    Seahorses?

Dang, I've been lurking and waiting
  2. Ok, I couldn't resist. I ordered the 6'6" 5wt and the 7' 5/6wt. Good call on the medalist Dano, I found one in all my stuff last night. Now all I need is a decent line or two.
  3. At that price how can you go wrong. I'm ordering one. Of course now I will need another reel, and some line. My new $20 rod is gonna end up costing me well over $100. Dang it Dano, my wife is gonna kill me.
  4. drew03cmc I was looking at a map of MDC's Smallmouth Bass Special Management Areas and they list Big Buffalo Creek as a catch and Release only area. There is a Conservation Area there with public access. It looks to be 5 or 10 miles south of Stover. This should be a lot closer to KC. You should be able to do a search on the MDC site and come up with some info. Go give it a try and let us know if it's any good. I may just have to go up there and look around myself.
  5. I did a search and found these from $14.95 to $16.95. Can that be right?? For that price I will have to get one to play with.
  6. So what is the best choice???
  7. Boat ramps are one of my favorite places, maybe that's one of the reasons I like to wade so much now. There seem to be a lot of people that think it's all about them, but there are a lot that just don't know any better. Fishing, all kinds, has become very popular. And it seems that there are a lot of people out there that don't know a thing about etiquette. They just bought them a big ol fancy boat and have no idea how to drive it, much less get it in or out of the water. I myself have never been afraid to ask someone to move. I guess sometimes they assume that you just want to float around out there in the rain. A guide should know better. Once while fishing the Tournament of Champions on Table Rock I helped a lady that was really stuggling back a trailer down, after I got out of the truck another lady asked me to back down another truck. I backed down 7 trailers in a row and actually had to pull one boat on a trailer. All the while having the guys I was with sit there and heckle me. I've seen some strange things at the boat ramp but I will remember that day forever. I'm just glad that I don't need a boat ramp to enjoy myself fishing any more.
  8. Thanks to everyone for a great New Years Day. All of you are great people and I really enjoyed it. I even caught some fish!! Russ thanks for the fly. I was doing really good on it until I lost it. Next time I will return the favor. Leonard trhanks for the seahorses they were great and that special coffee that you made me was great too. Phil, thanks for everything that you have done and continue to do. I would never be fishing for trout if it had not been for this site. Ronnie
  9. Thanks for cleaning up after us Don. I think I got home with everything that I took except for a few flies! However if you ever run accross the real Rachael Ray hang on to her for me Ronnie P.S. whn you are ready to go after some smallies let me know, I would love to see your face when an 18" smallie takes off with your fly.
  10. Whip finisher out of a paper clip? Even I'm not that cheap!!! As much as I have spent on this sport so far I think I will stick with my $5 whip finishing tool. Of course if I was as talented as Phil I would do it by hand, it looks a lot faster. I make that one of my New Years resolutions.
  11. I will leave my house with a thermos full, but it may be getting low by the time I get there!! I'm trying to get a buddy to bring his camp stove, if so I will have a way to make it.
  12. That's an interesting question LMW. I do know that lakes and farm ponds in south Oklahoma and north Texas do turn over, but it seems like it was always late Feb. or March before it happened. We do need some good cold weather, but I sure hope it holds off until next Tuesday! My waders are still leaking and I just spent all my wader savings on a new vest.
  13. Greg, that's the same type of hatch that I ran into a while back. I did well on a griffins gnat. It didn't match the flies that buzzing around but it was the only fly I had any luck on.
  14. I have yet to find a vest that has a beer holder built in. But I have managed in the past no problems. If the weather isn't horrible I will have beer with me, I just can't help it. I still have some of those old bass fisherman ways. Plus, I've got the Johnny Walker Red that LMW special ordered.
  15. I think it's been off all day. This is the first time that I have been able to get on.
  16. Hey Tim, what are your store hours. I drove by today and the place looked dark & empty. And I had a couple thousand dollars to spend
  17. Interesting comments Steve. I've wanted to try a furled leader for some time now but haven't. Is it really that much better for fishing a dry? Why not use them for a wet fly?
  18. Brian, are soft plastics the only restriction in the blue ribbon area? I would like to go after a few of those smallmouths. And catching a few trout in the process wouldn't be a bad thing!!
  19. Note to Self: Items to bring for LMW. 1. Johnny Walker Red. 2. A place for him to sit down after he has a few. Might want to bring a cot also. 3. Cups so he doesn't have to drink right from the bottle.
  20. I can bring a cooler with some drinks. I'll have some Dr. P. Let me know if you have any other requests.
  21. Hey Phil, Next time you take the family to Cancun, why not take your OAF family with you . We could all make sure that you got a chance to chase those bones. Have a great trip.
  22. Great to have you back Terry. Take care of yourself and you will be out there chasing those trout in no time.
  23. Welcome Wallichaser. I can't help you in finding any walleyes but I could sure help you eat any that you do catch This forum is full of great people and I'm sure someone will get you going in the right direction. Merry Christmas to you and everybody else.
  24. Well my boss has screwed me again. Gotta a two hour conference call in the morning. Good thing I like him a lot or there would be problems! May try to make it an afternoon trip.
  25. Oh yes, bring the vise. I would really like to see you tie. I need all the pointers I can get. This is going to be a great time. I'm really looking forward to it.
