  1. Whoever's playing the Chargers!! :P It was a good game. Indy hasn't been very impressive all year. How did Manning get MVP anyway? That wasn't an MVP performance. The Chargers did a great job marching it right down the field and scoring in OT. Had a couple of calls go their way that helped. I'm a big KC fan which is why I'm not so thrilled about the win tonight but at least your team is in the playoffs. I do like the Steelers a lot, I always have. Good luck to you on the Chargers, maybe they can take it all the way.
  2. I should be down on Friday too. If you see a big guy watching a little girl battling a big fish, that would be me!!
  3. Cool, more Moores.
  4. There were a lot of people there today. I had a busy morning but decided to head down early afternoon. I was really surprised at the amount of people. I didn't do too well today. I had planned on sight fishing but there were just too many people and a lot of spooked fish up top. Oh well, I will be down again on Friday with my daughter. Hopefully I can get her hooked up with a nice fish. Wish I would have known some of you guys were there.
  5. Are you coming down on New Years day.
  6. I just wondered on the VR. Mine is non-VR version as well. I just wanted to see how much difference there actually was. Most of my pictures will be volleyball. It's became real obvious that I'm going to need a really fast lens. It looks like I could probably afford a 50mm 1.8 but that doesn't give me any zoom. I'm not sure of how close I can really get. I was able to get on the sidelines for the last football game and I really struggled to get any decent shots. Of course that was about three days after I first held the camera. I'm pretty sure that I will be allowed on the floor of my daughters high school during games but I doubt I will be able to do it in other gyms. I have a while to wait on that anyway but I do have four months of club volleyball to practice. I'm not critizing anyone's pictures. It's been a struggle for me but I feel I'm getting the hang of it. Just like everything thing else it takes some time getting used to your tools. Heck I've been fly fishing now for 8 or 9 years and I still can't cast. How the heck do you do a haul or a double haul anyway. I don't have that much coordination. Hey who wants to teach me how to cast. I'll take some crappy photos of you fishing? Here's a cat that was real happy that I was taking his picture.
  7. Well if I can ever catch some fish I will post some pictures. I have caught some nice fish at Roaring River the past couple of times that I was there but it was raining both times and I was terrified to carry that camera in the rain. I'm getting over that fear though. Hopefully before the end of the weekend I can post something.
  8. Well hurry up so you can teach me. Santa also got me a D40 but since I've been extra good this year I received it on Halloween. Kind of weird that my Christmas present came on Halloween. Not sure if that's something I should be worried about. I love that 18-55 kit lens that comes with it. I also have a 55-200mm. Is the 55-200 the VR version?
  9. Phil, it was great. I really appreciate you recording and posting it. I spend so much time in my car, I'm always looking for something to listen to. I downloaded it and burned it to a cd. Added it to my collection of fishing and photography podcasts. It seems that I can never make it down to the meetings. I'm either out of town or one of the kids has an event at school. Hopefully (hint hint) you will continue to do this.
  10. I'll tie a Moto Minnow. It's been a good fly for me all year. Should be a good one for a shad kill too.
  11. For trout a streamer. For smallmouth it has to be a popper. There are better ways to catch them but it is the most fun. Nothing like a smallie exploding on a popper.
  12. If it smelled really bad it was Leonard.
  13. Nope, I'm a lurker :P Guess I'll have to join so I can give you a hard time there too!!
  14. Well said Tim.
  15. If they want to harm someone it doesn't matter to them what is legal or not. If you want something bad enough you can get it, legally or not.
  16. Joefish, You might try this forum. There are some great people on here devoted to Nikon. Nikonians It sounds like the battery though.
  17. I don't know what browser everyone else is using, but a couple of days ago I switched to Firefox just because of all of the security issues with Explorer. I haven't had the problems with logging in since.
  18. That's great Duane! So did the mallards hitting the water put the trout down?
  19. For those of you that would be interested in Chief's idea of legally reducing the number of spots in a river, which one would you choose? I think we should put something together for this spring and see what happens.
  20. And that's why I always bring a backup bottle of creamer. Everybody wants some. As far as what to wear under your waders I agree with vanven, it's more important to me to keep my head and hands warm. As far as what to wear underneath, I've always just worn my jeans. Probably not the most comfortable way to go, but I seldom get cold.
  21. Good job Poke 'Em. Now you've got Chief all fired up. Don't tell him what you drive.
  22. Too bad you have to go with your brother. Will this be like a date for you guys?
  23. Here is a link to the James River regulations as written by Phil on Ozark Anglers. James River Regs Matt you were right. There is a 15" min on Largemouth & Smallmouth only. Daily limit of 6 with only 1 being a smallmouth. So I guess I need to eat some small spots.
  24. There are some real problems with the spots. I noticed a lot more of them this year on the lower James (Kerr to Galena). The problem that you have is that in this stretch all bass must be 15" before you can keep them. You don't catch too many spots that are that big. A lot of 12-14" fish. This is one section where I would like to see a 18" or even keep the 15" for smallmouth and put everything else at 12". But you always will have the problem of the people that take everything they catch no matter what. I saw a man that was ticketed on the James this summer for having short fish. A couple of his fish were even less than 12".
