  7. My dad caught a 13lb Walleye In between outlet one and two about 5 years ago. The pic made it all the way up to Kansas City and was the fish of the week in the Star. The people that think that there are nothing but Trout in Taneycomo need to remember that the White River was Damed. The White River had a lot of species in it when it was damed. The first dam was at Forsyth and it was built in 1912 I might be wrong though. So if the fish were there and have been reproducing over the years they could still be there. That is if they have not been depleted. Here are some of the species that I have caught out of Taney in the last 10 years. Largemouth, Small mouth, Crappie, Bluegill, White Bass down by power site, Suckers, Gar, Rainbows, Browns, and A few Cut-Bows way back in the day be for Taney got hot. That is one thing I like about Taney especially when it gets hot you can go down to Taney in the hot months like July and August and fish for shallow bass. Where as on the big lake they tend to get deep toward the cooler water. Michael
  8. Years ago a gentleman gave a couple of scuds he called "Peppy Scuds". these were a killer color combination, but I haven't been able to duplicate by blending dubbing. They were a Grey/light brown combo. If you ever run across one of these you will have to tie it on hiding behind a tree because it will excite the fish to see it. Tight Lines, Skip Perchjerker1 I might be able to shed some light on the Grey/light brown, It's called Aunt Lydia's Sparkle yarn. Or better known as carpet back years ago that is what was blended to make the dubbing and now this sparkle yarn makes it a real good match. If you are close to Springfield stop by and I can show you what it is. I have the sparkle yarn here at my shop. Michael
  9. Glad to see Mrs Ducky and Mr Ducky are going to make it. Michael

  13. Just bring the girls with you. Belive me mine have been in here a lot at night. I belive that they have been in here enough that someone has called child labor on me(LOL). You do not have to bring anything with you except an open mind, because just beacuse that is how we fish does not mean that it is set in stone and that is the only way it can be done. I'm sure there is more than one way to skin a streamer. Hope to see everyone Michael
  14. Thank you all for the feed back and hope to see you all on the 15th Some of your suggestions may take a while though becuase some of the stuff is HTML stuff and I'm just learning how to write html. I think that the quikest way may be just to get IT guy in here and hammer it out. Michael
  15. I did not mean to cause such an uproar I think that it's time for Terry to have some time out.(LOL) I hope you all enjoy the site and hope that you all can make the seminar. Michael

  20. Jeremy the fly you tied looks great and I think that the other baitfish that you have tied with the EP fibers look good aswell. You should come up here to the store or give a call and maybe we could swap some ideas. Davy showed me how to tie this fly a couple of years ago when he was up here at my shop. I had seen them in a magazine but was unsure exactly how to tie them so he sat down with me and showed me one on one. Thanks The Davy Wotton Shad has become one of my favorite bait fish patterns that I fish now, espeicaly if there has been a shad kill. (TROUT) The thing I like about this pattern is that if you want it on top fish it on a dry line if you want it to get down fish it on a sinking line and it will be. I feel that ever how you wish to fish the fly it will be efective just pay attenetion to the fish and let them dictate how you fish the fly. I'm sure other people have done this I'm sure I was not the first. And who knows I may be fishing totally wrong. For the Whites, Hybrids and Stripers I have had pretty good luck with them I fished them some last year down in Tulsa and had pretty good luck epsecially when the fish were very actively feeding. One of my favorite places to fish them is up on Stockon Lake, I'm not sure how many whites that I have caught on them but it has been a bunch it is a very good fly especially when you fish it on a sink tip(150gr-250gr). You want to find the flats that open to deep water and is covered in wind. Thosands of bait fish and a lot of whites. You can sight fish to the schools of the Whites or if it is really windy and the water is all stired up you can blind cast to them. On thing that I will do is get out with my boat and use my graph to locate the bait fish and start casting because the white's will be around some where. I hope that answers some questions. Michael
  21. Wading with water on one must be very cognitive about the changes in flow. You must constantly know where you are and how high the water is . I would never wade Taney at night with water on, but during the day is a different story with one unit on there are quite a few places that one can wade and be able to get out if the water starts to rise. Never wade out with more than one unit on that is about 1000-3000CFS. I know that there are people that would go any way but if you are not familiar with Taney just don't do it with more than one unit. If there is more than one unit on then that will pretty well dictate where you can fish like the outlets. I like number 1 the best because you can get way out and never get to deep . That is where I will fish streamers during the day with a sink tip depending on the flow rate anywhere from a 150gr-250gr. Back to your question though you can wade Taney up about 2500cfs just be very cognitive about the flows I think Taney fishes very well around the 1000-1500cfs. Michael
  22. I have been told that it may be 1-2 weeks before we have power back at our house. I don't even have a weather head or meter problem. But I'm not complaining because who wants to listen. One thing I have learned is that half of the people that you complain to don't care and the other half wished it upon you.(LOL) I do hope that everyone is doing OK and that this did not cause to much damage or heartache for you and your family. Michael
  23. Hello all At this time I am going to have to reschedule the the Streamer fishing Seminar I will probably have it the first Thursday in February. I hope that has not inconvenienced everyone.
