  1. Good seeing you yesterday. Didn't have as much luck downstream but got a few bigger fish. River is in great shape for the time of year. I noticed a ton of foot prints in the water however. Everyone stills need to be careful of steeping on reds.
  2. I will be on the river as well in the morning. I'll be the guy using way too long of a rod.
  3. Go!! Went yesterday from sun up till about 1 PM when it got too hot! The creek looks great and the fishing was awesome. I was averaging a hookup about every 10 mins at first but as the day went on and it warmed up, the fishing cooled down. I found it doesn't matter so much which flies you use, its all about how you present them. They will try and eat most anything in front of them as long as you and be stealthy. If they know your there you might as well move on. Also yes there are snakes, but that's what you get when your in habitat like Crane. I've only ever seennorther brown water snakes at Crane and I've never been bothered. They like to sun themselves on the banks and branches/roots and line the bank. They blend right in. Funny story time! So after "catching" a tree and being too far up to untangle and unhook I had to break the line. I find a shady spot on the bank and start tying up. I notice a snakes head poking up from the water across the bank and it looked different than any water snake I had seen previously so of course I couldn't just leave it be, I had to go see what kind it was. I walked over and reached out with my rod to see if I could get it to move and get a good look at its body. Well immediately my rod tip catches a root and as I bring it back it the top piece of my $400 4 piece Sage Z axis disconnects and is left sitting inches away from rushing water and inches away from the unknown snake that wasn't even bothered. Having broke the line off there was no line running through the guides, stupid thinking on my part, I got what I deserved. I was still left in a bad situation though, rod tip is still in the roots across 6 feet of deep rushing water, oh and snakes. As I'm sitting there trying to figure out how I'm going to retrieve my rod tip without swimming or falling into a snake pit a 2nd much larger snake slithers out of the root wad to see what's up. Here's a pic highlighting my rod tip below, first snake, which is on the upper right, and the 2nd snake whos head is on the upper left. Turns out it was just a juvenile water snake and its mom I'm guessing. Moral of the story. Leave the snakes alone and they will leave you alone. Try and mess with them and this is what you get.
  4. Perfect for close up video. There's a million different accessories for it too, I just bought a polarized lens cover which should make outdoor shots much better.
  5. GoPro hero 3+ silver
  6. More scared of me than I was of them. Just brown water snakes.
  7. Excellent day. Landed my biggest McCloud yet. Got some pictures of a smaller one.
  8. Saw this guy yesterday. I've got a video closer in too.
  9. Haven't seen any this year but it's only just starting to warm up.
  10. http://www.tulsaworld.com/homepage3/new-pending-state-record-trout-tops-pounds/article_91ffc7f2-6cb1-5875-9bb6-e99f9a7d4407.html Caught on a fly rod
  11. I'm hoping to go early in the morning. Which means I bet they start letting water out right at 6 AM.
  12. Nice, I think I'm going to try and fish it Tuesday, weather and water permitting.
  13. That wat I know what kind of water I'm going to be dealing with this time of year.
  14. Generators are still being serviced for at least a couple weeks. The sluice gate is controling the water.
  15. Jut a heads up. The generation schedule is often wrong. An example is today and yesterday. The schedule says they aren't generating but the water is definatly up and running 2,800 cfps.
  16. Lost my SOG knife along the bank somewhere too. If you find it I'll be your best friend.
  17. I think I was at the middle wire road access most the time. Rained the entire 8 hours I fished. Water looked to be up a bit. Caught a fish on my first cast too which blew my mind. Spent the rest of the time mostly catching trees and bushes. Zebra midges worked at first and then san juan worms was the only thing I could get any action with. Didn't see a single person the entire 8 hours I fished.
  18. Would love to fish this water, (closest wild trout to my house). Just wouldn't want to deal with with the law or landowners.
  19. The only time when its safe or practical to wade fish is at zero generation. Also watch very carefully for rising water when your away from the dam because you will not hear a horn and the water will come up quickly. Its best to stick a stick at the water line and watch for sudden rises. Especially if you've crossed over to the east side. If you get stuck over there its a long walk back and there are no access points over there.
  20. http://www.wildlifedepartment.com/tulsaurbanfisheries.htm I hear good things about Lynn Lane reservoir but I've never fished it.
  21. Is the 2nd picture in Devils Den State park?
  22. I haven't been here for long but enough that I think I can voice my opinion. I think you have a good thing going here, but it could always be better. The forum should always be expanding and trying new things and accommodating the needs of and Ozark fishermen. But you can't forget what makes this forum so special, the people who contribute to it. They contribute to it because its a place they can go to talk local or near by fishing with other folks about the same waters in the same area. I think that you should consider weather this close knit community of fishermen will be the same if its changed too much.
  23. I was talking about the town of Watts near HWY 59
  24. The upper section of the river near Watts has no trout in it. Has plenty of smallmouth though. The lower river below Tenkiller is the place stocked with trout and the place in the pictures.
