Caught them ok today in the Twin bridges area. Could not buy a bite from 1-4 or so, but we saw them by the hundreds in shallow water. They picked up around 4, but it was never a red hot bite. We worked very hard for the 30 or so we caught. 2 walleye with one barely being a keeper. My buddy lost a good fish that was likely a hybrid. I thought I had a big hybrid too until I saw a flash of gold after finally getting my line back. Carp. Will be interesting to see what the weather does to it. I've had some good days this year, but no great 100 fish days.

Can you do it in a jet john? I don't mind shallow gravel shoals, but don't like long stretches of it or bedrock.
-
I've fallen out of my coosa once and flipped it twice. It happens.

Anyone catch them this weekend? I got out on Friday and it was bad slow. Caught five fish total between four of us I think, and they were all up in Richland. Saw a guy hammering them up there on minnows, but they didn't want what I had. A buddy went Sunday and struggled as well, but he wasn't out long. I feel like the front may have screwed everything up for a bit and will probably try it again on Wednesday. Curious to know if anyone else is catching them.

Got another batch of warts back from TrophyFishR. These are all phantoms in different colors - brown and orange, and some watermellon type colors. After the family came over for an easter egg hunt, I drug my kayak down to the creek and fished for a couple of hours behind the house. I sent him a text around 7 that said "your paintjob messed up my baits. Every time I get them down to depth, I get hung on one of these things!" Great looking lures. It was a slow evening until I tied on a phantom wart. Three kentuckies, four smallmouth, and a sucker hooked right between the shoulder blades.

I've always heard that they're good to eat when properly cared for. Good on you for giving it a shot.

34 here. Know lots of young folks that fish.

The cold snap really put the kebash on the white bass. I only caught 4 this afternoon. Saw a guy in richland creek who probably had 50 fishing live minnows. I could hardly get bit 20 yards from him.

I was fishing the second shoal down. End of the road so to speak if you're hiking from the ramp. But we walked from Polo subdivision. Lots of folks were fishing around us but we were on the downstream end of that gravel bar.

Yeah. Clousers were the most effective as always. But when my rod broke I caught them on an in line spinner.
-
No, farther down. Had motor issues so we hoofed it. Wanted to fish that spot for walleyes but it wasn't in the cards.
-
We hammered them. Was trying to keep count but I broke my fly rod and kinda lost focus for a bit. Switched to a spinning rod and kept catching them. Everyone in my group caught all they wanted and the folks wading near us seemed to as well.

I bought a pile of jigheads from him as I've had a hard time finding a decent hula grub head for fishing an exposed point with a weed guard. Used to get them from custom lure in Fayetteville, but the ones he's carrying changed, and now the weedguard is way too stiff (and the hook is cheap). I like the PJ's heads and hooks, but their weedguard is just terrible. It's like a partially cooked noodle...completely worthless (I still like other PJ's stuff, just not their 1/4oz hula grub heads). Dave hooked me up with some great ones and they're fantastic. I also bought a pile of crappie jig heads from him. That sickle (sp?) hook seems to make a difference, and a great weedguard on them as well. Very very fond of the 1/16 oz crappie jigheads. I also bought a few ned heads. I don't fish the ned much and as I've said before, I feel like I catch more and better stream fish on some other options for the bottom bouncing presentation. But I will say that the ned was a real difference maker on a couple of tough bluebird lake days not too long ago. Turned what would have been a few fish on the shakey head into 25 or so, and I fished them both through the same spots. A few weeks later the ned wasn't the hot ticket. So in conclusion: 1. Dave's jigheads are awesome, and they're the best I've fished for a couple of specific presentations - extremely happy with my order and I'll order a bunch more when I run out; and 2. No one has ever claimed the ned rig to be the end-all be-all bait as far as I know, but it's a dang effective tool in the right situation.

Why would you want to kill a shark? Revenge.

The muddy water fish are still plenty catchable, you just have to put out more vibration, flash, or both. A week ago today I got five walleye and a dozen whites in identical conditions to yesterday. Hope to up the white total tomorrow if I can ignore the post spawn walleye long enough.

I've got crappie envy too. I don't know where any magic ledges are. I fished the arkansas river this weekend which is normally automatic limits. It was a struggle. Caught 2 giants on the bank but not much else to show for risking my life in 3 foot rollers from the wind blowing up river on sunday morning. I'd have turned around if it was safe to do so. Water was just too muddy and Temps only hit 60 mid day, so my bank spawned slaughter is another couple of weeks away down there.

Dunno but I'm fishing the white tomorrow. I expect it to be very crowded.

That was supposed to say agfc. Phone corrected on me.

To be clear, F & puts together a phenomenal report and it's the gold standard. I was poking fun at the typical report that comes from Darrell's Minners n' More for white oak lake that shows up in the AGFA reports.

I'm sure you put a lot of time and effort into this but you lost me the moment you assumed that I'm a "power boater" or whatever category you lumped me in. Of the six power and non-power boats I own at the moment, my only big one is a river John with a jet, and I don't like being on rough water with it so I avoid all but the river arms. Making an assumption about the type of boat I own because I don't feel that it's safe to be on a rough main lake in a canoe is about as intelligent as assuming I leap to the defense of other members because of their post count. Paddle the lake all you want. You certainly have that right. It's not a risk I feel the need to take when I have ample fishing opportunities elsewhere. welcome to the forums. Looking forward to you and beaverbeater's contributions.

You're out of line. Everyone on this board is more than willing to share the water with canoes and kayaks. I like to think that I am extremely conscientious of small non power boaters. I come completely off plane and down to an absolute minimum idle when I'm able. But there is a time and a place for everything. Personally, I wouldn't paddle the main lake at beaver at any time. Paddling is best done in protected coves or during off peak hours, but the low light conditions make that dangerous as well. The analogy to the freeway was a good one. And you mischaracterized it as truck vs coupe to make your point. It's truck vs pedestrian. There's a reason why bicycles aren't allowed on interstates. Paddling a rough lake is a very bad idea for the unprepared. Add in the fact that you're almost certain to get waked when working tight to a blind shoreline, and it's not hard to see that.

LOL, you didn't mean the local goober report. "Hatchet Jack's says crappie are fair to good and are biting minnows in 2-22' of water. All other species are fair."
-
Ah, my fault. That is cool. I don't think I've seen anything like that distributed on a regular basis by AGFC, but maybe.
-
Pretty sure he's not talking about stream fish. Might be wrong though.

Why is it that every time there's a discussion about the "Ned rig" folks have to jump all over it? I'm not a hater or a fanboy..yet. I owe a lot of fish at the hot lake to the ned when I couldn't get them to bite on much else on a few bluebird days. I don't think it will ever replace my standards in the creek, but I'll give them a fair shot this year. But still, it seems like every time folks have to talk about how it's not really new. I think Babler even uses a different name for it as if to show he's known about this longer than the rest of the Johnny-come-latelys. When the A-rig got big, folks were saying "umbrella rigs have been around for a long time." The whole thing is like if I were to tell someone I really liked X band, and they said "well I liked them before they were cool." You know that guy?
