Does anyone know if you can fish this Friday. I saw one site that said the park is closed due to power outages. I have to see a customer at Lake of the Ozarks Friday morning and would love to fish there on my way home.

I'm sure that postponing it will be better for everyone. Take care of yourself and if you need anything let us know.

I also have Alltel and it works great on all the local lakes & streams. Not so good if you are trying to ignore the wife.

I'm planning on tying a worm pattern that the smallies just love. It's based on a 4" french fry plastic worm that I had great success on when I used to fish a lot of tournaments. It's kind of like a Gulley worm if you know what that is. Dano, what is a IPW worm? Leonard, if we need another to hit the 15 fly min. let me know. I have a woolly booger crawfish pattern that those smallies like that I could share as well.

Has anyone tried the Pro-Tec Lure and Jig Powder Paint by Component Systems? I saw them demonstrated once and it looked very simple. Just heat up the head and dip it in the powder. Supposed to be very durable. I almost always use an automotive paint with an airbrush. Might be overkill for the jigheads, unless you are doing a lot at once. Makes for a very nice hard bodied popper though.

This is one class that I really wanted to attend. But due to the circumstances I couldn't. I would really like to see this offered again later in the year.

I'm in Leonard. Don't know what it will be just yet, gotta get some power back at the house first. But I will probably make it one of my smallmouth favorites.

The last three days we have been living a nightmare. Springfield is a disaster. We lost power about 11:30 Friday night. We made it through the night, very cold. My parents still had power in Republic so we headed there to ride this one out. Then about 8:00 last night the whole town lost power. Once again we stuck it out. Had called about hotel rooms but there were none and waiting lists with as many as 100 people already on them. After a very cold night we headed back to Springfield. My sister lost part of her house to a fire a couple of weeks ago and had a suite at the Residence Inn in Springfield. We went by there to get warmed up and a shower. We got lucky and the people there found us a room. I left two of my daughters with my sister and headed to the house with my wife and other daughter to get more clothes and to make sure that place was still standing. It looks like a bomb went off in my backyard. When I get back there I will take some pictures and post them. Well after all that we made it back to the hotel about 6:00pm and just as we pulled in and parked all the power went out. I was beginning to think that I was living in hell. My wife cried, my kids were crying, it's a mess. Finally around 10:00pm the power came back on. What a relief. We get one warm night. Don't know what we will do in the morning. They said we could stay here as long as we needed the room, but at $140 per night I don't think I can stay for long. Everybody stay warm and safe out there.

What is the one in the middle. I like that one, alot.

I got my hands on both of these rods last night. Very interesting and I'm sure they are going to be a blast to fish. I did notice two odd things, well they seem odd to me anyway. The 5wt has the line weight right on the rod like it should, but it says it's rated for 2-6lb test and has recommended lure sizes??? The 5/6 wt says 5/6 wt on the rod. Perfect. But it doesn't have any snake guides??? They are just "normal" guides. Will this be a problem with casting?? Of course I am going to put a 7wt line on it and my casting is horrible anyway so I probably won't notice. It just seemed odd to me.

Yep, we are all aware of that.

I will tell you that the fly fishing crowd is a lot more helpful and friendly than any bass fishing crowd that I have been around. I'm glad that I have made the change and I'm very appreciative of all of you guys. I guess I'll have to buy Michael lunch sometime soon.

Well I may be crazy (actually I am a little stupid sometimes) but I'm going to try a 7wt line on the eagle claw 5/6 rod. Why? Simple I already have a reel loaded with 7wt line! It will be too much I'm sure, but I've got to try it anyway. Hopefully I'll get a chance to try it this weekend and I'll let you know the disasterous results. My wife called me today to let me know that the rods have arrived, and also to ask why I was buying more fishing stuff. You would think she would learn! I'm anxious to get my hands on the rods but I'm stuck in North Carolina.

Phil, I would be more than happy to pay for a hat if you get something worked out.

You are very welcome Mr. Ducky. I would also like to thank Michael. I knew how to tie a zonker, but Michael's pattern is the best looking one that I have seen. He took the time to show us his technique while his lunch sat there and got cold. I would have kicked us out and ate my lunch!! By the way Michael, how is that case of the gout going???

Fly reel = Left hand. It just seems to be the best for me. When I did try to use my right hand I had to change hands that was actually holding the rod and it was hard to maintain tension on the line.

Michael, what sizes do you have left? If it helps I need something big. I was the one in today that watched Mr. Ducky tie his first zonker.

I saw something swimming across the rebar hole on NYD. It must have been one of those beavers. They don't seem too worried about all the people.

that would be cool....kind of like those bartender books. List what you have and it tells you what kind of drink you can make. Not very handy if your only ingredient is beer, that's why I threw mine away. Ducky I haven't forgot about you, just haven't been by when you were there.

Give up on the bigger house idea. You won't be able to buy one now that you are spending all your money on fly fishing equipment. And be careful in the parking lot. When I was learning to cast the biggest space I had was between the neighbors house and mine. I was trying to cast to the street. The first time I made it to the street my line went all the way across and a car ran over it. That can't be good. Luckily I hadn't spent the money on a quality line yet. P.S.
