  1. We had 2 over LM and about 6 Spots overs nothing big.Couldn't get a hit on a jig or crankbait but they were hitting the spinnerbait hard.I think we are going to have some great fall fishing this year when the weather stabilizes. The water LOOKS TO BE UP ABOUT 7FT AND YOU CAN GET ALL THE WAY UP TO THE BRIDGE IN THE BENNETTS RIVER ARM.
  2. Just spent a cold windy day out on Lake Norfork with Backlash. We caught 15 fish on spinnerbaits fishing the channel swing Bluffs. The fish were on the shore line. The water temp was 65 and as low as 61 up Bennetts River.I Had a great time talking fishing. It made for a enjoyable day on the water despite the weather. Thanks again Backlash...
  3. I have to go with Yellow Creek in Nor.Calif.Not because there are giant fish in there but because of the beauty. It is a winding meadow creek full of browns that love Hoppers. You wear camo and sometimes you have to sneak up on them on your hands a knees. The creek comes out of the ground just above the Meadow and TU campground and once leaving the meadow it flows into a deep canyon where goes about 20 miles and joins the North fork of the Feather River.Because it is a spring creek the water remains a constant temp year around. Most of the time I was the only fisherman on the creek.
  4. Main lake has just a little stain to it.When the lake comes up like this I have found 2 ways to get them.. 1/ target fish in the newly flooded brush and trees that have moved in there after shad 2/ Fish the steeper banks where the rising water has less effect. Dont worry about your trip.Just come and enjoy the fishing.I have been catching fish everyday..before,durning and after the rains. Baits to bring 1/Watermelon/red Baby brush hogs 2/Jigs in PB&J or Ozark Craw with watermelon or Green pumpkin twin Tails 3/Norman shad color deep little N and Craw color Wiggle Wart 4/3/8 or 1/2 Chartreuse and white Twin willow leaf blade Spinnerbait.
  5. water temp is low 70s going down everyday.Last I heard the lake was up 3ft and is still coming up.I havent been down by the dam but the shad are starting to move fron deep water into the creeks.I think that the lake is just about ready to bust loose. As you can see from my report the good fish are starting to hit reaction baits and less plastics.OH the water was still clear to just a little cloudy today
  6. Fished Henderson Park area this morning for about 2 hours.Caught 5 keepers on a Spinnerbait and 2 unders on a Power Hog.Caught a 5lb plus Smallmouth my best on Lake Norfork.Only wish I had a Picture of it.What a fight that fish could really pull.

  8. Press release here with pictures... http://www.xumba.scholleco.com/viewtopic.php?t=1952 "FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Humminbird® Expands Innovative Sonar Offerings With the Addition of Down ImagingTM Highly Popular "Side-to-Side" Picture-Like View Now Includes View Below the Boat EUFAULA, Ala. (Sept. 28, 2009) - Expanding on an impressive list of sonar capabilities, Humminbird® announces the addition of Down ImagingTM Sonar to its groundbreaking Side Imaging® technology. "Humminbird's goal continues to be to provide anglers with the most innovative technology and Down Imaging is the next step in that process," said Dale Logue, product manager for Humminbird. "Adding Down Imaging to Side Imaging, and our new SwitchFireTM Traditional Sonar, the opportunity to find highly productive fishing spots is unprecedented." Like Humminbird's innovative Side Imaging Sonar, which revolutionized the marine electronics industry, Down Imaging presents picture-like images of the bottom. Down Imaging views are focused directly beneath the angler's boat, giving a detailed look at structure and the water column. Down Imaging and Side Imaging together give anglers an incredibly detailed, full 180° view of the bottom. Split-screen viewing options provide the ability to view Side Imaging, Down Imaging and SwitchFire Sonar separately, in groups of two, or all three at once. "Humminbird created an entirely new category with Side Imaging, and now Down Imaging uses that same technology to give anglers an advantage like no other," said Logue. A free software upgrade to add Down Imaging will be available in January to current owners of Humminbird models with Side Imaging (except 797c2 SI) by simply registering their product at Humminbird.com. No new hardware or transducer is required. All new Side Imaging models (998c SI and 898c SI) come standard with Down Imaging capabilities, with existing models (1197c SI and 798c SI) adding the feature as a running change in 2010. For more information visit humminbird.com, contact Humminbird, 678 Humminbird Lane, Eufaula, AL 36027, or call 800-633-1468. " Website: www.dougvahrenberg.com
  9. I would be looking up the creeks and on the flats.Look for bait fish that is the key to the fall fishing on Norfork for me
  10. The Crappies are biting good on white jigs in 15ft of water along the channels above and below Bennett's.The Bass are on one day and off the next and are reacting to reaction baits.Water temp is 77*
  11. As for the paint jobs on a Rogue. The first thing I do with a new Rogue is remove the hooks and give it a coat of Devcon two ton epoxy with glitter. You would be surprized how good they look.. Last winter the most productive Jerkbait for me was this old school Rogue in the old Rainbow trout color.Note the bent hooks and split rings from a striper
