  1. Do you ever fish a Charlie Brewer "slider" 4inch pearl grub? Without a doubt it's one of the best river baits there is for the Osage!
  2. The bass I have been catching this year are PIGS!
  3. Heck, the less fancy the boat the better!
  4. I appreciate the offer. I will take you up on it if it all works out this week. I just don't know what day I can go down yet.
  5. That's GREAT to hear about the black bass! They sure are a LOT more fun to catch than eat! Now catfish, whites, and crappie are perfect to release into a pot of oil! I haven't been down there, but I hear very good things about the creek. I am going to try my best to get down this week some time.
  6. Nice pics! Remember the bass have to be released in the rivers before Memorial Day. I don't know if that's what you meant when you said the spoons were released or not. I just want to make sure you don't get in trouble next spring. Tight Lines.
  7. Nice fish. Next time try throwing a white (silver) bomber fat free shad (you can buy them at Walmart) or a Rapala shad rap along the VFW side when the water is running. Following the bank (a cast away) all the way down to the bridge and you will catch a fish (or several!!!) every drift. Tight lines.
  8. Thanks. I saw they shut the gates, but I am hoping they open them back up. Be careful in the heat............ Stick with it... you WILL get in to the cats down there. I have simply caught too many fish down there not to belive in the spot.
  9. LMAO
  10. Check out the maps Lilley has put on the Table Rock forum. In terms of crappie, I haven't had much luck right by Indian Point. In fact, I don't think I have ever landed a crappie right around I.P. in almost twenty years of fishing there. However, Long creek has a bunch of them and Cape Fair has even more. Cape Fair is a LONG boat ride from I.P. so I would recommend trailering the boat. You can get minnows at Table Rock Bait and Tackle on hwy 13 going towards Kimberling City. I'm down DD highway which is really close to I.P. by water, but 45 mins. away by land. Hopefully someone down the other side of the lake will know of a closer bait shop.
  11. I don't know about below the dam. Check the regs. on the james river.
  12. Sweet! Welcome! Thanks for the recent report.
  13. Glad I talk you guys into it. Around July the bass will most definitely be on a soft plastic bite. Trolling shad raps around islands off the main channel will pick crappie, white, and wipers. Truman is a great lake to fish, however not a lot of guys on the forum fish it or write about it.
  14. I would check Craig's list. Small boat don't really wear out and the small leaks are really easy to fix. Now for the motor.......... expect to spend $1000 alone on a motor. 6 Hp is the max you can use at lake Springfield so I wouldn't buy anything bigger.
  15. Bagnell is the first turn off to the west as you go over the river on hwy 54. You can't miss it, just follow your eyes towards the dam. There is a big double MDC ramp there.
  16. Try near the back of a cove with a creek flowing into it.
  17. I called them this morning also, but I think the gates are still closed as the USGS site is not showing floodgate levels. http://waterdata.usgs.gov/mo/nwis/current?..._no_station_nm=
  18. Are the gates still open? I was there on Sat. and they were closed.
  19. Great report! Thanks! Cricket, try throwing a big spook around brush one night when the moon is really bright. The bass will come up and knock the HECK out of it! When I lived in Colorado we use to throw topwater mouse patterns for big browns when the moon was up............. talk about a blast!
  20. Don't get me wrong, my family owns a lot of land and I support landowners' rights, but having a dog that will bite people is just plain stupid. The law is WELL settled that you can't use deadly force against some for trespassing (outside of the home) and having a vicious dog is the functional equivalent of land mining your property. A vicious dog doesn't care if it bites a child or a thief. If you read the CCW post on this forum, you will see that dogs are one of the main reasons people chose to carry.
  21. If you are staying in Lake Ozark. I would give some serious consideration to fishing below Bagnell. If the water is running (which it should be in July when all the A/C's kick on ) you can catch piles of everything down there. Last week I land over 25 black bass in 3 three hours, while I was fishing for whites (which I got a pile of also). It's not a "little river" by any means, any LOZ fishing boat will work on the river. I have landed tons of bass 3lb.+ out of the river. In fact, I think it fishes better the LOZ MOST of the time. Oh....................... I forgot about the crappie.............................. TONS of them in the Osage.
  22. I use vanish #6 or my Table Rock rig which has #8 Vanish on it. It just depends on the size of the stream. On the James I like to use 8#.
  23. Where are you staying.....? What type of boat do you have? The general rule is that you need to be off the water by 10am at LOZ in the summer or you will in the deep brown stuff when the big boats come out to play. If you have the time, I would recommend going to Truman, Pomme de Terre, or even below the dam at Bagnell rather than fishing on LOZ. The big boats have essentially ruined the lake fishing in the summer, but night time can produce some good bites. Try black spinner-baits in the timber or soft plastics (when you are here black and blue crawdad imitations will work well) around the docks with bright lights. Again, I think the lack of response is due to the fact most of us don't dare brave the zoo up at LOZ in the summer. Also if you have never fished at LOZ before, you really need to hire a guide. No Joking, hire a guide the fishing can be very very difficult in the middle of the summer as the fish suspend and most people are not use to fishing our deep lakes.
