  1. I like the screen shots. Thanks for posting Don. Congrats on getting into them.
  2. Hey Don, Could you post some pictures from the graph if you find some spoonbill on there?
  3. Looks like they might turn the water off at 1 p.m. for the rest of the day today. See you guys on the water!
  4. Yes, I eat them. Very white meat, all most crab like with a sweet flavor. The big ones work best because of the double "Y" bone that runs down the side. I fillet the sides off then cut the skin off and get all the dark meat off the fillet. then start cutting in strips the length of the fillet and work around and inside the "Y" bone. Good eats!
  5. Nice catch! And good report!
  6. When the Missouri River comes up, you may want to try Howell Island in Chesterfield. Use to get into them there in the early 90's when I first started snagging. That is back when a 10 pound big head carp was a huge one. I was the only one eating them back then.
  7. That would have been us. Thought it was a spoonbill at first.
  8. 2 nights ago I saw about 12 of them down there.
  9. Use to below Alton lock and dam and out at Chain of Rocks. Heard you cant do it out at Chain of Rocks anymore.
  10. Fished again this afternoon/evening. Got there about 4 p.m. and wade fished the gravel bar across from Blunk Ramp. There was pretty much no bite till after dark. From 7:30 till 9 P.M. I landed 14 or 15 whites. Let them all go tonight. Looking forward to Michael's report. Passed him on the way out as he was coming in.
  11. The walleye have to be 18 inches to keep. Just down stream of the ramp is where we are catching them right as it gets dark. You will see the crowds.
  12. Took the fly rod over to Blunk Hole about 6 p.m. last night. All parking spots were full and 17 vehicles were parked along the road with boat trailers. I managed to fing a place to park and walked down to the boat ramp. Ran into a few buddies that I only see on the water this time of year. While talking to them and getting thier fishing reports the wind started picking up and the rain started falling. Next thing I knew thier were 25 boats lined up to take out. It was after 7:30 p.m. before we could launch our boat. We could see some lightning on the horizon and the last few boats on the water headed for the ramp. By the time the lightning got to us, we were the only ones on the river. Could not get a bite during the storm but once it passed the fishing really got good. Had to use a 7ft. sinking leader to get to the depth that the fish wanted. Purple/grey and purple/pink clousers caught a limit for me.

    Walleye

Nice report. The walleye are a huge bonus for sure!
  14. Fishing is definately better in the evening. We only put 27 in the boat this morning. Still a good time though.
  15. DD'sMC and I are fixin to head out the door and go back down there this morning. Hoping the walleye bite might be a little better. Sure was fun watching you and My MonaChari catch fish on every cast. The both of you SMOKED me last night.
  16. I understand. The walleye were down below where all the boats were when we got there yesterday. DD'sMC hooked up with one, but it cut the 4 lb. line right at the boat. Stayed down there about an hour and could not get another one to bite so we headed back up to where the whites were and then it was a fish every cast.
  17. Sorry bout that. Should have been there this evening. They turned on just before dark and we all caught limits in about 30 minutes.
  18. Should've stuck around till dark. Phil is fixin to post a report.
  19. Good luck and looking forward to the report!
  20. I dont mind giving out the location of the spot that I fished and did well today.....because I wont be there tomorrow. I am hoping that members, lurkers, and everyone else that is looking for some help to catch some fish, use the information that I provide and fish tomorrow in the spot where I told them the fishing was good today. Tomorrow, I will be fishing at a new spot and providing another report to try and help out anothers fishing adventer the next day.
  21. There were quite a few people fishing from the bank below Blunk and doing very well today. Especially early this morning. In another week or two, Taylor Shoals will be very good bank fishing and it is just up from Blunk hole. There was nobody fishing the gravel bar across from Blunk Ramp today, which supprised me. If you had a canoe or belly boat, you could get across to there very easy and be in a great spot that is not crowded to fish for the whites.
  22. Nice report. Great day to be out fishing, wasn't it?
  23. Picked them up below Blunk Hole. I would start at the real sharp bend in the river with the bluff running quite aways down (I think McCord's Bend) and just drift real slow down the the 1st dock on the James. About a 250 yard stretch. Posititioned myself on the bluff side and cast towards the middle and just let it sink all the way to the bottom (12-15 seconds). Then bring it back real slow twitching and hopping. The bite was real soft and the lure would just feel heavy. Caught the largest one right in front of the dock.
  24. Happy Birthday Paola Cat. Hope you had a great day and got to do some fishing!
  25. I did not get down there till 9 a.m. and as it turned out, it was the tail end of the morning bite for whites.......but I did find something else that wanted to play, and they played till around 2 p.m.........Walleyes were biting good. I ended up putting three keepers in the live well with the largest being 27 inches. That is a new record walleye for me. I did loose one other large one around 24-25 incher right at the side of the boat. That would have made a limit of keepers. I can not imagine how the bite would be after dark and early morning for them if it was that good during the day. Blunk got crowded but it seemed everyone was getting along. Must have been 35 boats from Blunk down to McCord's bend. The whites were starting to bite again as we were leaving around 4 p.m. Gulp 3" minnows on 1/8 oz. jig heads picked up all of our fish today. We caught 7 or 8 spots today with one going about 2 1/2 lbs and one large mouth also.
