Yes, I got it in Sept of 98... It is the 99 model with a serial number of -07..... I have owned 3 rangers but, this is the first that was new... It makes a great Stockton boat !!! High sides and 47 gals of fuel in the nose of the boat, allows you to cut the white caps without needing a seatbelt and you stay DRY !!!!!!!!

I hope to be on Stockton Tues. and/or Wed............... 99 Ranger 692(white, blue & red) with 175 Merc. ( minus the dog and wife )

Which Is Used More For Spawn Minnows Or Plastics
zarraspook replied to fishbait3's topic in Stockton Lake
I carry both and let the crappie tell me which they want that day................................ -
If you are on hwy 54 and sac arm ... you are looking at part of Truman lake... As the crow flies, Stockton is 15-17 miles south.... This time of year (when you see vehicles on the side of the road ) it could be either fisherman or mushrooners !!!!! Your best bet is to just walk down to the creek ( if they are fishing, there will be a WELL worn path ).......

I am not sure if they are still in going but there was a "Willard Bass Club" that fish only on Stockton ... Below is a link to a '08 tournament report... It has a "email the author" link ... He might be able to give you some contacts / help.... http://www.conservat...sp?TournID=3207

Sorry, I forgot the water stats... Visibility 18-20 inches and temp fairly constant 48.5-50 degrees....
-
Two of us fished from 0800-1300 hours... Fished from Greaser Creek to Chicken Rock.... Fished 10-30 foot of water.... Throwed Rouges, Warts, Spoons, Little Georges, Spinner Baits, Pig & Jig, Plastic Worms, and Plastic Lizards.... Had two hits on the Lizard and put one in the boat = 14 inches.... I believe if the front had not already came thru and the wind had not been 20+ mph out of the north... We would have done much better......

Now that you have the carbs off.... Check the REED valves !!! If they are cracked, broken, or leaking; they will allow back presser into the carbs... and the gas will not be sucked into the bowl... But, if your lines are free (not pluged or collapsed) and the reed valves are OK the it has to be the needle valve / float assy. or leaking gaskets.....

Before you get in too deep.... Have you tried a can of "Seafoam" or the new "Sta-bil" green (for the Aliki gas)??? I have a 98 MERC 175 and it didn't seen to have the "giddy-up-go" it used to and I ran a tank of gas with the amount recomended for storage, of Sta-bil green and at about a half-a-tank... The old Merc took off and sounded like it did when it was new.......... I have added it every tank since...... (no I don't own stock in Sta-bil !!! )

I didn't really want to start a who's the best store but, I vote with most of the comments about using "Hook Line & Sinker" when I am in the Rogers area....

They sell gas there, make great burgers and have storage in the back. I could really use that name and I will then call them." The name of the store is COUNTRY DEPOT... There number is 417-995-2811....

First... you need a map of the lake, to look up where the information on this board is talking about and know where you are on the lake ..... Second... with novice fisherpersons I.E. child and wife; you can't go wrong with live bait... Night crawlers = catfish, bluegill, walleye.... MINNOWS = anything and everything !!!!;; mostly crappie & white bass...plus any other fish that is hungry ..... Third... as for gear.... a couple of $ 19.95 push button rod/reel sets will work great for live bait and are very easy for beginners .... Fourth... read back thru this board for ideas .... I.E. places, time of day, time of year, weather, depth ( MOST IMPORTANT !!!!! )...... Fifth..... Get on the water and fish.... keeping your map handy and a small note book to record the above information, when you catch fish ..... Sixth.... Make many sacrifices to MOTHER NATURE ...or what ever it takes to get on her good side !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sound like you already have a couple of good fishing pardners, just make sure they don't get discouraged the first few times out and you will have them for life.... ( my wife is my fishing pardner (30 years) and has fish bass tournaments with me ) Good luck and read back thru this board and the Pomme board for ideas......

BRASS contains LEAD... as stated and banned by the state of California.... the following is from Wikipedia... By definition brass will ( as made/used today ) will be banned !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lead content To enhance the machinability of brass, lead is often added in concentrations of around 2%. Since lead has a lower melting point than the other constituents of the brass, it tends to migrate towards the grain boundaries in the form of globules as it cools from casting. The pattern the globules form on the surface of the brass increases the available lead surface area which in turn affects the degree of leaching. In addition, cutting operations can smear the lead globules over the surface. These effects can lead to significant lead leaching from brasses of comparatively low lead content.[13] Silicon is an alternative to lead; however, when silicon is used in a brass alloy, the scrap must never be mixed with leaded brass scrap because of contamination and safety problems.[14] In October 1999 the California State Attorney General sued 13 key manufacturers and distributors over lead content. In laboratory tests, state researchers found the average brass key, new or old, exceeded the California Proposition 65 limits by an average factor of 19, assuming handling twice a day.[15] In April 2001 manufacturers agreed to reduce lead content to 1.5%, or face a requirement to warn consumers about lead content. Keys plated with other metals are not affected by the settlement, and may continue to use high lead content alloys.[16][17] Also in California, lead-free materials must be used for "each component that comes into contact with the wetted surface of pipes and pipe fittings, plumbing fittings and fixtures." On January 1, 2010, the maximum amount of lead in "lead-free brass" in California was reduced an order of magnitude from 4% to 0.25% lead. The common practice of using pipes for electrical grounding is discouraged, as it accelerates lead corrosion.[18][19]

HEY........... Fellows ,, I think you are missing the ORIGNAL point.... If they ( who ever is in charge ) ban lead in ALL fishing tackle - - it's not just "split shot" ...It is spinner baits, weighted hard bait ( 99% of them have some kind of balance / rattle weights in them ), spoons, reels, rods, dip-nets, buoy markers, aerators for bait tanks, and of course jig heads & weights..... The point is too many people , with too much money and to much time, are trying to tell us (working people ) how to live our lives... So, if you are willing to let them run your life - - Keep talking about it on this board ..... If you want to stop them ..... Write a letter, send an Email, or contact your congressman !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
