  1. These are troughs with pallets over the top then covered with rocks. We can fit all the way under it with just our heads sticking out
  2. Nice. Which Park?
  3. I might do 2 more of them on the same point for different wind directions. They will make for some great fishing spots when the water comes back up. If you can find them, mark them.
  4. Whadju call me.... ???? I keep telling people, I have never worked harder to have fun at something than hunting ducks
  5. DD'sMC and I took a couple of hours to make this blind on the Rock today because there is no cover close to the water anywhere on the lake. Cant wait to try it out as soon as some ducks show up. Did see about 200 ducks flying in right at dark over by the Kimberling City bridge area this evening. Hope that is a good sign of what is to come this week.
  6. Thanks guys. Little easier to get ducks when there are ducks around.
  7. Scouted around Coney Island area on Table Rock this afternoon. Saw 2 mallards and 5 golden eye. Did manage to find a cove where about 20 geese were spending their afternoon. Hung around the point and fished for about and hour before they decided to get up and fly out over me. Ended up getting 2 of them. Did not lead the 3rd bird quite enough. I'm sold on it now Scott! They just up and crumpled from 40 yards out.
  8. nothing flying on upper bull shoals this morn
  9. Just scouted Table Rock around Comb's Ferry, Indian point and north side of the dam. No new ducks there yet. Gonna hunt lower Taney in the morning I guess.
  10. I hear ya John. Been pretty disgusted with Lower Taney and Table Rock so far. Thats why we made a run for the east side. Things should start freezing up north next week and hopefully force some birds down our way
  11. Made a duck run over to SE Missouri with a couple of buddies that call themselves the Black Plague. We poor lined it at Otter Slough on Wed. the 5th and ended up drawing pill #2. Great hunt with a variety of birds. Three limits of ducks and two white front or speckle bellies as a bonus. Hunted pool 21 and just had a bang up day. Day 2, we had reservations at Duck Creek. Got up at 3 a.m. and left Dexter, Missouri with plenty of time to get to the drawing. I mile before the turn off to head quarters of Duck Creek, the road was closed due to the bridge being out. The 45 min. detour to get around made us miss the drawing and the reservation to pick a pill that guarantees a hunt. Now I start to see why these guys call themselves the "Black Plague". Luckily there were still two pools open to hunt and we picked the one that had recorded two birds being killed in the last week instead of the one with 0 kills in the last week. Ended up collecting 7 birds out of that pool. Not a bad day and ducks for dinner that night. Day 3, we went back to the poor line at Otter Slough and drew pill 31 out of 33 parties. At least we were getting to hunt. picked pool 32 that had 0 kills the day before and only one kill one wed. We sat up in the middle and ended up busting 12 ducks and one snow. Another great day of hunting with 4 green heads, one susie, two shovelers, two gaddys, two green wings, a great bull sprig and the snow goose.
  12. DD'sMC and I will be there. Will bring 2 portable gas grills and duck poppers
  13. Good to get a report from you Rick. You had us all a little scared there for a while. MK kept me updated. We will see you on the water again soon!
  14. DD'sMC and I got out and did a little fishing on upper and lower Lake Taneycomo today. We put in at the Landing around 10:30 a.m. and fished right around the Fish House. Using fly rods and anything from egg patterns to mega worms we caught 8 or 10 fish in that area. After getting bored with that, with 2 units running, we decided to head up to Look Out Island. We fished the bluff side down to Fall Creek and caught several fish. DD'sMC threw Mega Worms and white mink sculpins about 2 feet under an indicator, and I switched from the same set up to a sinking leader and stripped the white mink sculpin. Anywhere there was slack water or a back eddie, we caught fish. Fun day on the water and we ended the day by going back to the Fish House for and early dinner around 4 p.m. No big fish caught today. Biggest ones were in the 14-15 inch range and several in the 10-12 inch range.
  15. Nice report. Yep, Its that time of year again.
  16. I hunted Lower Taney on the opener also. Got out there early and went east of Rockaway Beach. Ended up with 2 banded geese and one gadwall before I left. Brothers stayed out and got 2 more geese and 6 more mallards. Hunted Bull creek Sunday with 4 gaddys and a mallard, then hunted again in Bull Creek yesterday with only one mallard. They are getting smarter quick. Need some nasty weather to bring down new ones.
  17. The heavier tippet will help stop the twisting
  18. Glad to see you back on the forum buddy!
  19. Hope to see you out there. Saw lots of ducks on the James River Arm up above point 15 and hearing good reports about lower Taney. Looking like it's gonna be a great year for the ducks.
  20. Thanks Marty! Hunting up north was fantastic. Lots of pintails, mallards, wigeon, green wings, and cackling geese on coastal ponds and slews. When I get a chance, I'll get some pictures posted on here. Looking forward to getting a hunt or two in with you this year.
  21. Canoe once owned by Al located in Montana? Sounds like a good excuse for a road trip!
  22. Today was the last day of resident goose season in Missouri. Team Ducky made a go of it. Brother Dave, Daddy Doty, and I headed out before daylight and set up on a grassy flat on Table Rock Lake. Our set up concisted of one standing goose decoy and grass covered tarps to lay under. 10 minutes after getting settled in, the 1st group of geese flew over. 30-35 birds just out of range. 10 minutes later a group of 6 came right in and all of them fell from the sky. Layed there another hour and a half before deciding to try some crappie fishing. We fished pole timber all the way to the next flat and saw the 1st group of geese that had flown over us earlier. Pulled out the trolling motor, trimmed the Merc. out of the water, put the fishing gear down and let the wind blow us right up to them. After narrowing the distance via the wind to 45 yards, the geese got up and flew right to us. Finished our limits and headed to Taney for some late afternoon and night fishing. 175782_4236314864456_1605553163_o.jpg
  23. I think I might be able to help you out on some Omega 3's. Just boxed up 30 pounds of salmon to bring home. I'll have it in the area around the 10th. Looking forward to hunting with ya buddy!
  24. I wonder where both of them stand on the Pebble Mine issue?
