  1. Not trying to hijack your question but thought I would comment on the "cold snap" that we are currently enduring. Mid week it was -24 to -40 degrees in our area with a wind chill pushing past -50. We also received 10+ inches of new snow. Today my son and grandsons (5 and 7) thought we would try ice fishing because the temp had jumped up to 24 degrees and it felt great out. Well we made it out on the ice when all of a sudden the wind picked up (gusting to 40 mph) and the snow was blowing into white out conditions. Well we drilled our holes anyway through 25+ inches of ice. We tried putting up the ice house for the boys but it blew across the ice along with the boys. Dropped the Vex's down the holes but couldn't mark any fish. At that point we packed it in and went home. I really enjoy reading about your fishing trips on the Rock during the winter. It helps me get through these long cold days/months until I can come down to the lake in the spring. Hersh
  2. Bill, you don't have to apologize. You were more civil than I would have been in your response. It seems these types are everywhere, while out on a lake one day I had a guy ask me to give him the lure I was catching bass on so he could catch a fish too. If he would have asked me "how" instead of demanding I give him I would have been happy to show him how to.
  3. Had the same thing happen to me on the Rock two years ago. Aunts Creek arm eleven boats were stolen from their slips and broken into. My Ranger was broken into causing 2 grand in damage to the boat. Sad part was the rod lockers and front compartments I had removed everything because of this problem. All the jerks had to do was open the lids instead they used a pry bar.
  4. Just wanted to say a "Hello" to everyone here. Been visiting this site and decided to become a member today. I live in east central Iowa and fish for Smallies from Northern Minnesota to Nothern Arkansas. Run a Ranger/Opti for the larger lakes, a Lowe RoughNeck/Mercury for rivers and for the small rivers in the northeast part of Iowa I run a Mokia Jet boat. My wife and I were lucky enough to get early retirement so we spend four to six weeks at Table Rock Lake each spring and fall. Mid summer we go to northern Minnesota and stay with a buddy of mine at his lake home. We have to say our favorite area is the Kimberling City location. We stay on the Aunts Creek arm and I fish the James River part of the lake. Right now here in Iowa we have hard water. Cut a few holes last night, had 6" of ice, but only two Blue Gills to show for it. Normally we would have 20 plus inches of ice this time of year. It's been a strange winter for us. Again just wanted to say hello to everyone. Hersh
