Wow....big spread on line from 10# mono to 30# braid. I was leaning towards trying braid. Thanks for the input.
-
Redfin question for everyone - What line are you throwing it on?
-
A spook, red fin, and chug bug are good top water options. I have not had much success on a buzzbait except up the river arms.

Gitnby covered it pretty good. It will likely be a zoo on the main lake and not much better in Indian. If I was coming down cold and didn't read a report from now to until then I would probably be on the water at dark o'clock and try to find a topwater bite. After that I would swim a grub where fish would stage going into or out of spawning areas and work back towards the pockets to see where I hit the fish. I would probably be off the water by 11 and go have lunch and a nap. Wait until the crowd thins and go back out and pick back up where I left off for an afternoon session. Fish into dark and switch to a black spinner bait, chugger, and a 10" worm when it is full dark. Keep up on the reports and you should be able to get on fish.

Whack a cast, doubles, followers. A bare hook probably would have got it done today. Put in at 2:30, fish on by 2:35. We didn't go sight fishing although I did notice some beds. We stayed in front of the pockets and had the best luck where there was some sort of transition. Gravel to ledgy stuff was the best, but it was all pretty good. Docks close by didn't hurt although we didn't target them specifically. Split shot with Fish Dr. size baits out fished the senko size stuff. Fluke worked and would have tore it up if I really hammered the pockets. I pitched a lizard to a bit of wood and scored a decent black. Colors were typical stuff....watermelon with your choice of glitter, green pumpkin, white fluke. I fished stuff with the wind on it and never went to the other side to see if there was any difference. Too hard to leave fish to go mess around. If you want to take a kid fishing and catch a bunch with a decent shot of keepers GO NOW! ETA.....water temp 60.7

I'm going with this. There may be a few back off, but I doubt it. I'll find out tomorrow afternoon. Going to start off in the spawning areas and work my way out if I don't find them.
-
They work. C rig, shakey head, split shot. Play around with it and see what works. Try wacky rigging it and throw into a spawning pocket.
-
If it invovled a roll of carpet, a shovel, and a trip to the woods he may not want to share that info.

The middle long creek map in the map section covers the area I fished to a 'T'. The areas I fished were pretty compact, if I caught one there were more, and they were stacked pretty good.

I put in Friday 4-11 about 10AM and had two keepers by 10:30 wiggle wart, inside of points, bigger stuff or ledgy stuff to gravel transition with a very few on just the gravely stuff, with wind. That pretty much repeated itself wherever I went. I messed around with the A rig, but haven't figured it out enough to feel good about it so I just stuck with the wart. 8 keeps and a bunch of mixed shorts by 3PM. Saturday 4-12 got out about close to 10AM again, man I like the leisurly hours and eating breakfast. My partner got on a split shot bite behind me, considering he is my son and 8 he was still trying to figure out the feel of getting bit, but he did put fish in the boat. Locations were the same. I did catch my first A rig fish, but just the one. Wart fished the same as the previous day, but I was spending more time coaching than fishing. Sunday 4-13 only things tied on were warts and split shot rigs. 5 keeps, lots of shorts. Takeaway....the fish were grouped on the transition from bigger stuff to gravel, just inside of points, needed wind, catch one keep throwing at it. Snot moss was just starting to show in the areas I fished. I could not buy a grub bite.

Will the rig work with other plastics or only the zman type?

