  1. found this pic of both bridges.
  2. zeb pike [or the general] N36 37.859 W93 20.146 should put you close. I also found this info on a dive website.capt Don do you get more detail with the 800mhz? I want to get some shots of the bridge next time out,how cool would it be to have divers down there when you are scanning .I think you could still stay at a safe distance from the divers with the side scan.
  3. 113 the wreck of the Zebulon Pike ,west of point 1 in about 80 f.o.w.It took about 45 mins of idling around but I spotted her right about dark. Now that I know where she is I will try to get some better angles next time out. 114 main lake cut with fish in it ,I know for sure one was a 2 lb k. 115 A school of white bass near Shell Knob, caught several dropping spoons. 116 another view of same
  4. Capt Joe,sir. The noise I speak of is the electronic whirring when the shaft is rotated .It may just be in my head but when I fish shallow I try to go stealth. No jumping around in the boat, keep your voice down,no slamming rod lockers, etc. Seems like they could hear this noise if there is no other noise to hear. This is really a very small percentage of my fishing time. Fish that are 10 ft or more, fish that hang near docks or bridges, main lake fish probably doesnt matter. The I pilot is cool but an extra $400 is a little steep.I hope the guys at humminbird and lowrance are working on a program that will allow the trolling motor to talk to your GPS, the technology is here .I have already spent enough on a motor and electronics. I would rather have a new rod or reel.
  5. capt joe,I have a Terrova auto pilot 24v 80lb with the wireless remote. I find that I use both the pedal and the remote in conjunction .I like the auto pilot for deeper fishing you can point it into the breeze and stay on a spot pretty easy. Some times I will fish out of the back of the boat and let my friends have the front and I can still control the boat. When spring comes and I go more shallow I put my old Motorguide back on . Seems like it is much quieter than the powerdrive. With the powerdrive some of the body of the trolling motor extends past the bow of your boat even when the motor is up, you have to watch not to smash it into docks. My road cover would not fit after i put the Minnkota on. My solution for these problems was a removeable mount that slides back off a plate that mounts to the boat. The plate stays on the boat so I can switch out the motors in a matter of minutes. The universal sonar in the minnkota has worked perfectly with my lowrance 520. I have never had any kind of motor interference,if a transducer burns out it is replaceable. A couple of minor oversights on Minkota's part 1.no light on the trolling motor head to show your direction at night. The LEDs that indicate constant on and auto are super bright with no way to dim or turn off.All this said I really like the new pedal WAY better than the older one. The minnkota is great in high wind you dont have to stay stuck to the pedal .I dont have any experience with the gps version but i figured it was just a matter of time. Soon you will be able to sync your motor with your electronics .I hope this helps in some way.
  6. dont forget your spinnerbaits. 1/2 oz war eagle tandem willow in blue herring is a good place to start. you can get into em pretty good if the conditions are right.Lunker time.
  7. dont take this as law,but I think any road that was public before the lake was flooded is still public .If a new subdivision has built a new ramp it is probably private. It seems as if I have seen both while fishing on Tablerock.Over on Beaver rt 264 goes right into the lake out by Hickory creek park and is a popular put in. If my memory is correct I think you drive right past the entrance of the park to get there. In any case if it is a private launch it should be clearly posted. This is an interesting question ,Im sure we will get the correct answer from one of our more knowlegable members.
  8. Jeb, The settings on my 997 are as follows DI beam wide DI sens 12-14 SI freq.455khz SI sens 11 SI enhance sens.11,contrast 13,sharpness off switchfire clear sonar beam 200/83khz [ 83khz sens 3] bottomview - structure id surface clutter 7 chart speed 5 low range- auto these are the settings on my unit right now. I have a 12volt source [fused 3amp] in the house so I dont have to sit in my boat to review my day on the water. Make sure you have the right transducer selected ,it should say on the bottom of the box if you still have it.It took a little tweeking to get the transducer mounted at the right angle to the water[lake bed] make sure the trans. is parallel to the water line on your boat My champ 196 sits bow high on the trailer, this made a big difference .Try to keep your boat travelling in a straight line using your compass bearing. It also seems to make a difference how my out board is trimmed. These things are remarkably sensitive make small adjustments. My guess is a transducer problem because i dont really have to change settings on the 997 to get a good sounding. If you want to see some really cool SI images go to www.xumba.scholleco.com .It is a humminbird forum and there are pics people send in from all over the world ,shipwrecks etc. I hope this will help and good luck out there.
