  1. It's the "and more" part that always causes me financial problems. Haven't been in the new store but Michael is a great guy.
  2. Congrats John. I have been wondering about you guys. I'm glad that everything worked out, I knew it would. Hey, do you think he can hold a fly rod yet???
  3. I've listened to a lot of them. Usually just download the podcast and then burn it to a CD so that I can listen to them on my travels. Great info. I won't miss the smallmouth one.
  4. Dam's are usually built to hold back water. Sorry Dano, I couldn't resist. I don't know what it's for, but I want to fish it!!!
  5. I know that place! I haven't spent much time there though. Looks like we need to get together and share some spots. Maybe!!! I may just tape the seems and apply a coating similar to a sprayed in bed liner. I'm thinking I would like the inside to be a solid color instead of just plain old wood like the outside. I know that I can glass the inside and paint it, but the coating will be far more durable than any coating, plus it will add a little sound deadening. 1/4 inch birch. Bought it at lowes. Not the best in the world but since this was my first build I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a sinking ship!!
  6. Well, along with my unbelievable fish catching abilities, I will be bringing something to eat. Just not sure what to bring yet. I was just going to pick up some doughnuts, but Duckydoty stole my idea. Of course he did say that he was doing this for the early birds, and to him early probably means 1:00 am.
  7. I went with the 4 oz. Still not sure that I will do the graphite thing. It seems like a great idea, just haven't really thought much about it. Yeah, I love the James. It may not be the best in the world but it's close to home and usually pretty quiet. I have no idea where Yoakam Bend is though. But I just don't know any of those places by name. I'll bet I know it when you tell me where it is!!!
  8. Ordered the fiberglass cloth today. That was the last thing I needed. Hopefully I will be able to start on it again this weekend. I'm starting to get excited about getting it completed again. Can't wait to get it on the water. Ozark, getting together for a float would be great. I'd really like to see how yours turns out. I have already talked to Matt at JEM about making me some plans for a kayak with a rod storage system. That way I can carry my spinning rod and a couple of flyrods and not have to worry about them being in the way or getting destroyed on one of my adventures.
  9. Well, as most of my projects turn out, it has been put on hold. Not long after starting it I accepted a job promotion that has taken a lot of extra free time from my life. I figure I have about another 6 months of running crazy, then I will either be able to spend more time at home or start looking for another job that will allow that. While I have not negelected my family, getting a chance to go fishing has been hard to fit in. So has the time I need to build the canoe. But now that Christmas is behind us I plan on getting started again. I have all the panels cut and most of the materials bought. I just have to get busy and get it done. The Southwind looks like a neat boat. Is this your first build?
  10. Well okay, but when everybody tells me how dorky I look in my new Simms waders and cheap old green Orvis boots, I'm going to tell them that Michael Kyle thinks I look sexy!
  11. Don't I get a pair of these free with the waders I ordered?
  12. Wow Mike, welcome aboard. I think you win the contest for the best essay in the Introduce yourself topic. Phil tell him what he's won, maybe a bumper sticker. Seriously, great introduction. I hope you are able to enjoy smallmouth fishing as much as I do. Listen to Al, he's right, St. louis is not that bad an area.
  13. A wiggle wart is not like any other crainkbaits. I don't care what anyone thinks, you will never change my mind. The older warts did seem to work a lot better. But the best is the flat wart. The only problem with them is sometimes you'll get one that needs a lot of constant tuning to make it run straight or any other direction you want it to go. But when you find one that works, wow. I love flat warts!!!
  14. You gotta quit saying that Tim. You are killing me. I really want to be there Friday, but it's going to be hard to pull it off.
  15. Mice work.....well sometimes. In my quest to only fish with a pine squirrel I started noticing that sometimes these fish get really aggressive towards anything moving across the top. This happened a lot when I had just started fishing with a unsoaked pine squirrel. Just skating it across the top. Some days they were interested, some days they weren't. I didn't pay much attention until I ran across a mouse pattern that was made with fur and foam. I made a few out of black pine squirrel and black foam. All I did to a normal pine squirrel was tie a foam back with a gurgler style head over the pine squirrel body. Then I clipped the hair on the belly of the fly and skinned the length of the tail except for a little puff (yeah I said puff) of fur at the end. Some days they are interested, some days they aren't. But when they are, it sure is fun to watch them attack it.

    Mu Vs. Ou

Well let's see. Last week I said I was for KU, but I was really just trying to stir somebody up!! I was very happy that MU won. However I'm not sure my mom will ever talk to me again because I also told her I was for KU. Hey I gotta have some fun in my life. Now we have MU & OU, and even though I have a new OU shirt hanging in the closet I'm still going to go with the home team!!! But wait a minute, I was born and spent most of my life in Oklahoma?? What do I do? Several years ago I wore a Chiefs hat and a Cowboys shirt to Thanksgiving at my mom & dad's house. Boy my dad loved that, he's a big Dallas fan. He liked that almost as much as when I wore a Steelers sweatshirt to his house to watch the Cowboys & Steelers in a Superbowl. I can't help myself. I must have something wrong with me!! Go Tigers!! (and I really mean it this time)
  17. You are right. I'm sure they would have a blast together and we might actually get to fish a little ourselves. Let me know anytime you are ready.
  18. Got to spend some time at Roaring River today with one of my favorite fishing partners. As she put it, they weren't great biters today but we did manage to catch enough to make it fun. I hooked this one then turned the rod over to Tiffani. It was a struggle but she managed to get it to the net. Thanks to whoever you were that took the time to take our picture.
  19. I'm with Phil, GO KU!!!!
  20. Yeah Michael, let us know if you need any help. I could haul a truck load of stuff off for ya. Probably won't make it to the new location though!!! Seriously, let me know if you need any help. Don't know what I could do, but I wouldn't mind at all.
  21. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! Go Jayhawks!!!!!
  22. Steve vs. the coons Opening a cooler? Steve wins this event. Coons are good at this, but no competition for Steve. Loves bread? I've seen Steve eat it as long as it's encompassing a hot dog or covered in gravy. Coons will eat it all by itself. I'd say the coons win this one. Loves hotdogs? While I know that MrDucky can eat more than anybody, you will never see Steve without a package or two. He acts like he is just trying to be nice and feed everybody, but I think he's addicted. There has to be a support group that we can get him into. Steve blows away the competition on this one. I bet it was Steve. You gotta keep your eye on a guy that drives around with "Old Great One" on his tags.
  23. Guys, I had a great time. Didn't make it to the biscuits and gravy in time but enjoyed lunch. Dano, did you ever fish another hole? I know those fish had to be glad when you left! I fished a pine squirrel most of the day. Fished all colors but black was the best. Did finally hook two nice fish up by the lodge but couldn't land either one of them. One came loose and the other broke me off. Thanks again guys, I really enjoyed it. Probably head down again this weekend with one or more of my daughters. I would really like to get them hooked up with a big fish.
  24. Hey MrDucky, where have you been?? Really weird, I was thinking about you and LMW a couple of weeks ago, wondering what you guys were doing. And then you both show back up about the same time. Glad to see you are still around.
  25. And I thought that was just some bad chewing gum that you gave me!!
