  1. HUH???? You mean that cable up in the air?? If not....what cable?? I don't think I've seen that in all the years I've been coming down there......and if I thought it could have been done....I'd have tried it. griffin
  2. Now wait a minute there rainbow.......I belong to this site and I PROMISE that I can post like a moron better then some ole polock. I don't get over here much.......but don't make me start putting noogies on your head....'cause I will....just for fun. griffin
  3. loo10 - as a show of appreciation for your obviously untreated or unmedicated shizophrenia, I now move that we change your user name to looloo in honor of your posts on this thread. Carry on. griffin
  4. Little Red below Greers Ferry in Arkansas....alot of the same type of habitat, but with much deeper holes in the wadable area (much longer stretch of wadable water too). BIG browns there as well. griffin
  5. These fish that don't make it......do ya'll take it home and eat it or just leave it? I guess it's less then ideal to have the fish die if you had no intention of eating it or putting it on your wall.....but once that sucker is dead....it's just meat. And yeah.....I've heard how terrible the bigs ones are to eat....but that's only because you fellas spent all your money on Orvis gear and nobody taught you how to use a smoker. BTW - nice fish....congratulations!! griffin
  6. Welp, there goes the argument that you don't learn anything on these forums. It never occured to me to use a gun patch.........thanks for the pattern. I'm gonna tie some up for my next trip down. As for the buying of trout fillets in a grocery store....nobody gets mad if you do that so it ain't near as much fun. griffin
  7. Since shuffling is done primarily by people using flyrods wouldn't it just be easier to outlaw the flyrods? griffin
  8. Naw - just having a loooong night at work Phil. It somehow helps me keep things in perspective when I see people getting upset about fishing methods after we scrape half a family off the highway......seems like those fishing worrying people need more grief in their lives to even things out with the folks who really do have something to be upset about. griffin
  9. You see there....that's the whole rub in this deal. Bubba trumps Holier then Thou every darn time. griffin
  10. The only thing I can really say about this topic is that if you shuffle, then snag a 4 or 5 lb. fish, then keep it......you'll likely be hung in the public square by a mob of folks chanting incantations from the "Good Book of Holier Then Thou Fishermen". griffin
  11. I think you should get into a fistfight with them because they are not fishing in a legal method that you agree with. If you're not comfortable with that then maybe carry a big ole stick and wack 'em in the head when you see 'em. darn shufflers.....the end of civilization I say! griffin
  12. Personally, I think shuffling ranks right there with stuffing your spouse in a wood chipper. griffin
  13. I don't believe releasing really stupid fish is good for the gene pool. griffin
  14. Now you done it jscheetz, you've forced me to break out my best fish eating story. When my son, Griffin, was 2 1/2 I had him out on his first walleye/sauger fishing day below a spillway over this way. We had stopped at the bait store on the way and picked up 4 dozen minnows, which Grif always has to be in charge of. The gal at the shop always let him scoop his own, and he'd put them on the floor of the truck in front of him and watch them on the way to the river. So we're out there fishing, vertical fishing 1 oz. jigs off the bottom as we drift, bow upstream with me running the trolling motor. Obviosly, at his age, he's having a tough time telling the difference between a bite and the bottom so he needs a new minnow about every 10 or 15 minutes. He only lasts about an hour or so before he wants to start casting, so I tie a big ole Rat-L-Trap on his rig and he commences to thrash the water. He's happy as he can be slinging that lure and I'm content to just drift along bouncing my jig. After a while, I realize that I ain't really been paying much attention to him and he's gotten quiet. I look back and he's messing with the minnow bucket like he always did, dipping a few out, checking them over, and putting them back in the bucket. I go back to fishing and in a bit I need a minnow. I look back and say, "Grif, whatcha doing?". Little dude mumbles, "nothing". I say, "gimme a minnow"......and he doesn't turn around....he's just sitting there over the bucket with his back to me. I climb down off the front deck and walk back to get a minnow and when I look in the bucket there is only a handful of minnows. I look at the little goof and he's just kind of staring at me. I say, "where'd all the minnows go?" he just kind of shrugs his shoulders and says, "mmm mmmmm mmm" in the same cadence as "I don't know". Now it dawns on me what he's doing and I say, "ARE YOU EATING THOSE MINNOWS????" He starts to grin and when he does I can see little scales running out of the corner of him mouth!!! I say, "darn GRIF!!! DID YOU EAT ALL THOSE MINNOWS????" He breaks into a full blown grin and says, "they're good". We both busted up laughing. I bet that kid ate a couple dozen minnows. So don't be telling me about eating raw fish.....it ain't nothing for us. griffin
  15. My kid likes his fish on his wall....next year he'll most likely add a 20+ lb. salmon to his collection. It's better that way......the kid is so ugly that he'd ruin most pictures of him with fish. AND.........if you think that we've somehow moved past the point in civilization where self assuredness for an 8 year old boy can't be enhanced by prowess in the woods and on the water, including cleaning and eating his catch/kill....then you need to play catch and release with your head and remove it from your...........uh......................net. griffin
