  2. two buddies and i went down sunday morning expecting the water to be up a bit but boy was it. water was into the woods and over the side walk in most places. the water was a little murky but still looked decent to fish. ended up catching 7 trout and 1 decent sized sucker..hah....not my target speices but fun little fight. caugth em on a trizkid for thoughs of you who read that post. and a copper john and a sized 12 brown wooly bugger. high water kind of sucked but wasnt to bad of a day.
  3. why is the last, and best in my opinion, part of the campground stretch closed to fishing during the c&r?.....i camped at site 313 and was disappointed to find this out, having been expecting to walk right out from the tent into the water and fish.

  10. i like it
  11. ya i wrapped the size 6 hook pretty good with lead to give it more weight, that glo yarn doesnt like to sink well untill it is full of water. I got the idea of that fly from the y2k, but your right its not a y2k which i beleive is more of a egg pattern. it has worked great for me on the current and at meramec springs so far.....you guys should tie some up and give em a try....any suggestions on a name for the thing?
  12. got to the park around 8:30am was a little chilly but not bad, the water had looked like it had cleared some from two weeks ago when i was there. two buddies and i started where the two currents run together down from the granny hole and the line. immediately started hooking in to them, all three of us. with in the first 20 mins i had hooked and lost 4 trout and caught 1. the trout were good sized trout that we hooked/caught all day long. walked around the park and spotted 3 or 4 just monsters but all of which were in very slow deep holes right up next to the sidewalk and were not doing much but just sitting there not moving hardly at all. Had one look at a yellow leeche but only for a second. Anyway we all did well the whole day, it started raining around 230 and that seemed to turn em off. my last fish of the day was the biggest of the day i believe and i had to chase him down to get him in . Hooked up with him about 25ft down from the line and he ran me down to the last boulders there before the two currents meet down near the parking lot. nice fish! what caught about 85% of the fish all day? this guy i tie up, down know what you would call it, but it works great..
  13. two buddies and i are heading down for sunday. Anyone know what the waters lookin like, im sure its not going to be any better looking since i was there last but i hope its not to much worst.
  14. ya it was very fun...first smallie that size for me on a fly rod
  15. I have the same rod and reel set up as you only my rods a 8'6 ft. I currently have s/a headstart line on it and it great...i think anyway...thinking about getting another spool and putting some double taper on it though
  16. started fishing in the park at around 9:30. The water was up and murky, vis was about 2 feet or so. Started off tossing a bright yellow BH rabbit strip leeche. First hook up was in a couple of casts out i was just letting it swing and jerking it every couple of seconds. he just slamed it, i thought it was a nice brownie untill he jumped and I realized it was a nice smallie. Caught him right at the log crossing there by the parking lot. after releasing him my buddy hooked up with another smallie that looked around the same size but ended up getting off. Headed down stream from there picked up a trout or two before losing the leeche. Put on a BH pms i tie and ended up pickin another up at one of the little spillways. After eating lunch headed up the the shallow boulder section there down from the line. Put on a size 6 y2k looking thingy i tie and caught 7 more to end the trip. no pictures of my trout we only had one cam between the 3 of us but did get some pics of the smallie
