  1. Thank you!
  2. I am planning to come up Saturday and wonder how much rain the river has received and if you expect river condition to be fishable? I am working in central Ark today and there is some pretty serious rain. Any info would be appreciated.
  3. I fished the opener a.m. And did well on a tan scud behind an egg. Only caught a few on the egg but they seemed to bite the scud better in combo than by itself. Same story with mostly stockers and a couple in the 15-17" range but plenty of fish. Caught a couple on a crackleback fished dry but hit midges and scud better.
  4. Midges are my winter time fly of choice and I will often fish a 16 with 18 or 20 trailer in olive, black or blue dun. You can catch fish stripping a soft hackle or crackleback especially in the moving water. Some frown on fishing a olive micro jig under an indicator but often it has saved the day.
  5. If you don't mind the drive Eureka Springs is about 30 minutes and has good food and hotel choices. Since fishing hours are 8:00 to 4:00 the amenities are worth the drive to me.
  6. Are there any public access spots to put in a kayak between the public ramp at the dam and Cooper Creek? Thanks.
  7. Tim, the river is in good shape and the afternoon was gorgeous. The flow is a little high but caught plenty of fish on most everything I tried with best fish on a scud below a SJW. Thanks for the info!
  8. It looks like from the graphs that the river level is back to 1.05 and about 100 cfs. Thinking about heading up from Fayetteville tomorrow and wondered if the river is in fishable condition?
  9. Thanks I'm staying at your place and have a guide trip tomorrow but on foot today...
  10. Is the Corp website down today to get projected generation? Any recommendations for a fly fisher wading?
  11. I fished Sunday p.m. As well and midges during winter in 18's or 20's generally work well. I did well on a ruby midge and camel zebra with copper bead. It's hard to beat brown /olive are generally good day in and day out.
  12. With the current low water I am considering taking the family on a hike vs. float and wondered if anyone had experiece with particular stretch of the Buffalo trail that would lend itself to fishing. Probably prefer a day hike (6 mi or less). Any suggestions would be appreciated. Larry
  13. I got my flies today and they are awesome. Leonard thanks again for hosting!

  15. I would like to partcipate and tie a version of Mike Jacobs "Bronze Goddess". Larry
  16. I have been doing some smallmouth fishing with a fly rod this year with all the high water on the trout streams. What color woolybugger do you like for the smallies? Ive tied some crazy craws with sililegs in tan and olive and used some clousers left over from white bass fishing in olive / white and chart / white. Any other recommendations would be appreciated. Larry

    Indian Creek

I know there has previuosly been some debate as to what is "public access" on Indian Creek. Does anyone know if the access behind the funeral home in Anderson or the low water bridge above Lanagan is considered public access to park to wade or put in a canoe? That stretch was relative free from major portage last time I floated.... Any word appreciated. Larry
  18. We floated the stretch to Grandview last weekend and the flow was perfect and the fishing good. Primarily spin fished plastic in the pools and waded the runs wtih a fly rod and had a big time. Good wading around the Grandview bridge but not sure how skinny the water will be around Marble... the water is down almost a foot since last weekend and dropped from 1000 cfs to around 500 cfs.
  19. There were probably 25+ people fishing yesterday but the weather was phenomenal. Most were catching fish. I caught fish on several flies. In the a. m. I did best on Pheasant tail with a zebra dropper and in the afternoon when the fish warmed up a Griffiths Gnat.
  20. I got to fish a couple of hours this p.m. At Rocking Chair and did ok. Caught 7 or 8 on scud, pheasant tail and pine squirrel steamer... something on everything.... But not much of a pattern... Good to get out after being holed up all weekend.
  21. Olive pine squirrel streamers are one of my all time favorites for winter trout... thanks for the recommendations. Larry
  22. Thanks Greg! Hopefully the weather and water will cooperate! Larry
  23. Headed to Taney for a couple of days on Sunday and hope to wade some if there is low water. Any flies working better recently? Merry Christas to all!
  24. Same story on Monday...water was falling out when we got there around 7:30 but the fish were rising at the tail of the shoal... We did best early on a soft hackle but when the sun got up good switched to a red/silver zebra midge. It was good to have low water and to be able to wade again. Larry

Did you find any color combination of clouser to be more effective?
