  1. Well okay old man. Don't get your Depends in a wad. But can we start calling the whites Sand Bass like I'm used to?
  2. SW MO spots also qualify. They are a blast to catch, much more fun than a crane rainbow. I wonder how many spots eat crane rainbows each year???
  3. Nice catch there on the Andy's DB. That was the morning after. It was also after the dog had chewed up the cup a bit. I'm glad I have taught you some things. I would love to answer your question about the MFU, however we no longer associate with those that have poser avatars. Try changing that and I will see if I can answer your question. Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time.
  4. Oh sorry, my bad. It was those little rainbows in Crane that you were tossing on the bank. Since their not native and all.
  5. I know where you can rent a canoe for a six pack and some of those naked lady golf tees but you gotta pick it up and bring it home.
  6. You can't eat them Cricket. Eric says they are not worthy. You just toss them up on the bank to make more room for smallies.
  7. Oh come on. I'm calling BS until I see some pics. Actually I carried a D40 for a couple of years and never had a problem. Now I carry a D90 and just hope for the best. You can get waterproof bags for both. I have a bag for the D90 that allows you to take pics underwater, but I've really only used it in the pool. When I wade I carry it in a dry bag and when I float it spends a lot of time just laying on the cooler with a towel thrown over it. One of these days my luck is going to run out. Head upstream from the bridge sometime. There are some really nice pools around the first bend.
  8. And this is the reason nobody likes you Brian. Good luck and have a safe trip. Can't wait to see the video.
  9. Nice fish Lenny.
  10. There's no better way to cover a small body of water than a float tube. Yes it's slow, but it so much easier and quieter than fishing out of a canoe. Float tubes are not allowed on Fellows or Springfield lake. I have been ran off of Fellows a couple of times. I have also had lengthy discussions with people in charge about allowing float tubes. They always go back to the same thing, there is no swimming allowed in either lake so they don't allow float tubes.
  11. Jack & Aro, If you guys will pm me your address I'll send you some gurglers to try.
  12. I thought that was the mad midget in the photo.
  13. Yes officer but they're not mine.
  14. Thanks guys. And yes there is nothing better than some Andy's Frozen Custard on the river. But it takes about 10lbs of dry ice and it's own cooler to get it there. Dano the camera is a Nikon D90. Not a camera that most would carry in a canoe but I take it everywhere I go.
  15. Crawfly is dead on with the gurgler. Best smallmouth fly ever. Way, way, waaayyyyy better than a sneaky pete.
  16. Have a good time and take some pictures. Good luck with the fishes too.
  17. What a hot trip. Heat, rain, lightning and some frog water made this a tough one on fishing and floating. We did not catch many fish and really worked our butts off for the ones we did catch. I've never seen so many 8 to 10 inch smallies in my life, they are everywhere. We saw some big monsters and had a few chances to play but blew every opportunity. Still a great time with some awesome friends. Blaine was ready to go. Can't go wrong with a rubber snake. Crouching tiger. We made camp. Built a fire. About 10pm my buddy Kevin, who manages the Andy's Frozen Custard in Jonesboro, AR pulls out dessert. Alien spacecraft I'm sure. The later it got, the weirder it got. Camper down. The next morning these littleguys were everywhere around camp smashing minnows. Look at the gut on that thing.
  18. You have to try it on top. No better (more fun) way to do it. Poppers work, but like Gavin suggests with the sneaky pete, a fly that pushes and dives and glides across the surface is usually best. There are a lot of different things you can do, just like you can in gear fishing. If you have to go subsurface I usually try to find a fly that will suspend a little when you stop it. Heavily weighted flies often produce that jigging action that you talk about, but that may not be what they want.
  19. Bolivar Landing area. White Spinnerbait.
  20. Good for you Cricket. Glad to see that you are going to be a pain in my fat butt for a long time. Now if they would just invent a e-burger I could lose some weight.
  21. He might but it's bullshit if he does. He was legal in taking it and he feels bad for it so it really doesn't matter what any of us think. I can't even believe you posted that RS, maybe if you were 10 or something I would understand. Seriously??
  22. I like it too. Plus I don't end up with a bunch of other crap that I didn't need in the first place. But I will say that the flyshop in Bass Pro in Sprinfield has about a third of the selection of Cabela's in KC. Kind of sad really.
  23. Nice fish! Man I hate Fellows. Actually I just hate the fact that they won't allow a 200hp on the lake.
  24. Go somewhere else? Sorry couldn't resist. Me and some buddies were going to do it this weekend but after looking at the levels we decided on a different river. Maybe it's good, but we chose to just stay closer. Good luck and be sure to let us know how it goes. Hopefully we are wrong on our thinking.
  25. I kind of agree with Capt. Jack. I guess having Bass Pro about 10 minutes away kind of spoils ya maybe. They have a ton of stuff, but never what I'm really looking for. My dad and I have always joked if you want to know what the fish are biting on in the area lakes go to Bass Pro and look for what they don't have. Plus the flyshops in the Cabela's that I have been in are way better than the Flyshops in Bass Pro. But there are better places to spend your money.
