  1. Here, but wishin' I was fishin.
  2. My unreliable fishin' buddy and I fished up from Wenkel 4 weeks ago. The Water was low and we dragged more than we paddled. The problem was we had to drag back dowstream when it was time to go. But the Smallmouth and goggle eye were very aggressive. They hit everything we threw: beetle spins, soft plastic worms and craws, curlytail jigs and 3-4"cranks in minnow and craw patterns. Probably caught 35 fish in 4.5 hrs, largest smallie 2.5lbs, and goggleye 10". If it were me I'd go down from Wenkel, but you will be dragging there too. Good luck and enjoy. PS the Meramec is good, but it sounds like you want and need some solitude and that is what you get on the Bourbeuse.
  3. abkeenan, The stretch fro Castlwood to Valley Park has some good Kentucky's. I haven't had a lot of luck with smallies. I throw white and chartruese spinners and stickbaits. The water is always murky. You will end up paddling alot as the river is wide and you need to focus on structure that is scattered on either side if the river. Enjoy as there are fish to be caught and few folks trying.
  4. I am a proud owner of a RiverPro. I was skeptical at first because I was and still am a wade and float guy. But as I've aged it takes too long to shuttle trucks and cuts into time on the water. and my canoe seems to be getting heavier and my fishing buddy is getting unreliable. The Guy who builds RiverPro Boats, Kevin Turner took me for a ride one day and I had one in my garage in less than a month. He custom builds each one. RiverPro Boats Go places that I woud drag my canoe through. It has made more water available to me. It allows me to hit a river for just a few hours when before I would have needed most, if not all day. I cannt say enough good things about them. They are built by a fisherman for fishermen. Keven really knows what he is doing. Do yourself a favor. Call Kevin and go for a ride. It doesn't cost anything and you won't be sorry even if you don't decide to get a Riverpro for yourself. Enjoy the Ride
  5. I found this site while looking at some boat stuff and just had to join, for 2 reasons: 1. I have to fish and 2. I needed to reply to a boat question. As for the fishin' smallies, goggleye, Kentuckies, Largemouth, even an occasional walleye, whatever will grab my lure in these clear Ozark streams. Is there a finer place to wet a line? I don't think so. In less than 2 hours from my door and I'm in heaven. The Meramec, Huzzah, Bourbose, Big and Little Piney, Gasconade, all these rivers are an escape from the everyday humdrum. See Ya round the next bend,
