The last three days we have been living a nightmare. Springfield is a disaster. We lost power about 11:30 Friday night. We made it through the night, very cold. My parents still had power in Republic so we headed there to ride this one out. Then about 8:00 last night the whole town lost power. Once again we stuck it out. Had called about hotel rooms but there were none and waiting lists with as many as 100 people already on them. After a very cold night we headed back to Springfield. My sister lost part of her house to a fire a couple of weeks ago and had a suite at the Residence Inn in Springfield. We went by there to get warmed up and a shower. We got lucky and the people there found us a room. I left two of my daughters with my sister and headed to the house with my wife and other daughter to get more clothes and to make sure that place was still standing. It looks like a bomb went off in my backyard. When I get back there I will take some pictures and post them.
Well after all that we made it back to the hotel about 6:00pm and just as we pulled in and parked all the power went out. I was beginning to think that I was living in hell. My wife cried, my kids were crying, it's a mess. Finally around 10:00pm the power came back on. What a relief. We get one warm night. Don't know what we will do in the morning. They said we could stay here as long as we needed the room, but at $140 per night I don't think I can stay for long.
Everybody stay warm and safe out there.
