  1. I guess I should read my posts before I send. The temp on the Sac was 55 not 51.
  2. Shaker, what time did yo leave Friday, We were down on the Sac in the evening. We got into a few good whites below the launch then spot checked some places up stream. Tried about 5 to 6 spots up to about the shallow bar below buaaard bluff with no luck. On the way back we went back below the bridge and just killed the whites for about 1 hour right before dark. Big sows mixed in with about a million drum. My partner went back this morning and only caught small males with just a fewgood fish. Thought we had something but I guess not. with the water this high I don't know what to think but it feel's like something should break open any day.. Temp Friday was 49 at Warsaw and 51 on the Sac but my buddy says they opened the flood gates at Truman ant the surf temp is now up to 55 below the dam. Keep posting we'll find them sooner or later.
  3. No, I'm from south KC area My son goes to Iowa School of Pharmacy. You just look for the fat guy in bibs. I don,t just fish up by the dam but I will be around Warsaw somewhere.
  4. Shaker, By your directions can I assume you are in a jet boat?
  5. shaker, I don't plan to be up that way for a while yet. We've been hitting the Warsaw area for the last 2 weeks and as long as we keep catching walleyes we will be in that area. When we get there, I,m pretty easy to spot. I have a tan Xpress with a 90 Merc. I will be the fat guy in front with a grey beard, overalls and a grey Iowa hat. Will be throwing to a bank somewhere with a jig. We go down a lot this time of year or go up around the first island.
  6. Shaker, Thanks for the poast. I love to fish the lower Sac too but there never seems to be much posted. It can be so hot and cold I find it easy to waste a lot of time and gas when nothing is going on. Sounds like you like to fish like you fish like we do lots of wood. Has there been any current? Nothing comming from Stockton it seems, but in the spring that is not always critical. I can't remember a cave. How far up is it? I very seldom go above the high bluff on the left with a house on the upper end. do I need to go on up?
  7. Brownieman, Not sure what you mean about spooling up with the heavy stuff. We caught everything on 1/8oz jigs and 6lb test. In a boat I don't usually too heavy of tackle.
  8. We have been down a couple of times the last 10 days. One evening we caught 4 eyes all keepers 3 males and 1 female about 4 pounds. Most on low current on no current. On the west bank you just find a place you can minimize the snags. Usually get the eyes about half way in and the whites and hybrids farther out but not always. We have also been catching a few med sized hybrids mixed with a few whites. The largest have been 4-5 pounds but I have seen some 10 to 12 pounders. Went down in the boat last Friday evening and had 4 eyes with about 12-15 whites all on grubs. Just have to stay at it. Figure out something that works for you and stay with it. I like a 1/8 oz white grub with chartruese tail but will change to black at dusk. Good luck
  9. we have been down to Warsaw twice this week. The corps has started running quite a bit of water this week so the run can't be too far off. The water temp is up to about 47 degrees at this time. i am not seeing a lot of fish at the ramp but we fish at nite mostly and don't find that it means much. Running at night can be a little exciting especially with all the foam on the surface so we haven't been down too far below 65 bridge but we are seeing quite a few more fish on the graph than we were 2 weeks ago. I would like to know if anyone does any good this weekend. So far we have been getting 1-2 fish each trip but ony fishing one rod in this current makes the catch rate fall off quite a bit.
  10. I will try this again... went down Tuesday for about 3-4 hours. Looking for walleye I just had my short rods with me and caught 2 nice crappie. I saw several people using long rod who did a lot better. The extra 20 feet of cast really was making a difference. If you don;t fish at the dam very often don't let a little muddy water stop you. The fish being caught Tuesday were at a 10 count even the muddy water. Several people did pretty well on a slip bobber with the depth set as 12 yo 13 ft. There were not a lot of bites but the average crappie was 10 to 12 inches. From what I can tell the walleye are gone but I don't know why, from what I could tall the sows wern't spawned out yet. I had the boat out later this week and the watrer temp is up to about 47 degrees. Does anyone have any ideas on the walleye?
  11. I went down Tuesday afternoon last week to fish below the handicap dock hoping for some waleyes. Fished for about 3 hours with 2 nice crappie using
  12. Well I finally decided to register to the web site. I am not much on posting anything but I have enjoyed this site so much the last 6-8 months that I decided to register. I am a pharmacist in the south Kansas City area and have been fishing for as long as dad would drag me allong. When he wouldn't I would tie a hook to the end of a pole and ride my bike to the park for some perch on grasshoppers. Kind of out grew that now. I like walleye and white bass as a target species but just about anything is ok. I used to live in Branson in the mid 80's and did a lot of trout but kind of lost intrest. Love to fish below Truman and have already had 1 good evening on walleye last Sat. 3 eyes with 1 over24 inches. I like to spoonbill as well out of my boat usually at warsaw or Roscoe. All that being said there is nothing like putting a couple of hundred big whites in the boat. Must close for now but will post later probably on the Truman tailrace topic. spin fisherx
