    Bass

I have gone thru all my data and I'm stumped... It looks "ALMOST" like a hedon dying flutter, or a wounded spook, or a crazy shad, or and early devil's horse but, no match... The only suggestion that I would have is take it to Bass Pro or Cabela's store and ask there lure expert ???
  16. The older lures that caught fish are very handy on pressured lakes because, the bass see all the "new' lures so offen that they can tell the model number when the lure goes by!!!!
  17. The smaller ( @ 4" ) Devil's Horses were always wood.. Here is the Bass Pro link to the Crazy Shad and the Customer Ratings & Reviews... http://www.basspro.c...uct/61273/79659 Being smaller 3" vs 4" they closer to the current year shad spwan and can be fished like a buzz bait or a wounded ( short stop & go action ) shad... I would keep it handy till the surface temp falls below 52-55 degrees... Great lure when the bass head to the backs of coves to gorge on shad in the fall... Plus, it is a FUN lure to fish.... Just for "GP's' here is a link to a chart of Smithwick prop'd lures... http://www.smithwick...2414&fullsize=1
  18. If you look up the devil's horse FULL OLD line up... They had two that are "fat in the middle" one is a 5" and the other is a 7" both made of wood around the late '50s / early '60s.... It could be a "ASIA" plastic knock-off....... Blue -- how long is the lure and is it plastic or wood ?? If it is plastic -- look real close around the belly for " Cotton Cordell" ...they make the "crazy shad" that is shaped like the lure and are still on the market....
  19. Looks like a "newer" Devel's Horse.... The older one's were wood.... I used to collect them and have always had one tied on in the fall... When the bass start feeding shallow ....
  20. The bass and I have a hard time connecting when the temp is in the triple digits.... The bass will not come into my a/c'd living room !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The last time I was out ( last week of june ) from daybreak till 0900hrs I caught 4 short bass and 3 drum....
  21. I am by NO WAY a crappie expert, but here is what has worked for me... Where to fish? Fish where you have caught fish within the last couple of weeks. Lights? I only use one light and it is the old style ( white ) that hangs down in the water about 10 feet. Drop to the bottom? "Sometimes"... Better bait than minnows? Not unless GOD has made a new critter that I don't know about... In the light or side of the light? Contrary to popular opinion - fish do not slash thru the middle of a school of minnows. The fish lay back and look for a wounded ( easy to catch ) bait fish.. I will try to fish below and to the sides of the main patch of light.. Most of the biggest crappie I have caught were on the opposite side of the boat from the light... But, the opposite side only would have one bite compared to ten bites right next to the light.. Move? Unless you are TOTALLY familiar with the lake (at night ) and were you want to go "NO"..... If I don't have a good swarm of bait within an hour - I will try to move a little deeper or closer to structure close by..... This will give you a starting point and within a few trips you will have it "fine tuned" to where you have more good night trips than *#^%&# night trips... Good luck and let us know how it goes.........
  22. I sent a you a PM with a scan of that part of the lake, showing Shaw Bluff...
  23. There are a LOT of those big perch on stockton.... When I drag a nightcrawler on points for walleye; I will catch 10 of those big perch to one walleye.. They are an aggravation when you are walleye fishing but, they are good when you need fish for supper..... Nice report - - Thanks
  24. This time of year ( HOT water temps ) the Zaraspook will give you a lot action early and late but, mostly 10-12 inch fish... After the first MAJOR cold front - "OMG" ... the bass just can't stand that spook sach-shaying acorss the water.....
  25. Good to hear all went well ( except the fish didn't cooperate )... Sorry I miss it !!!!!
