Congrats on the productive trip! Brad

I've only caught one by accident, sorry not much help. I'm planning on spending some time on Pomme trying to solve the walleye puzzle. The walleye bite is hot on Stockton right now, going to head over there in the morning and give it a go. Brad
-
I too would like to see more reports and info on Pomme, however it is a smaller lake. I do think there is more pressure per acre on Pomme than Stockton, it appears that way as I fish both often, but being a smaller lake there would be a lesser number of boats. I do think the Pomme board has grown significantly in the last few months and we are starting to see more reports, responses and such. I'm glad to see the increase in Pomme and hope to see it continue in growth. I know there are a lot of visitors who look at the info but never post - here's an invitation to join us and post some good info!!! sandbc we look forward to your reports from your Pomme trips! Good fishing to all, Brad

Great job! Sounds like fun. Brad

The moss is awful! It's all over and really messes with your cranks. Brad

Went bass fishing yesterday afternoon for a few hours - did pretty good considereding it was the middle of the afternoon with a bright sun. Fished secondary points halfway back the creeks - caught fish on cranks (200 series bandit), spinnerbait and a senko style bait (Shimmer Stix - homemade). If this weather coming through tonight doesn't mess things up you should do very well. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Brad
-
Haven't bass fished pomme in a while, however did well at Stockton yesterday. I would imagine the pattern would be very similar - secondary points, especially where banks transition from chunkier rock to smaller gravel. Caught fish on crankbaits, spinner baits and my home made special senko style baits (probably worked the best). If the weather is not too bad might try a little bass and crappie tomorrow at Pomme. Good luck and let us know how you do. Brad

The crappie fishing continues to be fantastic, however within this week they are starting to move and scatter. Monday and Tuesday the fish were still concentrated in deeper water, find the right brush pile and load the boat in a hurry. Most of these fish were in the 11" to 11.5" range, however there were a handful of sub legal fish you had to weed through. Thursday through Saturday the fish started to scatter - still deep fish but the graph was showing probably half as it did early in the week. They have started moving shallower and you can now catch fish from 10 fow to 50 fow. They are biting very aggressive and it is a lot of fun. We've been catching two limits in 2-3 hours. Throughout the week the water level has come up, currently about five feet high. We have also gone from not pulling water to pulling some which does slightly change the behavior of the fish, typically it helps the bite. The water temp cooled last weekend with the cold front/rain that moved through, it has been gradually climbing every day. Today's average was 63 degrees. Been using jigs and catching the fish suspended over the brush, sorry no tree fishing to report for most of them are under water. I like to throw tripple ripple grubs when casting and reeling back, more shad body baits when vertial jigging. Both methods have been working well, however staying off the brush, casting, counting down to the top of the brush and reeling back has been the best, at least I've been able to catch more per pile using this method. It is probably faster to vertical fish but I've not caught nearly as many before the bite slows. Color: glow chart, blue/chart, black/chart, blue thunder/chart, electric chicken, blue/white, blue crystal/shad, blue shad. Both the Pomme arm and Lindly have been great - Lindley is fairly dirty from Pittsburg Landing to just past the bridge, the first 9 miles of the Pomme arm has great visibiity. I'm not fish expert but it appears the crappie are currently spawning - from Monday to today the eggs in the females have considerably diminished, there are probably 20-25% of their eggs left. Here's the puzzling part, perhaps someone can shed some light - I've caught several crappie this week in 35-40 fow, when I pull them in they are oozing eggs - also several of the females are obviously releasing thier eggs as noticed when cleaning however where are they spawning? Do they go shallower at some point during the evening/night and return deeper during the day or are they just laying their eggs in deeper water? I know all fish are a little different and will spawn are varying temperatures and depths, some will always spawn deeper than what we realize, but what's going on with these fish?? Good luck and have a great week fishing!!! Brad

Congrats - Sounds like a great trip. You can catch several on some piles while others will only have a handful. I do know it's been a blast the last few weeks!!! Brad
-
Made it out this afternoon and the crappie are still hungry. Three of us had our limits in about 3.5 hours. Same pattern as the last week or so only the water is a little deeper now. Pay close attention to your line, had several that twitched the line which I never felt, just jerk and set the hook! Good luck - those brush piles should be good tomorrow. Brad
-
Jason, I fished the same pattern on Friday and Saturday - had two limits within a couple of hours each day. It will be interesting to see what happens with the influx of water, change of temp, as well as pulling water at the dam. I would think the deeper fish would be more stable than shallower ones. If I get the chance I will sneak away a couple of hours this afternoon and let you know. We were using jigs casting and swimming back. Just get on top of a brush pile and count down the jig to the top of the brush. Jigs with a tail (tripple ripple, grub, etc) worked best - glow chart, blue/chart, blue. Good luck and let us know how you do. Brad

