Guy's I am selling a 1998 Ford F 150. It's is an old company truck I bought 2 years ago, it's not pretty but for a hunting and fishing rig it's perfect. No carpet, no power anything, V6 engine, it's a long bed regular cab. It does have a Sportsman Camper Shell on it. White in color and has new tires. I want $1,200 for it. Some of you may have seen it on Taney, I fish it all the time. It's a good running truck. Make someone a great fishing rig.

Got to fish my new Echo Classic on Saturday. Wow what a nice rod, This thing fishes very nice. Glad I was able to get the bid on it. This finishes out my fly rod slection. I now have a rod in 3-4-5-6 weights. And I like them all. I can fish almost any weather or water conditions any where whit the rods I have. If anyone is looking for a great fry rod, there are still some on ebay.

Southwestern Power isn't the only people that sell power from TR. NW Electric from Cameron Mo. also have lines that run from the Missouri River East of KC all the way south to Bull Shoals Dam. They acctualy go all the way into Iowa, but when I worked for them we maintained it from the rive south. KAMO, SHOW ME, Central Electric, M&A, NW, and one other make up Associated Electric in Springfield. They also dictate when generation is needed.

Well like I figured, I'm in a motel room in Heber Springs and the rod was delivered to the house today. the wife said it was on the front pourch when she got home from work. Anxious to try it out. If the weather doesn't get too bad and the generation schedule allows, may go to the White River Saturday and give it a work out. $69 for a rod with a life time warrenty is a great deal. I saw some more of them on ebay if anyone else would like to check one out.

After going thru my fly bag I found a Fly Logic 3-4-5 reel that will be perfect fot it. I forgot I had it, I don't use it much. I had it for a spare out fit on a 5 wt. rod. The rod hasn't made it's way to me yet, figure it will be here tomorrow, I have to go out of town tomorrow. But it will be here when I get back.

It is a new rod. Thanks fo rthe reply, it looks like I got it. I need to find a reel for it now. Thanks for the reply, I feel better about it now.

Does any one know anything about an ECHO Classic fly rod. I have read the info on their web page, but do any of you guy's own one? Looks like I may win the bid on a 9' 4 wt. on ebay. I have been lookin for a 4 wt. rod and this one looks like a good one for the money? $69 is hard to beat for a 4 wt 4 piece with a sock and tube.

Some great pic's. I notice some of them are from a Moultrie camera. I got one of the 6 megipixel cameras this last year. It doesn't have the IR but it takes great pictures. I like the stamp on the picture giving time, date, moon phase and barometeic pressure. I have taken over 300 pictures with mine in 08.

I talked to Cabelas, they sent me the Aqua Seal. And it works fine. The only place I have ever had a leak ia in a seam. I will get by with these till I can get a pair of Sims. By spring I hope to have lost enough weigt to fit in a regular pair of waders. I tell you, that is the hardest thing to find when your big around the middle. If you buy a 2X the legs are too long and the foot is too big. Even the "Stout" sizes don't fit just right. I appreciate all the replies on this. I worked with an old man once, his favorite saying was, it only costs 10% more to go first class. I know Sims is first class. I just need to save up the 10%.

I may try to find a pair of Sims. If your putting that much ware on them and it still takes 2-3 years for a leak to show up, a guy wearing them 20-25 times a year would go no telling how long with them. I'm going to have to get a new pair at some point any way. Been on a diet and have lost 30 lbs so far. Trying to get to 50. My Cabelas waders will be too big if I can do that. Thanks for the info. I guess I'm on about my 4th year to fly fish, still a lot to learn about all of it.

I was wondering if even the Sims waders leak after time. I guess this is the third year for my Cabels waders. How long does Sims warranty their wades? From what I have seen, most of the leaks I have are in the seams. Are the Sims worth the extra cost? I know they are top of the line.

I have a question about waders and repair. I have a pair of Cabelas breathable waders that have a leak around the knee. I have some Aqua Seal to put on the seams that should stop the leak. My question is, is this a common thing with breathable waders. I know the Cabelas waders are not the top of the line. But even with top of the line waders, does any one else find they have leaks after a couple of years. I would guess I use mine 20-25 days a year. I try to take care of them, hang them to dry after use and keep them in the bag and clean.

Another thing to keep in mind,go to a bow shop and buy the bow. There are some great deals on ebay right now on some new bows. But what do you do with it when you get it? A good bow shop will help you set up your new bow like you want it. And believe me, there is alot to setting up a bow so it will shoot properly. From paper tuning the arrows to getting the sights and peep set, to adjusting the rest. I know more about it than I did when I got my first bow. But not enought to set it up with out help from someone who does it every day. You will be much happier and shoot with more confidence when your bow is set up and shooting correctly.

I shoot a Mcpherson made by Pearson. My first bow was a Reflex. I wanted to get into bow hunting but didn't want to spend a ton of money on a bow. I wasn't sure how much hunting I would be able to do, so I went to Bass Pro and bought a package deal on the Reflex. I used the bow for 4 years, when one morning I climbed into my deer stand before daylight and tried to nock an arrow. The string had broken and need to be replaced. I went to the local bow shop in Branson to get the srting replaced. While Jim was looking for the replacement srting I was looking at some of his new bows he had hanging up. I found the Mcpherson which was very reasonably priced. When I ask why it was so cheep, Jim replied it was a demo bow the Person rep used to show bow show owners. I didn't have the string put on my Reflex, instead we took the rest, sights and stabilizer off and put on the Mcpherson. This is the 3rd year for it. I like it because it's short and lite. Very easy to manover in a tree stand and won't ware you out carring it. In the 3 years I have been shooting it I have killed 3 deer and 3 hogs. I was amazed at how much faster and quieter the Mcpherson was over the Reflex. And my Reflex was heavy. I ended up giving my Reflex to my nephew last year. He had a string put on, a nwe set of sight and a whisker biscut and took his first deer with it this year. Bows have come along way in the past few years. Seems like they are all concentrating on speed any more. But go look and feel abunch of bows. You will find one that feels good to you and that is what matters. If you like it you will shoot it better than something you by because it's trendy or more expensive. I think any more most all brands shoot well. Get something you like.

