I don't think the CoE makes generation decisions based on anybody's precipitation forcast, long range, or short. Like the previous posts point out, it is a very fine, and difficult balance to achieve. Make room for predicted rainfall, and if it doesn't come, low water. Maybe to the point of not being able to generate power when needed. Leave the lake at close to top of power pool, and one week or a few days of heavy rain, and disastrous flooding results.

Nope. Pot luck lunch. just bring what ever you feel like sharing. On the past we had kind of a list of what people will be bringing. We've had some really great eats over the years. I'll bring my almost authintic, semi-famous jambalaya. 😁

Here is a link to a story about how unusually low it was in 2011 at 906'. http://ozarkadvertiser.com/?p=1954 But to show how quickly things can change, and how hard it is to manage a lake, that was in February, 2011. In April of 2011 Table Rock set a record for flood level!

That's something somebody pulled out of a hat. Not sure there has ever been a "Winter pool" established by the CoE. The lever they are assuming is Winter pool is actually bottom of power pool. Instead of a website that only assumes things, go to the people who actually built, and operate the dam. http://www.swl-wc.usace.army.mil/pages/data/tabular/htm/tabrock.htm

But will they give you fewer, but larger taters, and chickens?

We have been many times, and have never experienced any "aromas" other than the amazing food. My wife has an extremely acute sense of smell, and has never noticed. I can't count the times we have been to DS, and I honestly can not even witnessing a horse having an "accident". I have heard a very few people say they didn't care for various things about DS. From no tableware, to too much show, and not enough horses, to not enough horses, and too much show. But never anything about smell. Sounds like a bit of phantosmia, the brain making you think you smell something.

Phill's survey is indicative of what I'm sure the MDC will find. About half, and half with a bit of a tilt to larger, fewer. But like any survey, the results can be dependant onvwho is asked. If it were mostly the fly fishing guides that float the trophy area in unpowered Dorys the results would be wuite different than asking mostly guides taking families fishing below Fall Creek using power baot, and gulp trout worms. Without knowing who Phill talked to I think that difference was showm in Phill's survey.

Do you really think that is possible? It woyld take not only voters in the area, but across the state to approve a Constitutional change. Is that Mayor up for ellection soon, and just dragging up an impossiblity to say he is doing something? "I’m just never going to give up. That’s just not in me. Failure is not an option,” Smith said."

My source of Andouille has temporarily closed, and I don't know if he will open again by New Years. But I know of another place that is supposed to have some pretty authintic sausage. So there will be Jambalaya at the get together!😁

Not sure what shows will be at Branson Dream theater next year. The last show for Dreams, a Rock and Roll Fantasy is coming up soon. Julie told me she will most likely be at a different theater next year. The "Branson shuffle" as it's called. If you are wanting something other than the old country, which I don't really care for, and my wife simply can't stand, try the Haygoods. Very high energy, upbeat, and modern. Even the few older country songs they do are updated to their modern style. Even though the name implies otherwise, Clay Cooper's Country Express includes a lot of rock and roll, and new country. Both those shows are fare from the Branson stereotype of fiddles, banjos, bib overalls, and hillbilly comics.

I don't do jet boat tours. Might take a kid or two for a ride that are drooling all over the Gator when it's docked at Lilleys, but no tours.

That vote a few yeats ago insured that there would be no more casinos on Missouri. Even if it wete changed, which is nearly impossible, it would never be approved in Branson. The possibility of a Tri Lakes casino is strictly an aluminum foil hat conspiracy theory.
-
The Landing, Las Vegas of the Midwest. I can't stop laughing at that enough to type. That has to be the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard about Branson. Also, check your facts about casinos. By state law there can not be one on Branson. Furthermore, it is a law that would be near impossible to change.

Not an age, or economic demographic. A style of fishimg demographic. Dedicated trophy fishermen, mostly fly fishimg. The majority, if not 100% releasing fish of all sizes unharmed
-
There are many shows other tham "old time" country. For one, the Haygoods. Settimg records every year with the number of sold out shows they perform. Very upbeat, modern, and lots of rock and new country. Branson Dream Theater has had a good run with several classoc rock shows.

Yes, I see younger anglers on the lake. Young singles, or fishermen on a guys weekend. Young families with kids. Also entire families. Grandparents, parents, and kids all enjoying a day of fishing from a pontoon. Not even close to the demographic that would choose C&R fishing only, or a reduced daily limit. As for Branson, there is a plethora of varied entertainment if you look for it. Those "elderly" that Branson caters to are also being created every year. Some in Branson obviously don't understand that people are not born old, but grow older each day. Most of those elderly today, including my wife and me were young, or at least younger when we began coming to Branson. My son, and daughter with their families are now young people visiting Branson. They, as many other families will one day be the "elderly".

Obviously you truly don't understand the majority of people fishing on Taneycomo. "Back in the day"? Before Branson saw 8 million visitors per year (2014 statistics). When Taneycomo was a much less used fishery. Another obvious misunderstanding you have about Taneycomo. From Fall Creek to Powersite dam, because of the very large increase in people fishing, Taneycomo has become a 23 mile long trout park! A put and take fishery, and the majority of people fishing there are happy with it.
-
I never keep any of those "big fish" from the trophy area. They are always released imediatly, with maybe a few seconds for a photo opp I don't even chance putting them in the live well lomg enough for the boat ride to Lilleys for pics there. Besides, those 12-15 inch "dinks" make much better fillets.
-
The vast majority of fishermen on Taneycomo don't fish the trophy area. Most people are after that four fish limit, like it or not. They are not dedicated trophy fishermen, and would not even bother to come to Taneycomo for a "fine trout dinner a couple times per year".
-
That will never happen. Taneycomo would instantly become the least fished body of water in the state. Followed by the elimination of the trout stocking program entirely. Yes, some people, many on this forum would be happy with a two fish limit, or even all catch and release, the vast majority of anglers on Taneycomo want to keep those four fish limits.

Been surveyed a couple times this year. My answer has been fewer, bigger both times.

With Thanksgiving over, and Christmas fast approaching, Time to think about the OA get together at the hatchery pavilion. Anybody in?
-
I think there should be an option for some leniency for first time "ignorance of the law is no excuse" offenders. But not for blatant wildlife hogs. I bet the $300 is less than a buck per fish for what he has taken over the years.
-
Is catching really that much more important than fishing to the people that crowd together like that?
-
Plus they are better eating. Or at least you get more meat out of a 12"-15" bass. You can keep more of them too.
