Take my boat Thursday to HydroTech tohave a Phase 1 kit put in. They are going to take it to the lake and set it up like it needs to be. They have been in business a long time, I asume they know what they are doing? Anyone ever use them to work on their outboard?
  2. Join the club. We threw it all day Saturday around Aunts Creek. The first fish was about 4 lbs, and 2 others about 21/2. But not the numbers or the size it seems like everyone else is catching. I am going back to what I know works this time of year, jerks and cranks. This thing is just stupid, a killer to cast all day and not much to show for it. And Saturday was the third time for me, not impressed.
  3. Cab't beat the Bass Pro Microlite 6' med action. $39.00 I have used them for years.
  4. One final story on the Alabama Rig. Last years winner of the Winter Bass Games the Float N Fly was seen at the junction of Hwy. 13 and DD holding a sign, Will Fish For Food, sorces say the Alabama Rig has left the Float N Fly unemployeed and broke. A fund has been set up at the Mule Express to help the Float N Fly get back on his feet. Please be generous with you donations that at this time are not tax deductable. Experts expect more lure to hit hard times as the Alabama Rig gains popularity. Please Remember don't not release you unwanted lures into the wild, they can not survive on their own. Contact me and I will provide shelter for all unwanted lures.
  5. I found a few more, The Spokane Times is reporting this morning that the Alabama Rig is a gift from Aliens to further improve the Human race (Or the ones that Bass Fish anyway). Bass Fishermen across the US have ban togather to form a new political party, the BASS Party will use the ALABAMA RIG as a write in candidate for President. Political Analyst's agree the Alabama will win the election by a land slide. Superman now has 2 forms to rob him of his powers, Kriptonite, and the Alabama Rig. The Federal Government is replacing the gold reserves in Fort Knox with Alabama Rigs. Please contact www.goldforfree to recieve your free bar of worthless gold. A Man in Califorina has asked the Alabama Rig for it's wires in Marriage, no word yet if the Alabama Rig accepted. A woman in Springfield MO. has filed divorce papers after she caught her husband having an affair with an Alabama Rig. A woman in Reeds Spring MO has filed for full custody for an Alabama Rig, claiming her Ex has repeatedly tried to drown the Rig. New reports seem to be coming out every minute about the Alabama Rig. Please post any News you may find concerning the Alabama Rig.
  6. Guy's, I have been doing some reshearch on the Alabama Rig, I think after you all see the results there would be no way it can or should be ban. Washington DC reports that due to the recent sales of the Alabama Rig the National debt of 3.7 Trillion dollas has been erased. Steel plants in Pittsburg PA are open again trying to keek up with demand for steel wire to produce Alabama Rigs. The unemployment rate in Pittsburg has since droped to 0. A man in Boaz after bring in a wheel chair for 10 years has reportably gained use of his legs after just one use of the Alabama Rig. The initial IPO offering on Wall Street of the Alabama Rig is reported to be the largest in US History surpassing WalMart and Microsoft in earnings. North Korea is reported to be buying Alabama Rigs to trigger a world riot due to the shortage of the Rig. Europe has abandoned the Euro as the Europen currency and adopted the A Rig as the offical currency in those Countries. So a ban on the Alabama Rig not only would hurt the US economy and throw the US back into ression, but it could cause a world war like none we have ever seen.
  7. Oh I'm a washed up old has been, I think my partner and I cashed 3 checks last year fishing the Cape Fair deals, all 2nd place. No I'm not afraid of loosing money to a no name weekend guy's, I'm one of them. And If it's aloud I'm sure I will have one tied on too. I need all the help I can get these days. Funny, seems like it used to be easier to catch fish. It's just a bait, or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5, I have boxes of stuff that don't work all the time too. Have fun with it and come on down and take my money. I'll shake you hand and tell you good job. Maybe this thing will make a hero of me too, again.