I would like to hunt somewhere there are too many deer. I don't own property, but I hunt on my dads place in Lawrence County. He has 175 acres that he has some cows on. But we put out food plots and do all we can to keep deer around his property. This has been the best year we have ever had bow hunting there. We have taken 4 deer. 3 doe and 1 buck. But we hunt hard to do it. There are days that go by we set in a stand and don't see a single deer. I'm sure some of you remember back in the late 60's and early 70's when there wen't many deer in SW Missouri. Then it was buck only, you couldn't shoot a doe in the section we hunted. Then a few years later you had to put in for a doe tag and get drawn for one. Not to many years after that you could buy all the doe tags you wanted. The deer have made a come back, but they are not thick every where. I think we (in Missouri) have plenty of deer in most places to hunt. The Conservation Department has done a wonderful job of bringing the deer and turkey back to populations that evryone can take advantage of. I guees this is off of the subject a bit. But I just can't see how $20 is going to keep anyone from hunting or cause a boom in hte deer population because land owners won't pay for a tag. I support the Conservation Department all the way.
-
I guess there are 2 ways to look at this issue. Yes the Conservation Department does have the sales tax money and money from the purchase of hunting, fishing, trout and other tags. And I know the price of those tags are going to go up. But in order to provide the services, the land and the oppertunitie to use these resorses it takes money. We all enjoy resorses provided by the Conservation Department, whether we hunt, fish, canoe of just enjony the out doors. Now for the land owner tags. I do think 80 acres is too far to go. But I have always thought 5 acres was too little to get a land owner tag. Where does anyone have 5 acres that they stricty deer or turkey hunt on. Next to the National Forrest? Maybe. And no one evre happens to wonders off their 5 acres by mistake and take a deer or turkey? I think 40 acres would have been a better choice. I my self own 3 1/2 acres, not enough for a land owner tag, but I always hunt other places anyway. I in a way am glad the Conservation Department is looking down the road to tougher times. Not waiting till it's too late to take action, to continue to provide the hunting and fishing oppertunities we all enjoy. Come on $20 for a deer tag isn't going to break anyone 5 acres or not.

This is nothing new. This stuff has been going on since Tournaments started. Guy's that want to win so bad they will do anything to bring in the big bag. Some people have never had any ethics when it comes to fishing. You all should have fishe the James River area 15 years ago. I have seen a couple of cussing matches and a get your behind out of the boat and on the bank confrontations when I was fishing alot of tornaments. It's not the boat you drive that causes it. It's the person you are in every day life that causes it.

I'm not a good indicator fisherman at all. I guess the eggs, scuds and sow bugs are fished under indicators. How do you all rig your idicators? I want to tie up some scuds, what is the best color and do you weight them when you tie them. Or use split shot to weight them?
-
It's time for the big browns to move up. What is the beat fly to use to have a chance to catch one in the day time?
-
Thanks for the info. I guess we will stay at Taneycomo tomorrow. They say no water till 10:00, but you never know? Maybe one of these days we can fiah any where we want. Thanks again.
-
Looks like they are going to run part of a unit tomorrow. Can you wade Norfork with 30 megawatt of generation?
-
We looked at the Nortfork, but not many places have RV sites. Those that do are twice a expensive as a Corp camp ground. My buddy Mike thinks we should go to Colorado and fish some out there. But it's a hard day out there and a hard day back. If we left Tuesday we would have Wed-Thurs-Friday and come back Saturday. So 2 days of driving for 3 days of fishing. It might be worth it? Never fished Colorado, he has and said it really good. I would guess he is talking about the Platt River out there? It's been a tough year to fly fish in this part of the country. Come October and November the deer wood will be calling awfully loud, I won't fish much then. But after that I will fish every weekend if the water allows. I guess we will wait another week to see what it looks like. I know everyone will be glad to see this year pass. But we won't soon forget it I'm sure.
-
It's just a guess and I know no one can tell, but some of you guy's that have fished Taney might have a gut feeling, my buddy and I have vacation planned for Labor Day week. We want to fly fish somewhere, would like to get a camp site at St. Park and fish Taney being it's only 25 minutes from the house. Do any of you guy's think they may stop generating in a couple of weeks? Table Rock should be close to pool by then. The weather has been well below normal temps, so they may not need the power? The only other option is the Little Red. They haven't generated at all there the last 2 weeks. It's a 3 hour drive, but there is a nice campground at JFk park. Any ideas?
-
I will try it again. I will be in Heber off and on for a while. I have hear too much about the Little Red to let one trip show it's true colors. In fact, depending on what happens at Taney Labor Day week, my buddy and I may come down and spend several days that week. Our first choice is that generation at Table Rock is back to normal and we can spend the week fishing hear. But if not, it looks like the Little Red may be our best bet. Thnaks for the reply and I will be keeping an eye on what is going on down down there.
