Thieves Broad Daylight Ruark Bluff Boat Ramp
lollygagger replied to Thompson Fishing Guide Service's topic in Stockton Lake
Try to not drive off road or damage the integrity of launch ramp if running the barricades. Hate to see 'em closed for repairs. Fixing 'em when it gets colder is iffy. Any damage repair may not be feasible until spring. Then they would really be closed. -
Great Idea...Why touch a fish that won't measure or you aren't going to eat ? You just remove the protective slime. Ontario suggests this catch & release method for walleye, pike and muskie. Leaves more fish/and stronger gene pool for your kids to catch down the road......If you are in it for the sport, get some frayed rope and catch some gar..Sling 'em aboard and remove the rope from the gars' teeth.....Or carp fish under a persimmon tree and sling 'em aboard to get your persimmon back.

We stayed at Buck Creek....but was thinking same as you and heading down for a Thursday and half Friday. I can't stand it either. I have stayed in DC only once and seemed were lots of places.

Recarpeted/Replaced trailer bunk bunkboards on trailer And then replaced carpet on friends boat lift.Took longer than we thought. Never fished. Water temp 58-61.Water color more stained/tannic than just dirty. Talked to some trotliners ...water clearer as you near Joe Bald....Water color kinda of weird....top Canada tannic but visability less than 3 ft at shoreline.....Hope to fish Bull Shoals (Buck Creek) later this week. and then Emerald Beach and work towards dam at TR. Clear water doesn't scare me...That is about my vacation.....Am Self Employed and my boss IS AN A-HOLE.....Sorry that is all I Got...Hope it helps...Saw one boat sit for 3 hours on the (super shallow) shortcut up the James across from JH.

My boat is what I stand on while trying to catch fish....Older Bass Cat....blew the merc it came with replaced with an Evinrude...before that I had Steve Holley's gold Hydro Sport that flipped when the single steering broke. I stood on it and caught fish. A drunk ran into me off the point in front of Wooley Creek and smashed to heck. 5 minutes to midnight, trying to make weigh in at Cape Fair. I was only 25 yards off end of bluff or they would be dead. Managed to get boat to edge of bluff and grab a tree as the boat sank....Was in shock for a while...My boat is still what I stand on while trying to catch fish...I am thankful for that....Don't think brand had any influence....Only big change was that I'm hesitant to fish alone at night...Had a 7'11! bass I was going to take pic of in livewell....She lasted overnight and was released when the water patrol took me to the wreck the next day. The boat was sitting nose up in 16 ft of water. 17 ft HydroSport. Yanked it off bottom. got it on plane, all goes well till Cape Fair buoys and he slowed down, boat starts sinking . Untied tag end of rope and fed rope while water patrol got me near shore. Tied tag end to tree and called wrecker...Managed to get on trailer so insurance Co could take pic's. Center City Marine rebuilt motor and sold it. Fought w/Insurance Co's for a couple of months.Ran the 2nd HydroSport 5/6 years and bought Lee Jordon's Bass Cat. My boat is what I stand on while I try to catch fish....I Love to fish. I have bought products from Aaron Martens to Z-Tech....Heck I even have 3 US Reel Hibdon Reels cuz I grew up without line guides and worm gears....I own BPS stuff and Lews (original TN and MO) All is good....I support about everybody....After a 150 HP prop crashed into my side and missed my head by 3 foot, I'm happy to stand on any boat while trying to catch fish. Thanx to any and all promoting fishing,,,from Johnny all the way down to the guy pouring jigheads in his garage. If it works....I am your customer....

Hate to start report with "Sure was nice to be outside"....but had a sure nice to be outside type a day...8:30 to 4:30....GULLS everywhere (again) water clarity a little stained or could have been a layer of dead/dying shad shad 2/3 feet down.. Most dying shad # 5 size Shad or smaller (size 2.5 shad rap?) Did see 3 or 4 Muskie Bait sized shad.......Nothing bothering them.....Kept moving away from the Alfred Hitchcock nightmare.... Here and there, managed 6 bass in boat with one +15" largemouth. One lost smallmoth about 17 " and that's it....Buddy got all of them on scrounger or bladed jig.....I alternated my workout program by doing the A Rig toss and the Rogue jerk....Lots o' Pain AND NO Gain....At 4:15, after a warm day and wind blowing in, found a pocket with 60.2 water in S House... Elsewhere temps 54/55 It was a nice day to be outside.

To further date myself, both rods lost were state of the art, space age lightweight, boron 6 footers (Lews)

Oooops 4/6/13...Did I mention it was windy ? At my age, getting blown into a cedar top and almost falling in lake (3 times) throws your timing off....30 years ago, falling in the lake whilst concentrating on your wackerbill minnow was no big deal (Early March both times) Considered duct taping myself to butt seat today....