Post Something You Learned From The Pro's Last Week
MOBass replied to Bill Babler's topic in Table Rock Lake
Don't be afraid to experiment. I have thought about some of the stuff I saw the pros doing, but never pulled the trigger and tried it. Change from a curl tail grub to a swimbait type body and fish it shallower. Swim a bait like a jig/twintail. Overall I would say my big take away is there are fish shallower than i would have expected. I did see some areas I fish and the pros were doing the same thing I would do there, just a lot more efficiently and thorughly. I'll try to put some of this to use and see what I can get to work over the weekend. -
Elite Series- Post Updates, Pics And Comments Here!
MOBass replied to gitnby's topic in Table Rock Lake
I am wondering about this as well. I just saw another picture with that area in it. It's pretty neat to look at the photos and be able to identify areas. -
C.A.S.T. has done some event for Camp Barnabus in the past. Big Cedar Lodge has provided pontoon boats, marina facilities, and lunch at the confernce center. It's been a couple of years since I have helped with one. Seeing how happy the kids are fishing and knowing all the stuff they are up against....I had to wear my sunglasses through lunch so they wouldn't see me tearing up. E.T.A.- If you come up with an event let me know. I would like to help and could probably get some help from a youth group I am invovled with to logistical stuff like putting together goodie bags, lunches, or something.

Going to have marininated chicken wings and hopefully some buffalo chicken dip. I'll be down there until about 1:30 or so.
-
I'm in. I will probably bring buffalo chicken dip, crackers, and maybe something else.
-
If I find them I'll post them here. I know that the last check was 10 something, but didn't pay much attention after I heard the 10. Do you know where the results are posted? We left early and weighed in 10.21.... didn't think it had a chance because of several bigger bags weighed in. Thanks

I fished Indian yesterday, as well as Kimberling, and Baxter. Early in the day I had the boat in 30' and counted the grub down 10 sec. By the end of the day I was in 17' and started swimming it straight away. All smallmouth and I really needed a bighead. Secondary points, with wind, and a little timber worked. All I caught in the pockets were shorts and did not see any bed fish.
-
I fished a little charity tournament today out of Baxter. 14 and change to win, big bass over 7, and 10 and change to cash a check, we had the crying spot with a limit of smallmouth 9.84#. What we did for what it is worth.... 4" smoke/copper flake grub, 1/4 oz head, secondary points, with a little wind exposure, and wood. We caught a bunch of fish from short spots and smallies to monster goggle eyes along with the five keepers. Boat started in 30' and we worked in as the day progressed. I wish we could have found some big heads, but it was a still a fun day on the water. If anyone wants more detail just ask.
-
I am going to start out and work in. Find something close to the bedroom, park the boat over a little water, and swim a grub or shake a head. As the day gets on I am going to work my way in. I'll check some pockets for visible stuff to, but really have more faith on catching some pre/post fish just a bit back from the bedroom. I am even going to run a bank or two with a blade and a crank because I like to just to see if I can stir some up. Tomorrow I'll fish Baxter, Kimberling, Joe Bald, maybe Aunts. If I don't get any love then Indian Point here I come Sunday AM!
-
I tow mine with a Taco. So we don't have to go down the Ford vs. Chevy path at least. All boats are a hole in the water to toss money into. Most any owner has a love/hate relationship with their rig at some point. I'll watch the purse swining threads with much amusement, but stick to posting fishing stuff.
-
We need a good general forum to contain the purse swinging in. Have a pig pen to smack talk tackle, boats, ect....Set some defined rules like no personal attacks and direct those post there and away from the lake forums. I come here to discuss tackle and tactics for Table Rock, read up on what is being caught, and keep up with what is going or with regulations. I could care less what brand someone rod or reel someone owns, what boat they drive, what truck they pull it with. We are all fisherman, have our own quirks, and if we set our preconcieved notions aside can learn a little from each other. So now lets get on topic....I am going fishing this weekend. Tomorrow I am heading down after breakfast to do a little pre fish around Baxter, 13, Mill Creek, Fisher, and maybe up to Aunts. If I strike out I am running to Indian Sunday morning with a wing and prayer. My partner is going to hole up and stay warm in the morning, one of us has to be the sane one I guess. I'll be swimming/scrubbing a grub, dragging a shakey head, tossing a fluke into pockets, and probably run a bank or two with a crank and blade for giggles. If you see a lone wolf in a white Nitro 882 tomorrow idle up and say hello and swap stories with me.

Put me down for buffalo chicken dip and crackers. I may try to smuggle some other stuff out of the house from the wife's baking.

I'm in! That last one I went to was pretty epic. Lots of tasty goodies and good people.