  8. Cullinby9, I am the same way. I quit fishing 16 years ago, quit like some people do when they stop smoaking or drinking, just got tired of it one day and quit. I sold all of my lures to a kid that was just getting started and I was glad they went to someone that would make use of the. I say all of my lures except my jerkbaits. I love throwing a jerkbait. In the 16 years that I didn't have a boat I would talk one of my friends that did have one into taking me once or twicee a year and throw a jerkbait. Last May I bought another boat, nothing fancy, but a good solid old 335 Ranger and the one thing I looked forward to was being able to go throw a jerkbait. And honestly, unless I was fishing a tournament of some sort, I still will throw it way more than the A Rig. Maybe all those guys throwing the A Rig out there in open water will scare a few up on the bak for us to catch on a jerkbait!
  9. I remember someone saying a few years back "Makes hero's out of Zero's" at that time they were refering to the Carolina Rig. Back when Central Pro Am was in its hey day, the amateur would set in the back of the boat, drag a rig and often times out fish the Pro. No skill required, just needed to know when you had a bite. I guess with the A Rig knowing when you have a bite isn't a problem? Hero's out of Zero's, sounds exactly like what the A Rig will do. BUT, I think we all know this isn't the magic bullet in bass fishing. There will be days and I think several of them, where the guy doing what he does best, what he has the most confidence in and using the skills and knowlege he has aquired over the years will prevail. After a few tournaments of guys trying to fish an A Rig exclusively, they will figure out that one bait, one technique won't get it done. I really don't think we have enough history with this thing to jump to the conclusion that it is the ultimate bass catcher. Persistence will prevail.
  10. Well I fished it yesterday for the first time. I did catch 2 bass on it, 2 bass and threw it for 3 hours or so. My buddy in the back of the boat was throwing a jerk bait and had 8 before I put the thing down and went to a jerk bait myself. We enede up with 16 keepers, the biggest 5.6, caught on a jerk bait, and must have caught 30+ fish. There may be better places to throw this thing, but as far as where we were catching our fish yesterday it didn't work worh a fiddle.
  11. So it's a matter of ethics, the guy that trolls or uses live bait to catch his fish is less ethical that the guy who uses 1 artifical bait to catch his. Kind of what it sounds like to me. We TOURNAMENT fisherman hold ourselves to a higher standard than the average fisherman! And don't try to say it isn't so, how many of you all have been fishing and a boat comes by trolling 2 or 3 rods and you haven't said those balnk ity blank guys. Or the guy's using night crawlers, or the guys setting on the bank throwing out craw dads. We as tournament fishermen are so much better than that we have to ban anything that doesn't fit or standards. I don't fish Elite Bass, I don't fish FLW or anything of that nature. I do like fishing the spring and fall deals out of Cape Fair, just a bunch of guys that get togather and fish basicly for fun, you sometimes don't win enough to get gas and entry fee back, but it's fun and doesn't cost much. I really feel like the A Rig is not the end of bass fishing as we know it. It's a tool to use when it works, and just something else to haul around in the boat when it doesn't. I don't consider myself any less ethical if I use it to catch fish in a tournament, or if I do fish one that doesn't alow the use of it I'm not going to say, well they don't allow the use of the A Rig so I'm not fishing that! So I really don't have a strong opinion either way, I'm sure I will have one ready if I can use it and if I can't then I good with that as well.