  12. The 110 is a productive jerkbait. The ones that I have I bought from Japan years ago for $7 to $8 apiece before the craze. For me the 110's work best on long sweeps of the rod with 2 short jerks and then a long pause. At the cost of the 110's when the ones I have are gone I will not pay the price they ask for them today. As far as the McStick,I have fished with friends using the McStick and I caught just as many fish with the Super Suspending Rogue. If I could only have 3 jerkbaits to fish with it would be 1/ Lucky Craft Pointer 100sp in Aurora Black 2/ Suspending Super Rogue chrome/black back 3/ #10 Olive XRAP
  13. Scott had a hand in the development of the Berkley Hollow Belly swimbait. Here is a video of Scott talking about rigging a swimbait http://www.bassedge.com/media/show/Scott+Suggs+-+Swimbait Here is the FLW report about Scotts TX on the Rock..... Suggs’ sneaky swimbait pattern … While most of the field was fishing jerkbaits, crankbaits and jigs in relatively shallow water, Scott Suggs discovered a sneaky way to catch a quick limit each morning. Targeting suspended spotted bass in the 30-foot range (water was 100 feet deep), Suggs would throw a 4-inch Berkley Hollow Belly swimbait rigged on a jighead. Each day he had his limit by 9 a.m., and then he would put the swimbait down and search for prespawn kickers in shallow water. “I owe my whole week to Berkley,” he said. “I was doing something a little different than everyone else. I had a deal going where I could catch a bunch of spots swimming that new bait. I probably had 30 bites this morning, but they were just slapping at the bait. I knew it would be good, especially if conditions got tough.”
  14. Jerkbait fishing is my favorite way to catch bass.Over the years I have probably tired every jerkbait on the market one time or the other. Here is a short take on what I have found out that works for me.I have divided the use of jerkbaits into 2 types of jerkbaits for two seasons. LATE FALL AND WINTER When the water gets cold and the bass have moved deep and slowed down a slow retrieve is what works best.I have found that the Super Suspending Rouges and the Megabass 110 work the best for this.I use a long sweeping jerk and then a long pause twitch twitch retrieve.Bluff banks and deep brush piles or large boulders are my favorite targets.I like to add my own tied feathered hooks to baits when using long pauses so that while the bait is setting there the feathers are moving.I dont think that feathered hooks are important on fast retrieves EARLY SPRING As the water warms the bass start to move shallow to the flats and points they are more willing to chase a bait and that is when Lucky Craft Pointers and Xraps come into play.I think that the Xrap and Pointers are better fished on a fast jerk jerk pause jerk jerk jerk pause retrieve than on a slow retrieve.I change out the hooks on the XRaps with Mustad triple grip 1 size larger no feather. The feathers on the XRaps only last for a few fish anyway... EQUIPMENT I like a 6 1/2' med action baitcasting rod 8 or 10lb fluorocarbon line for winter and 10 to 12lb mono line when the fish are shallow.
  15. Make sure that you are not over filling your baitcaster with line. That is one of the biggest problems that I see with people that are having problems with backlashes.Keep that line 1/8 of a inch below the top of the spool do not over fill
  16. That is an amazeing deal. Lots of potential for the right buyer. Would you be leaving the are up there? I have a house on lake norfork and was thinking about some income property in the future. Can't get loans with the economy the way it is right now. Even people with excellent credit have a hard time qualifying for loans. ]

  19. Hooked on Fishin' on Lake Norfork -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This past spring I invited my friend Mark Goines host of the TV show Hooked on Fishin to come up here to Lake Norfork while the bass were on the beds for some site fishing. He is a very good sight fisherman and I was hoping to learn a little because I never did much sight fishing myself.I was quite surprised when he said that he was going to film for his TV show.I asked where his camera man was and he said you are it.So here it is guys my first job as a camera man and you are the first to see it.Sight Fishing on Lake Norfork http://www.markgoines.com/shows/northfork.html
  20. For some reason the night fishing has not been that good this year. There is a great early morning top water bite for bass but it is over by 7:30am most days.If you need bait you can use your nets around the docks at the Henderson boat dock. There has been huge pods of bait fish there.
  21. The bad news is that Hummingbird support isnt any better.
  22. Since my back injury in 2001 there have been days when I have had to call it a day after 3 or 4 hours on the lake due to back pain.I would adjust my butt seat up and down trying to find a more conferable position through out the day,but I just didnt have the back support that I needed to ease the pain. A friend that was at the Classic Expo told me about a butt seat that he seen there that was designed by Ez Troll to ease back pain and I thought anything that could keep me on the water longer without back pain was worth a try so I ordered one. When the seat arrived I was impressed with the quality of the seat and after 9 days of fishing I can say that it works to relieve my sore back and keep me on the water for a full day of fishing. If you have had a back injury or just suffer from a sore back I highly recommend this seat. The seat is manufactured by eztrolltray and there website is: http://www.eztrolltray.com/eztrollseat.html
