  1. I saw "Channels" and I was hoping someone caught a channel cat! Be nice to have some channel cat in Taney!
  2. My Gram's Cousin(my third cousin?), in the 80s owned a dock off Joe Bald(before he passed on) and he ran trots with great skill. He used green sunfish(or other perch he can catch) and stuck the heads of all the catfish on the fenceposts near his dock.(Some might remember him). He always said that windy(white cap) nights were the best times.
  3. Miles Per Gallon? I wouldnt know how to figure that if I tried with my fishing outings. I do however have it down to Hours ran per gallon. My old '61 18 horse Evinrude gets me about 2 hours every 4 gallons. So thats 30 minutes a gallon.
  4. Mine will go to Visa, MasterCard, and Busch. Not Budlite....Busch Stadium...Cardinal Tickets!
  5. Where were you fishing?
  6. 50$ got me a pair of these. World Wide Sportsman® Osage Sport Shoes for Men In the water. On the street. These shoes are designed for maximum performance! Here's a stylish sport shoe that's the perfect fit for both casual and water wear. Features a mesh/synthetic upper for maximum ventilation, plus drainage ports in the forefoot to allow excess water to drain right out, and a quick-drying, removable anti-microbial insole. Partial neoprene lining at the ankle for comfort; non-marking, non-slip outsole.
  7. It isnt my rope Crappie I dont fish on weekends.
  8. Nope! Bigger is better no matter the cost. It is the nature of the beast. The human anthill will continue to consume.
  9. Here on the lower Taney there is the myth that nothing but trout exist. I run half a dozen throw lines off my dock at all times and have caught a fair share of cats. I use 3 inch gills as bait and usually pick up a few dozen a year. Last year the biggest was 12 pounds but in '05 I got a 32 pound guy that was pretty nice.
  10. right on Al But you still cant beat those farm raised fish-tank trout! Good eats!
  11. woof woof Terry, I guess there is a few new tricks I could still learn Haha Crappie, how about a crappie pile in exchange for that BudLite?
  12. Welcome!
  13. Reg Enforcement is a joke in this state. I actually had to make an appointment a week in advance to get a motor inspected and that only got done then because they were here to baby-sit one of Phils tourneys. The Master one I think. I actually told that agent that I hadnt seen a DNR or Water Patrol boat in over 5 years on this end of the lake and he said flat out, that they dont go below Branson unless there was an issue, and he added that Taney in general dont have any routine patrols at all other than the occassional weekend or holiday. Its nuts. So if you wanted to fish without a license, in an unregistered boat, keep illegal fish, steal all the ropes off everyones Anchors(dont laugh, someone stole the rope off my anchor Wedsnesday), drink beer on private docks and leave litter all over the place, then Lower Taney is the place to do it. I am thinking about getting a pair of RottWeilers and train them to eat tourists myself. As far as the C&R debate, EAT FARM FRESH TROUT! Let those Bass stay home.
  14. Thanx guys.
  15. Did some spooning for Brownies today. No luck with the Browns but I caught 19 bows in my quest.
  16. Sounds good to me Snakem. I am semi retired and have any day I want off.
  17. Ok OK Haha, I guess the joke is on me, SORT OF. Its diffferent when it is family I guess. I would have worked that deep water all day, even if I didnt catch a thing. Just because I know better. Especially if I had clients. Then again, not my boat, and I was the invited guest. Was fun watching my Bro struggle, soak and wet(while I was snug and dry in my frogg toggs), while I kept saying, "see that point!" and "I bet there are fish on the flat of that cove entrance!" and getting dirty looks everytime I said "We arent deep enough!" I even said once that "I was going to make fun on OAF about some guys wasting thier time beating bushes." Thom, I think it was Jackie that I was razzin by the way, about the docks. Phil, you were right, I was fishing. From Sycamore Cove to Long Beach.
  18. Went out for a few hours this afternoon. Fished mostly the sycamore cove area. Caught 11 bows and 2 sport bass using guppys and fastraps.
  19. I only get on TableRock a couple times a year. I think this might be it for me this year. I didnt like the looks of the lake with the high water and I can think of a dozen other places to go instead. I can fish Taney everyday and the only times I get on other water is when invited by somebody else. Which is nice sometimes but its not the same when you have to sit in the back of the boat and watch feeble minded approaches when you know better. Most the time I would rather just stay home and fish my little cold water paradise.
  20. I agree, the market on oil is gonna see the floor drop out from under them. Maybe not this year but next year for sure.
  21. Its a sibling thing. It was more like a wit of will than it was "Peer Pressure". He did humor me for a couple hours, to no avail and while I hit the shoreline to fertalize a bush he picked up a couple shorts from the shorline while he waited for me to finish my duty and was convinced it was better than working wide open water, wich he detests. It was his boat and he always insists on the front of the boat so I just let him do what he wanted and mocked his tactics all day. I had alot of fun at his expense, including the fact that I was dry as bone in my frog toggs as he fought leaky parkas. I can understand his frustration with the open water. I feel the same way about worm fishing. I cant stand to just stand there and wiggle a worm when I can be aggressive. Everyone has thier preferances wether it be right or wrong. I give my advice and if people dont take it Im not offended by it. I know Im right. Thats all that matters to me. I thought I did have them figured out, and I was working points starting at (near)50ft and working my way in since I was handicapped with no electronics. 6 points and 2 hours later I was not doing any convincing. OH well, I guess thats why it is called "fishing" and not "catching".
  22. Needless to say, I feel defeated. Seemed like everyone has the Rock figured except me. Started fishing the Big Indian/Little Indian area. With broken transducer in hand I had zero luck finding the Grub bite. I couldnt convince my Bro that the fish were deep since I couldnt find them to prove it to him. Plus he had his mind set on beating brush. Yuck Caught a "few" shorts on SB and flippin tubes in the morn and a few on swimbaits in the afternoon. Total for the boat in 12 hours......6 shorts and a boat full of soaked gear.
  23. Welcome!
