  1. I like to grin and let it be also............most of the time (see Bagnell posts). Tight lines!
  2. I don't eat many, but I think the grays taste better. Anyone else feel the same way? My gun of choice is a .410 with #6 shot.
  3. No one deserves to get yelled at like that unless they truly deserve it. My general rule of tumb is that if I can cast into your boat, you are too close. The polite way to tell someone they are too close is to cast a lure about 10 feet from their boat, not chase and yell at them. Tight Lines.
  4. I think you have to be below the bridge to purposefully snag anything. Good luck, I don't know if I am heading down on Sat. or Sunday. I will let you know.
  5. On Monday I got three drum over 8lbs.! The biggest drum I have ever seen!
  6. I got my largest one right at the boat ramp in October. Bagnell simply doesn't have the high number of large cats as Warsaw. Most cats out of Bagnell average 2lbs. The pic is from the fall. Ps. just got back from Bagell........... the fish is ok/good. Not like last weekend, but worth going.
  7. I'm in a boat about half the time. The last two weeks I have only been fishing from the shore.
  8. I'm look for a trailer for my duck boat. It's 14 foot long and 36 inches (I think) wide. Let me know if you have anything sitting around that would work. New trailers are around $750 so I am looking to pay well less for a used one. Thanks.
  9. Well I finally figured out how to get some pictures off of my phone. These are from Bagnell on Sunday.
  10. Yeah it's fun way to catch gar. Also you can use a really small hook and just let them swallow it.
  11. The water is stained/ muddy.
  12. Are you in a boat? There are millions of small shad holding against the wall on the north side of the river. This is where I got the big hybrid last Friday. I would bounce some shad on the bottom all the way back down to the ramp. I did this for a hour on Monday after the white bass fishing slowed down and it produced some HUGE fish. I landed the 4 biggest drum of my life and also got some monster black bass. Broke off a couple times on some monsters (maybe gar).
  13. Go to Warsaw (90 miles from Springfield) and put the boat in below the Truman Dam (in Lake of the Ozarks). Catch some fresh shad up by the dam and cut the gut pockets out of them. Bounce them on the bottom (use as little weight as possible) for the first 1/4 mile below the no boating zoning. Try to go when they are generating power (running water). This section has some of the best catfishing in the U.S.A.
  14. Thanks. It looks like it might be a few more days untill they pick back up.
  15. Anyone have an update on the fishing? I have gone the last four days, but skipped today.
  16. Just got back. The flood gates were shut down. The fishing was fair, but not nearly as good as the other days.
  17. I got a 13.8 lbs. one last Friday! I also saw a few guys with some. My rods are loaded with ten pound vanish so I certainly could have hooked into a few and chalked them up as spoonbill break offs! I'm leaving in ten mins. to go back down. I will report when I get back.
  18. I'm heading down this afternoon. I will be the 25 year old, 5'9" guy in a Browning Buckmark hat. Say hello if you see me down there.
  19. I went over the dam today. The water looks like strong brewed tea. On the bright side, the fishing is good!
  20. The only problem is that the spoonbill are so thick that it costs almost $30 in Rapalas every trip! I used a pearl slider and that worked well. However, the crank-bait bite was strong so I stuck with it.
  21. Left Columbia at 7 am. Bagnell by 8:15. Fished the the floodgate side and landed 6 black bass over 4 lbs. (all released)! Landed another 20+ black bass around 15 inches in the 3 hours I fished. I had 3 spoonbill (released), ten whites, and 1 crappie to go with it. My buddy got ten whites, a crappie, and several black bass. To the gentleman who fished two feet from me when the WHOLE bank was open.... thanks.........you truly are a huge #$%#. The example you set for your kids is gross and I would have helped your kids catch fish if you had not told me that " You aren't forcing me out" when I asked you to give me enough room to cast my baitcasting rod. Is a hook in the eye worth it? You caught 2 fish in 3 hours... I got close to 50............ it's not the spot buddy! It's you! Tight lines. See you all down there tomorrow.
  22. I smoked the white bass today boys. Rapala glassrap ShadRap thown along the break in the current on the flood gate side. Landed over 30, left with a great limit. I saw lots of people catching cats also. Going back in the morning.
  23. I'm thinking about heading down today. Anyone want to meet up?
  24. I just got back from Bagnell. The water is still running, but the fishing was really slow. I only got three fish (a small white, a crappie, and a drum) in 2 hours.
  25. I fished Friday morning and left with a limit of whites and one ten inch crappie. The kicker of the day was the 13.8 lb. hybrid I landed on a #6 gold hook! Overall the fishing for white bass is very good. The spoonbill are really thick up by the dam.
