  1. OK. Thanks for the feedback, guys.
  2. Looking for some place to wade fish during high water instead of fishing the outlets and fighting the crowds. I was googling the area around Branson and Holister and I noticed Turkey Creek. It looks like I could park in the back parking lot of the Pizza joint and access the creek from there. Would it be worth the time and effort to do this? Could I expect to find trout and smallmouth? Have any of you guys fished that area? Thanks,
  3. Brian, OK. I have a few questions here. I noticed in the Ice Pick video that the hook you are using has a down eye. Will the fly run with the hook eye up or will it run with the hook eye down? I feel like it will turn over and run with the eye up, although, I think it would depend on where the weight in that fish head is distributed. If it runs with the eye up, does that mean that the pattern should be flipped and is it supposed to be yellow or white on top? (I know the colors can vary, but, I'm referring to the video) Thanks in advance, your videos really help me.

    Pond Scum

These ponds are receiving runoff from the surrounding businesses and neighborhoods. I believe it is, as you mentioned, not being filtered very much before it hits the ponds. So, is it better for the Pond Ecosystem to remove all of that scum/algae?

    Pond Scum

I have noticed that several of the neighborhood community ponds in my area are loaded with Pond Scum/Algae. It would be nice to be able to catch fish without have to drag them through all of that stuff. At times, I've thought about taking a leaf rake to the ponds and pulling all of that off of the top of the water. However, I don't know if this would be a help or a hinderance to the ecosystem of the Pond. Do you guys have any insight into this issue? Thanks.
  6. Isn't that called chumming? JK. I hope your next trip is a better experience.
  7. If I didn't have family coming to town, I would go with you. Wooly Buggers in Olive, Brown or Black. Pheasant Tail Nymphs #14 or #16. Zebra Midges #16 and smaller in Black, Olive, Red, Yellow or Brown. Top water bite will probably depend on whether or not there is some kind of midge hatch occurring. Egg patterns will probably work too.
  8. Dude, what's with the glove? Do you always fish with that? Nice flies and nice fish!
  9. Congrats Leonard!! In addition to being a great pattern for trout, the #8 Hibernator in Black and Blue has been my best warm water fly. It is usually the first fly that I pick to try on warm water ponds. Bass, Crappie and various perch species have all been landed on this pattern. I even caught a 4lb catfish on it the other day!
  10. dgames, Thanks for posting that picture. I've heard you mention this fly before and I always wondered what it looked like.
  11. I'd never really thought about tying an articulated pattern until I started watching Brian's videos. I actually tied my first one the other day. Brian, thanks for taking the intimidation out of tying these patterns.
  12. Yes, that was me. I recognize you from your picture. You were wearing the blue shirt, right?
  13. Nice. I wish that I had gone to Watts instead of the Gravel Parking Lot. I got on the water about 10:00am Saturday. I fished the back side of the Island and caught about 30 in short order. I caught a half dozen on the Hair and Copper #14. I had 6x tippet on, which was not near enough. I broke off on every other fish until I finally tied on 5x tippet. (I'm smarter than the average bear. ) At that point I switched to a Hot Spot Pheasant Tail #14 and started catching fish on every drift. After catching a couple of dozen fish on the same fly, I hung it in a tree. It was OK, I had more. However, I was becoming bored, so, I moved up to the big water above the island. It took me a while to figure out what they wanted, in that stretch of water. Although, that was probably because I didn't really want to fish a midge. I finally tied on a black zebra midge #18 and started catching fish. The Horn blew earlier than scheduled but I'd already had enough fun for the day anyway. So, I packed up and headed back to Owasso, after stopping for a burger at Jimbo's.
  14. RabbitHunter, Welcome to the forum as an active poster. I would, definitely like to hook up with you and Nick sometime. I'll be finished with volleyball after next weekend and will have more time to get out and fish. I had never heard of a BoogleBug until you mentioned it. I Googled it just now to see what it was. The popper looks just like the FlipFlop popper that I tie except I don't put eyes on mine.
  15. I'm planning on going down Saturday. It'll probably be wall to wall people. Oh well, guess I'll be another brick in the wall.
  16. Does the age requirement matter whether or not you are a resident or non-resident?
  17. Wasn't intentional. With all the high water we've been having, this area wasn't seeing much activity. So, I just had to put something in here. Your post made me laugh, though. However, I just noticed that if the generation pattern stays consistent, we should be seeing some wade-able water in about 5 days!
  18. Nothing to see here, people. Move along. Move along, now.
  19. As always, Nicely done! As much attention as your videos have been getting, I'm sure FeatherCraft will appreciate the signage on the shirt.
  20. I noticed the No Swimming and No Wading sign. It looks a little tight to try to cast a fly rod. Does it open up anywhere?
  21. F&F, does Co Rd 136 end at Parker Bottoms?
  22. Collinsville Church of Christ. I'm one of the song leaders. They may refer to that as the Collinsville City Lake. I know where you are talking about, now. I googled it. I'll have to go out there and try my luck.
  23. Where is the Collinsville Reservoir? I've lived here for 15 years and never heard of it. I even go to church in Collinsville. I hit the Home Depot pond for about an hour tonight before it got dark. Caught lots of Perch. No Bass tonight.
  24. Nick, Nice to see a fellow Owassonian on the forum. I live just north of the high school in Barrington Pointe. We'll have to get together and hit a few neighborhood ponds. I've been having fun catching the warm water species lately. PM me for contact info.
