  3. Yes, I am a member. My name is Chuck and I'm from Griffith, Indiana.I fished the October tournament, I was in a blue Champion. I come down there 5 or 6 times a year. I always stay at Crooked Hook. My boat is permanently docked at Tracy Ferry. I will be down the last week of April and the first week of May. Can't wait !
  4. Coming down there on October 10th and I'd like to try something different for a change. I'd like to try to gig some suckers as I love to pickle them. Can anyone point me towards some spots on the lake to give this a try ? Thanks in advance.
  5. Cody, thanks for a great day on the water. Can't wait to fish with you again. If youre looking for a very knowledgable angler and an all around nice guy, Cody is your man. All you have to do is show up and he takes care of everything else.
  6. Want to buy used 2 tank boat lift for 18 foot bass boat on Lake Norfork, thanks in advance, Chuck
  7. I'm staying at crooked hook. I'll be in a ranger too but I'm not sure what color it is ( blue maybe ). Where you from in Indiana ? i'm from griffith. I'll probably be around diamond bay or cow point. Hope to see you to compare notes.
  8. Hey Tom, they are catching walleyes at night casting the banks with rogues. I'm going down Saturday for a week, I'll let you know how I did when I get back.
  9. What a great multi species night below the dam. Caught 6 hybrids, 3 walleyes, 1 white bass, 1 largemouth and 1 brown trout, all on rattling crankbaits. Guys across from me were really slaying the walleyes. A guy from Wisconsin said he caught 20 walleyes Tuesday night on a gold and black floating rapala. Is the DNR going to shock this area to stop the trout predation or are they going to rely on anglers to do it ? I talked to some locals and they said they preferred the fishery the way it is now. I did not realize those fish could survive that fall through the flood gates. I wish I would have found out about it sooner, I had a tough 9 days on the lake before I finally fished below the dam. It was even harder to leave on Saturday than it normally is, but hopefully in 8 years I will be able to fish the area at will.
  10. Nice fish, may I ask where it was caught ?
  11. Thank you very much for the info, I really appreciate it. I'll be in a red Lund with a 25 hp merc the first 3 days, then for a week I'll be in a black Mr. Pike Lund with a 125 Johnson on it. Can't wait to get down there, its 40 degrees and rainy here.
  12. Coming down Wednesday the 30th til May 10th. Hows the fishing been ? Friends tell me Norfork fishing is at its best when the water is high but I dont think they meant almost 30 feet over normal pool. It seems to me I'll be fishing a totally different lake than I have been the last 10 years. Well, it will be a learning experience for me and my crew. Thanks in advance for any info.
  13. Welcome misterpbody. From Tinley Park originally, now live just across the border in NW Indiana. Go to Norfork at least twice a year and next Saturday gonna try Greers Ferry for the first time. Very friendly site here with lots of helpful people.
  14. Put a hot plate in the bottom of your Weber and use fruit wood chunks. I like apple or cherry wood. Smoke for 8-10 hours and serve with ice cold beer.
  15. I believe last time I was there, we parked in the trout hatchery lot. Stop in and ask and its a real cool place to see how they raise trout.
  16. Cody, Check your e mail please. Thanks, Chuck
  17. I have a 2000 Ford Excursion with a 7.3 Powerstroke Diesel that just hit 200,000 miles and its just getting broken in. I use synthetic oil and change it out every 5000 miles. I just love that truck. Gets 20 mpg on the highway as long as I keep it under 2000 Rpm's ( 65 mph ) and 14-16 mpg in the city. Want to get another one for the wife but she says its too big.
  18. Thanks bryantsmallie and again to you Al. I have glass minnow traps that are very good for chubs up north, but I did not have much success using them where the Norfork meets the White. I got about a dozen minnows, but they were some type of river shiner. I used cracker crumbs as bait. I think this year I will use dog food and see what happens. This would all be a moot point if I could just learn how to throw a cast net properly. My guide took me out with him to catch bait last year and I just couldnt get the hang of it. If any of you are familiar with smelt fishing, I do have a boom net that I am going to attempt to use to get shad this year. We have been doing very good on artificials though, so I am not too worried about it. It just seems we get the bigger stripers using live bait. Going to Greers Ferry in 3 weeks and then Norfork a month after that, I cant wait, I just love it down there. I am going to try that with my traps, I had them both facing the same way.
  19. I was wondering what a slick is and where can I purchase or trap them in the Mountain Home area. Thanks in advance.