  12. Seems like most of the discussion is over whether the A Rig is a lure or a Rig. It's not a lure in the singular word, it's one head with 5 arms in which 5 LURES are attached. If we can get passed that fact, maybe we can get down to the real issue with why or why not it should be allowed in tournaments. And really whether the state allows it's use is not revelant, the state of Missouri allows trolling, they allow the use of live bait, but most if not all tournaments do not allow either. Why? Why is trolling not allowed in tournaments? Honestly I'm not sure, othere than it takes no skill to drag a bait behind a boat till a fish bites it? Why is live bait not allowed? I assume for the same reason, it takes no skill to throw a live craw dad out and wait till a fish bites it. The state allows for more than one rod to be in use at one time. Most tournaments don't. Other than those 3 forms of fishing pretty much everything else is fine in a tournament. So the real question to me is does it take skill to use the A Rig? That to me is the reason all the other forms of fishing allowed by law are not allowed in tournaments. So some of you that have fished the A Rig, can you chine in on whether it takes skill or not to fish this thing. After tomorrow I can weigh in my my thoughts. I plan on fishing it for the first time tomorrow. But in all honesty I'm not sure where to start throwing it? I know Bill has given us his use of it, but can I use it the same type of banks I throw a jerk bait on? Does it work best off bluff ends and deeper points? I don't know? Do you fish it like Bill said down 20' over 40' of water? These are things I as well as everyone else that uses the thing will have to figure out. So in my mind it does take some skill to figure out where and how to use it. I don't think you can just pull up on any bank, throw it out, reel it in a catch 1-2 or 3 fish at a time on it. So does it take SKILL to use this thing? That would seem to be the real issue.
  13. So this thing is so good, I can sell ALL the other fishing tackle I own and just fish the A Rig and win every tournament I enter? Is that the basis for banning it? Some one has discovered the Holey Grail of Bass Fishing, man, it just got a lot cheaper and a whole lot simpler to bass fish, 1 rod, 5 baits and that is it. Thank you to Mr. Poss, I can now sell all my other tackle and all 15 or 20 of my other rods and fish the A Rig. Who wouldn't be in favor of that? Next year you will go to Bass Pro and they will have 80,000 square feet of nothing but A Rigs. Sure make it nice when your wife asks what are you going to buy at Bass Pro, I guess A Rigs, that all they have any more!
  14. Guy's, some of you can remember having to weight your own Rogue, in the beginning we were never able to go to your local tackle shop or Wal Mart for that matter and buy a bait that would suspend perfectly right out of the package. I quit bass fishing competivly about 16 years ago. I know what it is like to "Fish for a living". I was not independly wealthy or had a job I could run from the front of a boat. I remember pawing my guns toget enough money to enter a Pro-Am and hope I won enought to get home and get my guns back from the pawn shop. Fortunitly I always did. Back in May I bought a used Range Bass boat, a 1984 335V, a well taken care of old boat and hit Table Rock again. It is like learning to fish all over again. Fishing lures, diffrent techniques, even the bass themselves seemed to have changed from what I remember. But back then you didn't have the number of fishermen that could really catch fish on a consistant basis. There were always a few that you knew would have fish and then the others that got lucky once and a while. Everything has advanced. Everyone has advanced. If the A-Rig is a legal way to fish, fish it, or don't, it's your choice. I don't like the idea of it in tournaments, but if it is allowed, I will have one tied on. I have to this point not used one, but I can think of several situations were it WOULD be a killer way to catch mutipal fish on one cast. I remember when the Front Runner came out, many times I can remember catching 2 fish on the same cast. But like alot of things, it kind of went by the way side. I still use one once and a while but not like when they first came out. I remember the contraversey with the C-Rig, whether you were dragging "trolling" it or moving it with the reel taking up line. The A-Rig will pass like most of the others have. If its legal I will use it if it helps, if it's not I'm fine with that too.
  15. I think it depends on the fish. I keep a reel with 12# mono, 12# fluro, 10# mono and 10# fluro. The fluro will make your bait run a little deeper than the mono. If your bait has a tendency to rise slowly the fluro will hold it down. But sometimes you want it to rise or sink slowly? I seldom use 8# line. The type of water I fish with a jerkbait I don't need the extra thin line, I want a little more strength. But try some of both, and let the fish tell you what works best that day. If I do find the mono is working best, I almost always use green in that. i have seen the slightest diffrence in the bait, sinking slowly or rising slowly or setting perfectly still make all the diffrence in getting a bite or not. Then there are days it doesn't matter. Try some of both mono and fluor. Works for me.