Fished 9 to 4, One 4 lb on an A-rig, another fat KY 15" on Rogue. Lots of shorts on Rogue and a bunch of shorts on Scrounger. Big fish shallow in a nothing looking creek most everything else main lake cedars or 1/3 way back in cuts near or in cedars. Windy as heck. Didn't see much bait fish activity. Nothing in backs of creeks. Saw lots of people fishing gravel but found nothing. Some fish near bluff ends or turns...oh , it was also really windy...really.

What Color Line Do You Guys Use For Largemouth
lollygagger replied to jlinmo226068's topic in Table Rock Lake
Forgot about line for night, I use extra reels and strip off the Ninja line pulling it on to an extra reel or 4, or 5 or 6. Replace with fluorescent Berkley XL or xt, 2 to 4 lbs heavier. When done, I get the old x-tra reels and start switching back to the original "daytime line" Off with the bright line, on with the neutral. Mess around enough and you can end up reversing the original line where the bottom is now the top and vise versa. Then again, at my age I don't see as well anymore and may leave blacklight stored and fish with my eyes closed. When the jig doesn't splash on landing, open eyes and back off from shore. Countdown jig with fingertips....if it don't hit bottom after counting to 50....I'm probably a little to deep. -
What Color Line Do You Guys Use For Largemouth

4lb P Line fluro . 5,6,7 lb Sunline Sniper 8 lb Invisx. 10,12 lb Sunline Shooter. 14 up Tatsu, 8 lb Suffix 832 braid. 10 lb up Power Pro Braid. In Mono for C-rig back line or topwater I still have a dwindling supply of a an older product called NINJA. It may have been a BPS house line. Slickest casting mono in 10,12 lb. Like P line mono when cold and Maxima when it's warmer. Oh and I have some weird German 3lb mono in case I want to get in record book for carp, buffalo.....Smallmouth in rivers keep breaking off with it so I'm in search of another brand 3 lb. Know this all sounds kinda strange but I've tried a bunch of lines in my life. I feel that line is like tires on a car.....It is what is between me and the pavement.....I buy top of the line tires, so I buy top of line lines. Confused yet ? -

Severe cold front blows in..... 6lb 2 oz -
Also cut the "mud line" off each fillet. (Looks like a vein) Soak in cold lemon juice/salt/water mixture. Serve with lemon juice, green hot sauce and honey. As soon as out of fryer, squeeze lemon juice, take a bite. Dab in hot sauce, take a bite. Dip in honey to finish. Repeat. I was skeptical about the honey until I tried it. Yum !

Otters got into 7 ponds a friend built and micromanaged for big fish. Spent big $ building them. I caught 7.5 lb bass in Oct. Otters showed up in Nov and wiped the fish out. 9 miles N of Bolivar. Saw otters 4 years ago in Bull Shoals and last year in Springfield Lake. If you see one, kill it. They don't practice "Catch & Release"

Stockton Lake Fishing Report
lollygagger replied to Stockton Lake Guide Service's topic in Stockton Lake
Took a kid out to catch anything that swims Sun 6PM to 10:30 PM. Got 3 short bass (pop R &grub) lost 2 that would've gone on Senko. Swung & missed 4 after dark. Monday AM 3 shorts on grubs. Got so hot , trolled so the kid catch something and catch a little breeze. Morgans to Cane Hill got 16 whites, 3 crappie, 4 (short) smallies, 5 (short)LM, 2 walleye, 3 channel cats, and 7 Drum (3 to 5 lbs). Kid had a ball. Took a break for lunch. Kid keeps fishing and gets 17" large mouth casting while I ate. In 22 ft of water. Finally got so hot we left around 3. Lesson learned: Put the kid on fish no matter what. Let him get hung up and lose some of my good lures. Trade off is worth it. Trolled small med depth cranks handpainted to resemble baby white bass. -
Finally went out after snapping my upper leg in two, Oct of 08. Year of rehab. Still a bit wobbly and tenative, leaned or sat on pole seat. Fished upper White and lower Kings. Had 7 that would go including the biggest KY I've ever caught. My board goes to 20 and it was about a half inch past it. And FAT. I'd guess around 4.75. 5 were on gitzits, 2 on Senkos. On do nothing looking, shallow (real shallow) gravel. The big spot was under the corner of a dock in less than 3 ft. I managed to load and unload without causing too much of a backup at the ramp and appreciate the courtesy extended to me. I'm getting older and with a bum leg I'm not as fast as I use to be.

Went week of June 1st till day before chopper down. Maumee to Dillards fishing slow. Dillard to Rush fishing fantastic. Our group was on our 28th annual float on Ozark rivers. This year we caught more and bigger smallmouth than ever before. Wacky rigged 3" to 4" Senkos. No weight. Till we started getting low on circle hooks. Used jigheads with wacky worm. Shaved lead off jigheads. Still caught boatloads. We are catch and release. The blue ribbon section allows only 1 fish and must be over 17". We had one 19, four 18, and about a dozen 17. We ended up floating Dillard to Rush 3 times. Catch & release works ! 'nuff said.