Stockton Lake Fishing Report
shockley32 replied to Stockton Lake Guide Service's topic in Stockton Lake
Catching is the easy part - locating them can be the hard part. Putting a pattern together can take a large portion of the day, figure it out and then load the boat in a short time. Yes there are several fish just under the length limit however I've never seen the consistent quality of bigger fish than the last 6-7 weeks. The crappie fishing has been some of the best I've ever seen. Brad -

You can run up the Pomme river, put in at Bolivar Landing and make it to McCracken bride in a bass boat (with the high water probably much farther. You can put in at Pittsburg Landing and go way up the Lindley. Good lucki! Brad

Outflow Update For Week Of 4/9 - 4/13
shockley32 replied to MOPanfisher's topic in Pomme De Terre Lake
Interesting - the bass are up shallow in the bushes, will dropping the water pull them completely out? or will they just move a little bit each day? Brad -
Went back this morning - same story! Planning on hitting it tomorrow as well - looks like changing weather later this week and it may mess things up. Perhaps it's mother natures way of keeping them from spawning too early. Brad

The crappie fishing has been as good as I've ever seen it - it appears the spawn is starting to get into the grove. Right now you can catch fish anywhere from the bank to forty feet of water. Even though a front came through Thursday and cooled the water temp down about five degrees they are still aggressive and ready to hit a jig put in front of them. There are a number of males on the banks and up in the button bushes, the lake is approximately three feet high, however the deeper fish have been larger and more consistent. If you are having trouble with the shallow bite just back off to the first brush pile in 10-20 feet of water. They have been suspended over the top of the brush, just run over the pile with your locator to see what depth the fish are, back off, cast, count down and swim it back. Yesterday we caught some in 25 fow, swimming it back 6 feet deep as well as 20 fow swimming it back 16 feet deep. I've noticed over the last week the females went from bulging, looking like they were about to explode, to just somewhat full of eggs. The eggs are extrmeley soft and bloody. I pulled one out yesterday and noticed something odd was up, she was spewing eggs all over the place. Been catching the fish on jigs - swimmer shad with a tripple ripple tail has been the best, although any body style of jig is working well (don't think it matters much right now). Color - glow chart, blue shad blue, motor oil, black/chart, blue/shad, shad. They will hit any color thrown at them, however some colors are producing a lot more bites than others. You can, and I have, caught fish vertical jigging, however they are eating the jig much better if it is on the move. Good luck and go get some to release in Lake Crisco! The bass fishing has been fantastic - plastics and jigs up in the bushes. Spinnerbaits, cranks and jerkbaits thrown right along the edge of the bushes. Brad

The crappie were on fire this afternoon. My wife had the day off and suggested we go to the lake, no argument here! Fished from 2-5 this afternoon and they wore us out! We caught between 50-60 crappie - could not find anything shallow. The crappie were in 30-40 fow 16-20 feet deep. They were hitting jigs - blue, chart, white, glow chart. We did catch some verticle fishing but casting, counting down and reeling back slow was much better. On a really good note a friend of mine caught a 2.5 lbs giant crappie on Saturday. It was one of the biggest MO crappie I've seen. Beautiful fish, wonderful color and full of eggs. After 20 years of crappie fishing he finally got his wall hanger! She came on a Thinner Minner jig in glow chartreuse. It should continue to get better from here on....... Brad

Let us know how you do - I've heard they have been slaying crappie and whites on Stockton. It will be interesting to see what happens with all the water. Hope to make it out Friday or Saturday and give it a go. Brad

Both arms of the lake, as well as everything in between, has been great. I've been catching crappie anywhere from 2' of water to 40'. It is just a tad early for the spawn, however as the water warms the crappie will make their way shallow for the warmeth if nothing else. There have been a lot of crappie caught shallow late last week, however they forgot to tell you the fish were 2-4' deep just off the river channel which swings next to the bank and the water was 20 feet deep very close. After the water stops rising and begans to stabalize you should be able to rip lips in 12-15 (plus however high the lake rises) fow over brush - start off points from spawning areas. Good luck and let us know how you do. Brad
