terry the duck stew will be ready for tasting around 5pm. I have a Winston rod, Lamson reel a pair of waders and boots and several fly lines. Plus a couple of other events it should be fun. I hope to see everyone there. Michael -

The pentax Optio is water proof for up to 10 feet it says it in the owners manual and on the front of the camera. I talked to Jerry and asked him and he confirmed that I was right. I did see the new Nikon D40x and it looks nice for the money.