  16. I have been on line looking at some of the other posts people have about the spray from the Humminbird transducers. Looks like it is a common problem and not easily corrected unless you can mount it in the hull. Has anyone else expirenced this issue with this problem. I thought I had the transducer mounted wrong, but it sounds like ther is no way to eliminate this with out some type of spray guard. The other thing I'm not sure about is it affecting the lift of my boat. I have a 84 Ranger 335V with a 150 Mercury on it, th eboat runs and lifts well, but it did seem to affect that when I was running yesterday. But with all the spray coming from the transducer it was hard to tell much about it. Let me know if there is a cure other than in the hull mounting. Thanks.
  17. I got to try it out for a couple of hours yesterday. Went to Cape Fair and put in, WOW, what a cool locator. Reminds me of the old paper graph we used to use. The detail is great. I only have one problem. The way I mouinted the transducer, it throws a spray of water about 6' high when I'm running. Going to have to figure out a better place to mount it. The transducers for those are longer than normal. But once I get that corrected it will be great.
  18. Got the Humminbird in yesterday. Got it mounted on the dash last night. Need to mount the transducer tonight. Can't wait to try it out. If it lives up to it billing it should be a fantastic unit.
  19. Well I just ordered a Humminbird 596HDDI. It had really good reviews, yes, kind of expensive, but Table Rock has changed so much over the past few years. You really need to find and see what the fish are holding on. It's been 15 years since I have had a boat, bought a really nice 83 Ranger 335 with an 84 Merc 150 on it. It had a garman 160 on the front and a Lawrance X75 on the consloe, but I wanted something so I could see what was on the bottom. I know the X75 is a good locator, but it still takes some inturpation, amd I think I will leave it on also, or move it to the front. But I really think the 596 will be a good unit. Can't wait to get it on and try it out.
  20. I think I have seen some pictures from a down miaging locator. I am thinking about putting one on my boat. What do you all think is the best? The Humminbird looks pretty good. Good custome reviews. Best to put it on the trolling motoe or off the back? Let me know, I sure think one would be handy.
  21. I will get you some tomorrow. I have several of the outside. I will take some of the inside in the morning and send them to you. Thank.
  22. I have a 2010 Keystone Hideout travel trailer for sale. It's a 20' trailer, it has everything, bath room with shower, refrigerator and freezer. Full size bed with bunk over it. Couch makes into bed. Microwave. Radio/CD player with speaker inside and out. 2 30# propane bottles. Water heater. The trailer is still like new, still smells new. Wife wants a bigger trailer. This would make a great hunting rig. It weighs 4700#I pull it with a 1/2 ton Frod with a 4.6 V8. If intrested I can send pictures. Asking $10,500.
  23. From Spokane to Rim is right at 100 miles. About 2 hours. But it's a good drive. 62 from south of Harrison to Gassville is good road. You go right past the Mountain River Fly Shop on the way. I love fishing the White. So much diffrent than Taney. Also, Arkansas free fishing weekend is June 12,13 and 14. I have a camp site reserved below Bull Shoals Dam that weekend. They may be running water, who knows, but if they do on the White, Northfork will be shut off most of the day Saturday for the kids fishing tournament. It's not far to drive over there and fish either. Good luck, hope you geet to expirence fishing on the White River, it will make an impression on you.

It's an automatic. It has 199,000 miles on it. And it does have a clean title. Like I said, it was one of our work trucks so it has a lot of miles on it. But The truck runs and drives good. It has the V6 engine so it's not bad on gas, the seats are dirty from use, but I just fish and hunt out of it so that doesn't matter to me. It's white with a black camper shell. I can see if I can post some pictures. The truck is in Spokane Mo. so if anyone wants to look or drive it it's not far from Taney.