  9. Here are some more pics from Table Rock.I will try to keep them in order with description of each. 86 Shell Knob bridge, parallel with roadway 87 deep abutment in main channel 88 idling into Mill creek around third point 89 Mill Creek 90 bait ball 91 more bait 92 farther back Mill creek nice rock pile on left 93 SI view of same hump 94 old foundation?near old creek bed 95 triple view of old creek channel 97 down view of same 100 secondary creek channel in way back in mill 101 mill creek with waypoints of previous pics 102 west side near the mouth of the Kings old creek cuts 103 deep bridge with waypoints of earlier pics I hope thats not to much, good luck out there , I hope this helps.
  10. 38 feet of water is the bridge abutment at shell knob on south end .you can clearly see a rock pile at the end of it .I know a lot of guys catch fish here. I guess most of my settings are right about midrange.I think boat speed is important to detail . my boat idles at 3mph +or-. I also had to fine tune the placement of the transducer,so the unit would shoot clear of the motor to both sides.I like the triple screen because you can compare the soundings for a much better idea of what is really down there. The side scan will show you if the fish you spot are to the left of right. The downscan and regular sonar work well together .In open water you can easily see large arches, compare to the down and side views and you can get a pretty good idea of which side of the boat they are on. The Free download was way more than I expected , it is very helpful. The SI enhance helps with detail also .All that said I couldnt be happier with the 997.Make sure you get a SD card so you can record and go back later and look for structure that you never knew was there, make waypoints and check them next time you go out. This thing has been a big help for deep water fishing in winter and summer. Caught all my fish today on countdowns all k's with four good keepers.Hope this helps,Good luck out there.
  11. sorry I guess I didnt attach properly
  12. these were taken in the shellknob area east of the bridge on north side.
  13. i knew you guys were sensitive. real easy to call some one "nancy boy"when you are not face to face. Funny how the internet makes tough guys .I have been out of the house every day WORKING you shuold try it ,you can get ahead in life.
  14. you are entirely correct, i try not to watch crap on tv either, gets my panties in a wad, very uncomfortable.
  15. you mean like ripping fish off spawning beds? It is illegal in many states ,so spawning bass should not be included in record books either.
  16. ?????? I thought this was Ozark ANGLERS ?Catch some fish and then give us a report
  17. have to agree with edwin, fished em both doesnt seem to matter .sounds like the lure is catching the fisherman.
  18. wow! I never thought I would be looking forward to "ice out" since I moved south. When was the last time this happened and how will it affect the fishing?
  19. I once had a truck with transmission problems . The dealer wouldnot cover the repairs even though the warranty was not up. It was real close maybe 5000 miles or less. They said that since I had "negleted" proper maintenance they could in no way repair my truck . Needless to say I was mad as a hornet. My wife wanted to get a lawyer as a new tranny was pushing 4k. We took the truck to a different dealer ,across the state line and the service manager drove it around the block and before we got back he was asking when I could leave the truck for repair. I guess what Im saying is all dealers are not the same some are great some fair and some fail.If the problem with your motor is covered by your warranty you should be ok .Good luck and be persitent.
  20. best advice ive seen here yet.If the weather is nice the lake will resemble a flotilla. Good Luck.

  22. Im not sure how they can justify 70 grand for a bass boat thats more money than the materials to build my own house.Even ifthe motor was 25 thousand add top of the line electronics[that will become obsolete] say 3000 ,and a good trolling motor say 2000 that leaves $40k for a hull and trailer .Sure they might tweak hull designs with computers but the manufacturing process is basically the same as it was 30 years ago.Capt. Don is right, the fish dont care what your boat looks like,or how fast it goes. The biggest fish I ever caught was from shore any way.
  23. Why arent you running yamaha oil? Is the quicksilver cheaper or rated better.I get a little nervous when I see posts about blown engines. My 03 HPDI has prefomed flawlessly so far.If you are buying gas in MO install a 10 micron water seperating filter to help counter the effects of ethanol.A little Ringfree in the fuel wont hurt either
  24. Is this common for Merc EFI? was it the same problem or a different cause. Seems that a rebuild every couple of years is a little extreme to me.
  25. Painter, good luck to you.I hope you have tons of fun .You are right, good luck comes from doing whats right, sort of a karma thing. Take some pics if you get any ,always enjoy pics of fish caught .
